300k Endurance at Grand Valley :: Times, Cars, and Experience

I did this in the premium alfa race car you win in b-spec historic.

I gave it max turbo to get it up to 240ish horse. I thought it would be competitive.

It stomped everyone by four laps.

I'll have to take the turbo off and try sometime, but my DFGT hasn't been working properly since vettel X1 challenge ~.~ I think I hurted it.

Used the Auti TT touring car with racing hards, and did it in a bout 2:05. My first GT endurance race. With the time investment necessary for the enduros, I don't think I will be able to make myself pick a car that is competitive with the rest of the field.

It'd be nice if PD had put up a list of recommended cars for the various events, especially the enduros. Maybe a different cr/ex reward if you use one a specific group of cars?

Really I just want these races to be fun. Not ridiculously challenging and frustrating, but I want to have to work a bit to win them. I'd like there to be a chance I may lose, more sense of accomplishment for winning. I certainly want to finish on the same lap as the rest of the podium :P

Used a Ferrari Enzo stock (only oil change) on my first try. I was leading all the way with a NSX not so far behind (once laped it when it refueled but had to refuel next lap myself). It was really fun managing my advance as I refueled more often than the NSX (mainly for tyres). And I did one mistake : I refueled something 10 laps before the end as the NSX was slowly gaining on me and as I was not sure about the fuel remaining was sufficient. The NSX passed me as I was on the boxes and I failed catch it on the last lap for 5 littles seconds. Was fun anyway.

On the second try, did it with a BMW 330i touring car and blasted the race.

Just ran this race yesterday. Used the Mitsubishi FTO Touring Car, finished right on 2 hours.

Pitted once every 16 laps, finished about 6 laps ahead of the field.

I completed the race in 2:04 using an Autobacs Garaiya (street version) modded with about 300hp. Probably would have been a couple minutes faster had I not used my car as a battering ram to manipulate the order a bit. My fastest lap was around 1:57.

are you suggesting you lost this race using a ferrari enzo? or did i just read that wrong :dunce:

Completed it with my favorite car in the game: NSX Type R '02! DFGT and hard sport tyres used, two pit stop visits (after lap 23 and 46). One pit stop probably would have sufficed, but it's not nearly as fun to drive with very worn tyres. Best lap times (first 5-6 laps or so with fresh tyres) were around 2:09, and I finished at 2:14 minutes.

Probably the most fun I've ever had with this endurance race (played it in every GT game), had a lot of fun getting an even better feel for the car and constantly chasing my best lap times (well, when the tyres weren't all worn down). Only complaint is that the AI didn't put up much of a challenge, despite the NSX being comparable in performance to the other cars. Was about a lap and a half ahead of the car in second place (RX-7 '02), but oh well, that's not where the fun in this game lies in the first place.

Fun thread.
I won using a Delta Integrale, as it used to be my real car, long time ago...
I had to tune it up a bit, ohh it was so fun to beat the Impreza STIs... awesome car btw, I almost bought a real one. Next time will be on a stock M3. Yeah, I settled on an E92 instead :-)

Used a Mildly Tuned Audi TTS(Ecu Stage 1 engine and Sports mods mostly) on sport softs won by just over a minute 2 hours 20 ish best lap of 2:07.097 stopped for tyres every 12 laps or so... and just topped up the fuel 10 - 15 litres ech time

I did it with a FGT, because I didn't wanted to risk 60 laps, and how it was so boring I tried to beat my lap times, and now I know the Grand Valley completely, every single corner.
LOL
I'll try some other day with another car.

Such a fun thread and such a fun race.
The first time I won using a Delta Integrale, as it used to be my real car long time ago... I had to tune it up a bit, not all maxed out. Weight diet and engine around 340HP. The real one wasn't so light, and engine peak power was ~320HP.
I enjoyed overtaking the STIs. Other awesome cars btw.
Next time I'll be using a stock E92 M3... :)

Ran this event two times already and I am going to gear up for a third tonight.

