A very laconic car to drive, which I like. I like a lot. This car is mostly very relaxing to drive and I got drawn in driving it, there's plenty of warning when things are about to go awry. That being said, even with the great margin of error this car has, when you really start to load the car up, you can feel the impending doom mounting in equal measures. Stress this car too hard and it will spit you out. Aremberg and the sweeping right-hander leading up to Schwalbenschwanz were where this was most evident. Schwalbenschwanz in particular cost me an estimated 3 secs on what ended up being my fastest lap.

The only other thing I'd say hurt this car is it does have a bit of corner exit oversteer. This is manageable, hold on half power for a fraction of a second longer and then hoof it. Let me get on the power that fraction earlier, give me a bit more confidence under heavy braking and you've got a winning car.

Ye gads this thing is difficult to drive. It took 5 laps before I could post this time. Frankly, my time could have been faster, I lost about a second over the final third of the course against my third lap.

This thing has plenty of grip until the grip is gone and when it's gone, it's gone in spectacular fashion. For the first 4 laps, I spun at least once. The best advice I can offer is to use lift-off to cure any understeer and to avoid spinning on corner exit. Don't try to correct oversteer, unless you're highly adept with a controller or using a wheel. If you're like me and you do try, you'll end up in a tank slapper and smeared down the armco.

Overall I was a bit disappointed, I've driven a few of CSLACR's cars and have been impressed with them all (apart from that Lancia rally thing, coincidence..??). I'm sure the fast pilots will get the best from this car, but in my mediocre hands, the car is a ... errr ... handful. Sorry, again.
This is weird for me, being that I drove Jackthalad's car today, and found it extremely similar to mine in overall handling.
I found his to over-steer more on entry, under-steer more on exit, and once I spun the wheels, it was much more difficult to catch than mine.
Maybe it's a DS3-Wheel difference.

Praiano's 111R and Theo777's 111S tested, started to run CSLACR's S2000 today, but i dont have much time during the week :( i had some time to run yesterday but the psn maintenance didnt allow me to connect...

Nice cars to drive so far :)

@ryangt

Nice driving! If only the 111S had a 6-speed option. The gearing settings I used still caused acceleration problems in the lower speed sections. This was very helpful feedback for improving my future tunes. Thank you for testing! 👍

@praiano63

Impressive driving! My personal best lap in the 111S was only 8:12. Also, thank you for the driver choice! I am glad the Grasshopper didn't jump around the track too much. :dopey:

I found that your car reacted much quicker to inputs than Jack's. Meaning that I made more mistakes with your car, unfortunately :indiff: I'm not skilled enough to get the best from either car. I imagine that I'd do much better with a wheel.

Sorry fella...

Thank you, Sir. In a few months maybe. We're living in rented accommodation at the moment and don't really have the room to set up a wheel and pedals. We're in the process of buying a house, once we do and we get some work done on the place, we'll have loads of room. I've already got a mate lined up who can work steel, so I'll be looking to put together a custom wheel/pedal/seat combo 👍

no sweat , i was just doing my weekly tour of Ebay.UK , looking for a potential car to buy comparing prices ( yes i know they RHD right hand drive ) , or a motorcycle , etc etc ... ill stop now going waaaaaaaaaay to much offtopic :P

Or maybe its a difference in driving style? You and I have argued in the past about different tuning methods for different people. What works for you definately is not faster for me and probably is the same the other way around too. That's no different in the real world. My Miata is way too loose for a beginner and a bit tight for the top tier national level racers.

A pet peeve of mine is under-steer exiting corners, I probably went overboard increasing rotation on exits. :dopey:

I say this because he mentions some over-steer on exit for the other 2000 also, which I found to under-steer on exits some.

Driving style almost all the way. I suspect I enter corners slower than you do and as such experience over rather than understeer on exit. I like my cars to be a bit wallowy as well. Cars that respond quickly to inputs are a bane for me, I need things to (re)act a little slower. I constantly struggle with Praiano's cars, as I feel they are too stiff for me. Yet there's no denying his cars are very fast ... in the right hands (just not mine).

