try some of the one-make races if you want to see how you do on a level playing field. The "tuning" really separates those that have free time and those that do not.

Oh, I will always lose a one-make race. I'm just epically slow.

My comment was because the RX-8 that I used last night is what I usually use. And it was just a little more tail happy than I was expecting it to be, than it usually is. Earlier in the evening, I had it on Sports: Medium tires. At one point, I thought I must've left them on, and went back to the lobby to check.

I was just wondering if it was just me, or maybe if 2.4 reduced grip a tiny bit more to help combat latency issues in online racing.

'Course, it could be a completely unrelated bug. It could be that changing tires in an online lobby doesn't actually change the tire performance on the track. No idea.

I did find a new bug... in GT Auto, the man that changes the oil no longer has a crawler. He just scoots on his back now.

That was me that had the lag start.

It was related to my internet, as I had another lag start in another room.

Went on my pc and did some network tests out to the internet and was not getting my normal rate, and losing packets. Have ISP coming to look at it today.

I usually don't have laggy starts like that with my ISP.

Garris, you are just too passive. Once you get 3-4 seconds back, you usually maintain the gap. So you just need to be more aggressive when you're around other cars.

For your series, try using ballast + boost. I really think boost is the best way for you to get experience racing along side others. It will give you more opportunities in a given race to be side-by-side. You might make some mistakes, but you can always recover from them. Adding ballast to the mix will prevent the expert drivers from getting the same advantage from the boost.

I've raced with you enough and i don't think you are slow. You are pretty consistent which is really good for long races.

Thank you. I don't think I'm that consistent. I wreck myself quite often.

It is kind of a snowball effect. When I am behind someone, I really really really really don't want to hit them. I hit people too often, and I hate being that person. So, you are right, I do go slower.

The problem then becomes, someone hits me from behind because I'm going much slower than I normally would. That happened at Deep Forest last night. There was a big five car wreck unfolding infront of me. I went slow not only to avoid rear-ending them, but to change my line. I went slower so I could stay to the inside of the corner, which I wouldn't normally.

I got smashed, hard. But I can't blame them.

The other problem that I imagine I have is, the leaders get a few seconds ahead of me, and I push harder to try and close that. I wreck myself. :( I really need to stop doing that.

I'm reluctant to do boost. I'll have to try it. It just seems to me that it will 1) make the cars behave differently than they do in qualifying, and 2) make the entire race pointless, just follow until the end and scoot past, like you always have draft.

And go race a dirty race or two. It'll help you get over any feelings of claustrophobia you may have around other cars in a pack.

yeah, dirty racing is pretty fun and can you teach you a lot about the quirks of this game and the physics.

Boost is kind of like fast forward. You don't really feel the difference, but somehow you end up out front. The one thing you have to remember is that things will slow back down when you get to the front. You will have to listen carefully to your tires as to not over cook the first turn you make when you finally get out front....but you're out front at that point, so you don't have to drive fast. You just have to protect the driving line.

I didnt notice any issue with grip.

I meant to ask you if you had sound issues in the GT86. I think we have the same headset too, PX21. Before I joined garris' room I was in a 440PP room driving the 86 and had some weird noise issues, like droning oscillations every now and then. I thought it was from passing light poles or the time marker structures that go over the track but it would be like passing 6 to 10 of them. I didn't notice it in the SRT which was the only other car I drove last night.

esh

I actually just got a new headset, my turtle beach died.

I drive in chase cam. The only time I hear anything other than the exhaust is when im going above 120ish or in someones draft, and that's just wind noise.

Whos racing tonight?

Id be down for some Gran Touring cars.
Got a Benz set up pretty good i think.

I'm glad people like these. I don't know if I'll be on tonight, but if I am, I would love to do this.

Hi I've just joined, this looks like fun! Where do I find the host for each night? Looks like I've got a lot of tunning to do, most of my tunes 500-550pp, any pointers where to start!

usually someone just post up a room number.

we change it up some times though.

Tonight is Gran Tourers.

look a few post up for the regulations

First, don't double post. Second, send out some friend requests. PSN account names are on the left there. We also try to post the room number if it's made public.

Yeah, this is the list that didn't get copied at the top of this page: http://www.mygranturismo.net/35162

The requirements to get on the list were two-door, front, or front-mid, engine and rear-wheel drive, and 100,000 Cr.

The lightest car on the list is the C12 at 1480 Kg. With 200 Kg of ballast, it can make it to 1680. The SL 6 series (there are three of them) are over 2,000 Kg. I don't know if they can get down to 1680. They are all Mercedes, so I don't really care. They may be poor choices.

There are a few cars that only have about 300 Hp. I haven't tested them, I don't know if they can make it to 600. They may be poor choices.