First time was in a Evo vi tme. It definately was like bringing a gun to a knife fight and I had the field by three laps I believe. I made three pit stops, but the third was to throw on racing soft tires for the final ten laps to see what times I could get. At that point I was already two laps ahead of the field.

The second time was in a RKM tuned CR-Z and it was also a little too much for the field to handle. At least I didn't need any fuel.

I am unsure what to run with tonight, but I want a closer battle so it will probably be some sort of unmodded car.

I used a lightened up Skyline R32.
It was an easy race in the bag, I just trailed behind the RX-7 for the first half of the race or so because I wasn't sure how well my big 6-cylinder was gonna guzzle.
I probably could have got through without refueling. a single pit for Racing Hard tires.

2:17:25.096
With the runner up about ~20seconds behind.

E: I noticed some people put more stats. I used interior view w/ Onscreen data off. I only did a quick check in the start menu to see what lap I was on/see my fuel etc. Then I turned it right back off.
Logitech G25 gets exhausting after 2 hours! XD

Honda Civic Type R '08.
Oil Change only.
Total Time: 2 hours 17 minutes.
Best Lap. 2.13.125
Finished 2nd, 22 seconds behind the winning RX-7.
(Damn him and his one stop strategy :irked:)

Just completed the 300km Grand Valley Endurance race in my Suzuki Cappucino(not the full Race Mod).Came 1st and had a few dodgy laps .
Retook lead after dropping 30+ secs behind when lead car pitted on lap 30 ,i pitted for tyres on 31st lap, came out of pits still in 1st and stayed there. If i hadn't made any major mistakes i think i could've lapped everyone .Finished with about half tank of fuel.
Thought it wouldve been more challenging than it was,but it was fun and much more rewarding than using something bigger.
Finished about 1min in front of 2nd.
Fastest lap 2:12.XXX
average lap time 2:16.xxx
total time 2hrs20mins

I just completed my first ever endurance race with GT5. It was amazing!

I invite you to share what car and time you posted. And please share what your experience was with the 60 laps at Grand Valley.

I decided to use the Mini Cooper S because it is my personal favorite car, mostly because it is actually reasonable that I will own it someday. For tuning, I just brought the power/weight ratio up to about 1/5, which is about in line with the other cars. But obviously, though I'm underpowered, due to the low weight I was flying through the corners.

I started the race with racing(hard) tires. These took me 26 laps, but started to lose about a second per lap. Up to this point I had second place trailing me by about 2 seconds and passing me a couple times on the straight. He pitted on lap 24.

So my thoughts were that if I could stretch the tires just a little further then I would be able to use racing(medium) tires for the last 10 laps.

I then pitted on lap 51 and put on my racing(medium) tires. By the way, I did not refuel at all during the race and still ended with a 1/4 tank. Coming out of the pits I was about 12 seconds back. It only took five laps to make these back, while making my way through a good deal of lapped traffic.

I finished the race with a best lap time of 2:08, while finishing about 8 seconds in front of the runner up.

I can´t possibly imagine how you managed to do it with a 200HP Mini Cooper. I did it with a Challenger SRT/8( I made sure it was not a faster or slower car than the competition. If not there is no fun ) with the stock 480HP, soft sport tyres, stage 1 weight reduction, nothing but ABS 1, and had a hell of a fight with an FD RX-7, considering that the SRT/8 doesn´t like to be pushed in corners. I know the track by memory, since I´ve been racing in it since GT1, and can push pretty much any car to its limits on it without making "almost" any mistake. Thanks to this, at the end I won with half a lap of advantage, but it was a constant fight till almost the last 10 laps. Plus my time was around the same two hours and a half. How did you managed that time? Impossible to think your Cooper did around 280 KM/h in the straight as the Challenger to build up that overall time. Or maybe I don´t remember my overall time. I remember my best lap was around 2:06, and an average of 2:11.