With your S2000, the second I lifted off or hit the brakes, the whole car pitched forward. Jack's was similar, just not as quick, which meant a slow old hand like me could catch it and direct it.

If I have time after one complete run through, I'll be looking to improve on some cars. So far, I've not been able to put in a completely satisfactory lap in any of the four cars I've driven. Six more to go before then, though...

If you do take another run afterwards in my car, try changing the shock from 7/1 1/7 to 5/3 3/6 and see how you like that, I'm thinking you'll find it worlds better.

It has a strong tendency to over-steer from downshifting for me, which for me, only gets worse with a high LSD. The above will probably make the car suit your driving style much better.

Sorry about missing out on round 2. I was working on a '90 RX-7 INFINI but got caught up with real life. Anyway, the car turned out to be garbage. I got it driving pretty well but one lap in a GT86 and I realized it just didn't have enough grip. Skinny tire syndrome FTL. Anyway, I never finished working on it before I left for vacation.

MotorCityHami needs to take his car off share, and get it to 200 miles. (currently 139.x)

Hopefully the testers that have already tested will have time to drive it again.

Don't know if I will be on PS all week. Is it gaining power in borrow mode? Didn't think borrow mode did anything to oil life or break in?

Yes borrow mode will take oil change or break-in into account.

Tested CSLACR S2000 and Jackthalad's S2000! :dopey:

4 cars tested so far, very good cars 👍, well done!
I hope to be able to test more tomorow and post the results soon.

Everyone will get 5 laps, using a DS3, auto

A very laconic car to drive, which I like. I like a lot.

Sorry for being nit picky, However I have never heard the term "Larconic" used in this sense when describing a vehicles driving characteristics, can you elaborate on what you mean by saying this about this car? as if you like it, I'd say that is a good thing that some tuners may strive for.

Laconic; Adjective "Brief or Terse in speech or expression; using few words" (websters dictionary)

Edit, realise you may be saying the car is very "neat" or concise in it's handling, easy to drive....

Laconic probably wasn't the word I was looking for (I'm still looking for it). What I meant was, the car is very relaxed and unhurried...

Car back on share. Wish I had more time this week. Did a few of the online A-spec 500 pp challenges using the car still at 420 pp. Bumped up to sport hard tires and could get the wins. Comfort Softs were just a little too short.

Preliminary Results:

These results are preliminary. I have to still go back and make sure I've given each car the best I can.

But many of of these cars, most notably the Loti and Hami's RX-8 have been a blast to drive. (I think I'm finally figuring out how to drive RWD cars)

1. Praiano63 - Lotus Elise 111R '04 - 8:15.748 (I really enjoy this car!)
2. Theo777 - Lotus Elise 111S '03 - 8:22.768
3. JackThalad - Honda S2000 '03 - 8:23.776
4. MotorCityHami - Mazda RX-8 Type S '07 - 8:24.421
5. RotaryJunkie - Mazda RX-8 Type E '03 - 8:25.205
6. CSLACR - Honda S2000 '06 - 8:25.866
7. Cykosis1973 - Honda Civic Type R (EP) '04 - 8:27:235
8. Hermanvongerman - Honda Integra Type R (DC2) '95 - 8:28.965
9. Onboy123 - Fiat Punto Abarth '00 - 8:32.282
10. Tris_73 - Lexus IS 200 (J) '98 - 8:48.926 (had a hard time finishing a lap with this car, I hope I can reduce this considerably)

I'll post final results probably on Saturday

Do I need to run your car again..??

ok cool, thanks Cykosis, It is good to have your ride just feel very easy to drive at high speeds..........

I'm all about the easy. To quote the Great Garfield, "If I was any more laid-back, I'd be in a coma."

Lethargic? Languid?

Languorous is probably the word I was looking for. Lethargic seems to suggest unwillingness, when the car is anything but.

Two more added, just Tris and myself to go. Even though I've already set a modest 6:45 in my own car ... what?? ... I'll subject it to the same conditions as the other cars and run it for 5 laps. I'll get what I get. I've also made sure that I've left it until last. So I've driven a bunch of others cars since the last time I drove my own. I'm sure my times will still be somewhat biased, sorry, not much I can do about that :ouch:
