Finally decided to do a career on this game to get some better feel for F1:CE cars. Rough on-line times of mid 12s at Montreal.

That is really strange because I did an offline race and an online race and I was getting about the same times on both. Both cars used was a Renault and I didn't feel any difference, in fact online seemed to be a couple of tenths quicker, not to mention the handling was better.

Yes he knows that, but I think the point is that all default settings on a Renault is not absolutely identical to an online car. They feel different to me.

Shaggy, I did a quick race off line again at Montreal, with all default settings. Again, I was much slower than online. My theory is that my default settings are the ones the game comes with from factory. I’ve noticed that when you adjust the setups for a specific circuit, the game keeps those setups for that car on that circuit. I have never raced Montreal before; therefore my setups have never been adjusted. I can’t find another explanation.

I think if you change the tyres to soft at the very least then you will notice quite a difference in speed. Otherwise perhaps with a complete default set up (inc. hard tyres) maybe they are the same offline and online ?

Not suprising, if you're using the default setup offline.

I'm a couple of seconds faster when I race online compared to offline racing with default settings. My best lap offline was in the low 1:14.2xx, compared to online which was 1:11.3xx (massive difference)

Did some offline practice and I have been consistantly getting 1'11s here.

Seems there's not much in it between a lot of us. It'll all be down to penalties, walls and other collisions. Should produce some interesting results.

Very true. This could probably be the closest we've ever gotten with our times. I've come close to the wall alot (and had slight bumps), but so far have avoided sny serious damage or penalties.

Oh Yeah I love the track, very tricky though. Not in the sense of being hard but the little things here make a BIG difference. Races here often come down to pit stop times and if you can do the whole 20 without a penalty. It is not hard to run a good lap time here w/o penaltys that is .The corners will reach out and grab you here, and the penalty system is VERY unforgiving so mayby we see a new winner this week.:)

Told YA.

When is the PAL table going to be updated? (No nagging intended lol, I just wondered)

Sorry, lol, I'd forgotten about it because I was waiting on the NTSC results. I just need to upload it, so it will take a few seconds.

I did an online practice today and managed to get a 1:10.747, with consistent laps of 1:11s, low 1:12s on laps that I made mistakes on. I also managed to beat someone in the race who got a 1:10.067, which I was happy about :D

Did some online practice with my buddies and managed to get a 1'10.282 on the final lap. I'm very proud of it as I know I can do 1'10s. That was my second time online getting a 1'10 and I managed to beat the offline time I got yesterday.

Out of interest, what view do you guys use?

I normally use the bumper cam as it's what I have always used in racing games. But I changed to the one immediately behind the car and I'm a lot quicker.

I was having a hellish night.. could hit low 1'11 laps every so often, but the barriers and pnalties are killing me. Hopefully I'll have it all sorted by Sunday, otherwise I'll see you and a few others blazing off into the distance.

Always used this camera.. I guess I like seeing my tires.

Yeah I use the same one as Z, the one where you can see the helmet and the front tyres, I don't think it has ever been on another F1 game but it's my favourite view.

Two 20-lap on-line races has yielded an average time of mid 11s, with a 1'10.886 for a fastest. I was pushing it very hard though, and I can't race like that tomorrow or I'll lose by several laps! :D

I use the same as the others - the airbox camera. It combines the more direct view of the bumper camera with the better visibility of a roof camera, so I can see the road ahead easily and have a bit of peripheral vision.
I hate the chase camera because it feels detached and has a 2 second lag between the movement of the car and the camera, much like the GT5P chase camera. I always feel I'm a split second behind the action with that view and the sensation of speed seems dulled.
Cockpit camera is always fun but the lack of visibility doesn't make it the best for driving effectively and the bumper camera feels redundant for me seeing as the airbox camera is so good.

I did some more practice today as well, but I seemed to be very off-form, my best I managed was a 1:11.063, which isn't very quick for a fastest lap, and my consistency was just as poor, but I am glad that I was like that today rather than tomorrow :D

I mostly use the second Airbox camera (the one thats slighty left). While its not exactly like the real onboard cameras, I often love racing like that. I too am not a fan of the chase angle as it doesn't feel right in this game.

Can anyone explain why F1CE replays don't offer the airbox cam or the left-of-airbox cam? This always annoys me, as the other cams don't offer a good view of the action.

Offline I use the cockpit cam as it is definitely more "realistic", but I do think it's more difficult as you can't see where you're putting your tires.

There is definitely a difference between the two chase cams, the closer one is the one I use.

To note: Not received PM for tonight, not to nag but it's normally done by now...

The sense of speed isn't there for me in the chase cams. I mainly use the Above cockpit cam, except a few tracks I use in the in cockpit.