Probably I´m being too drastic. Maybe the game chooses the best oponents for you. And also, the Mini Cooper is a fast car in corners, maybe I´m underestimating it. Maybe the SRT/8 is too heavy, and does not turn quickley, although it drives really smooth, virtually no understeer for its weight, and a fairly controllable oversteer that appears only if you step on it on purpose.

Its cool that you mentioned the fuel thing. That means that it is in fact more realistic than ever. I had to refuel twice my fuel tank completely.

It was alot of fun. Not as close as boring as GT4 endurances. This time the AI fights hard.

Used a 370z, forgot how long it took was over 2 hours though.
I was ahead by 2 laps and then I tried playing around and ramming some of the cars to pit and was forced into pit also! so when it was all said and done i was 1 lap ahead.

The 370z had racing mediums, stage 1 weight, and an oil change.

Currently doing this in a 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible, with an oil change and a combination of Sports Medium and Sports Softs (fair since the AI uses Sports Softs). The cars 4-speed transmission is just about long enough for the long straight.

I was using medium at the front and soft at the rear for the start but at first it didn't go that well initially. I fell to the back of the pack and it took me over 10 laps to get to 2nd, and a further 6 laps to get ahead of the leading 370z, which was slowing down and struggling for grip. I made a pitstop at lap 22 (at the same time as the 370z which was 5 seconds behind), and switched to softs all round, but didn't take any fuel as I knew I would need to stop again and my tank was still more than half full.

Currently on lap 31, and after the round of pit-stops I'm 30 seconds ahead (laptimes are around 2:13-2:14). Seems easy now, just keeping it nice and smooth, but I certainly didn't seem easy at the start.

Just finished my second GV300. Did it with a stock M3 coupe '07 this time. Awesome car, superb handling! On Racing Softs my fastest lap 2:02m.

Total race was 2h08m with 4 pitstops.

Awesome race. Will certainly do it a 3rd time!

I used the Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary ‘88 (completely stock, 0 miles, no oil change, SH tires). I had to pit twice compared to the AI NSX (and one other I can't remember) which both pitted once. I made a mistake in my first pit and refueled 100% which was unnecessary and very time consuming. By lap 56/60 I was in a heated battle for 2nd (1st was 30 seconds ahead and gaining 1 second per lap on me) and accidentally restarted the race :(

I'm an average DS3 user. I don't remember which aids I used, but I did use some. Lap times ranged from 2:12:XXX to 2:20:XXX depending on tire wear; mean lap time around 2:15:XXX

What do you guys reckon the slowest best lap you can have is? Because in my race I only managed a 2:15 and I came second, but that was against the RX-7. I was thinking about trying it in a fully upgraded Fiat 500F (yes the one from the 60's) and I've got my laptimes down to around 2:18 and that is with a full tank of petrol. It would be interesting to see how high I could finish with it, a podium would be nice.

if you're averaging 2:18 you could likely podium. In my race the only 2 cars in contention were the RX-7 and NSX. I was averaging 2:15 laps and was years ahead of the 4th place vehicle - it's possible I even lapped him.

i tried this again in a stock mugen S2000 on sport mediums/softs. i was a little afraid of the rx-7 so i started off on the mediums as opposed to the hards i was planning on running. good thing too, as he got ahead of me on lap 9 after i underestimated my tire wear and had an off heading into the second hairpin. i pitted after lap 11 for some sport softs after the mazda started pulling away from me. the next 15 laps or so were fantastic as i tried to catch up to him again after exiting the pits about 34 seconds behind him.

once i passed him around lap 27 or so the race was pretty much over as he lets his tires get so bad, trying to only pit once that he has no chance of blasting past lapped traffic. noticing this, i went back to mediums looking to give him a chance to catch up, but he never did. ended up about half a lap ahead at the end.

this reminded me why i hate hondas so damn much. every time i see a nice S2000 i think, "man that looks like it'd be fun to throw around a track" only to be slapped in the face by its complete lack of torque. just a shame really. it could be such a great little car if it only had an engine that worked below 9k rpm
