I enjoyed the comfort soft. First time using the tires. My matte pink Miata had a little understeer but the back tires were very stable. While I was slow, it was pretty entertaining the run in the back and watch people fishtail.

I use stock suspension. :D Have not yet ventured to the tuning part of the forum which is probably why I average 4th-5th every race while winning less 5% of the time. Though it must be said that these past few nights, I've grown exponentially by trailing folks. Found a few new lines following folks around Cote d'Azur and Special Stage last night and by staying with the same few cars and learning them inside/out I'm averaging a position or two better a race. Heck, I've won a 2 out of the last 3 three nights. :dunce:

how about a "tuners night" any car elaborated by amuse opera ecc... it could be nice for me, what do you think? comfort soft are awesome btw

At the very least, you should install the full custom suspension and add a few clicks to camber. The full suspension has stiffer springs and dampers by default which usually work well with the car unless you have done excessive weight reduction.

Video from Suzuka last night. I never really got the suspension dialed in so my MR2 was extremely loose. Things got a little messy on the first turn so I let Snoop go by and I figured I had 5 laps to move up the ranks. I had a couple of other hairy passes but I made the car stick.

Lap 1 I got around snoop on the inside of the bend before the final chicane. He took the outside but couldn't hold it. I gave him plenty of room and actually ran quite slow to make sure I didn't go wide.

Lap 2 I got around Twitchy with a very scary move. I had the outside line and what I thought was at least half a car length going into turn 8. I knew he'd never stick the turn from the inside so I braked a little later did my best to take a wide approach. It doesn't look wide in the video because I usually put 2 wheels deep into the dirt on that turn.

Lap 3 I captured some of the action between Nic and GrayFox. Their battle slowed their pace so I could catch up. Nic went wide on turn 7 on lap 4 so I had no trouble getting around him.

Lap 4 into lap 5 I caught up to GrayFox and made another scary pass at turn 1. I knew I had him by at least a car length but I didn't have enough track to move over. I had to take the turn from the inside and make it stick. Fox almost got past me on turn 2 but I held on and blocked the inside.

Lap 5 I cut to the battle for 2nd place. AOK was desperately trying to get past Grenade. A last ditch divebomb into the chicane almost worked but Grenade went under and took back the position.

Tonight will be Open Night on the 'ring. We've had lots of car restrictions in past weeks both on Wednesdays and the other nights, so I thought I'd open it up for this week. I plan to run a couple 2 lap affairs as well as single lappers. Track is Nurburgring Change Time and expect some races in the dark.

450pp, Sport Soft.

I will post up the room number around 9:30 EST.
Open as in no RC/RM/tuner, right?

At work now so cannot watch the replay. Do not remember what happened at the chicane. I think I went wide at 130R and could not recover for the right line at the chicane. I do recall trying to give you enough room. Had some fun racing with Nic at the end. Very rare chance for me to race with Nic...

The CS works real well with the 450PP cars. Top Gear was fun too. I would like to see more CS nights.

That sounds about right. We both gave each other room but I think you may have lost front traction exiting the turn because your car took a quick line to the grass.

I enjoyed the tires immensely. The competition was close and cars with more power couldn't run away unless they could maintain clean lines. There was lots of catching up and falling behind.

I am not a fan of TGTT though. It is not a racing track, it's a time trial track. There really aren't any passing lanes and it is tough to run the track without getting penalties...but on the other hand, turning them off gives drivers way too much freedom.

TTGT is always a mess online.

Had a second look at the suspension thread. Last I looked it was still in the WRS sub-forum and there's more stuff there now. Stuff which explains why some cars were blowing by me on straights as if I was standing. I thought the ride height thing was much more constrained to handling. Oh well.

Chuyler1--you posted the one video where I was awful...though I won the next race :)
First lap I took 9.6 seconds of penalties coming back onto the track and never recovered.

I fear that if I add racing suspension to cars, I'll have to relearn things. I just put the sports on and keep normal transmission. That way the cars all act similar or at least what I'm used to. I just need to spend an hour or 2 in a tuners lounge and be walked through this stuff because its over my head. (though I probably wouldnt retain half of it)

I find it more amusing that I am usually ahead of folks who spend a measurable amount of time tuning when I just jump in, put a few parts on and a sports suspension and I'm all set.

The transmission can be very important on some cars, not so much on others. I don't mess with individual gears but I always use the top speed setting to gear the car appropriately for the track. Setting it to redline on the longest straight, then bumping it up a notch or 2 for drafting will give you a slight edge in an otherwise slow car.

The suspension again depends on the car. If a car came with sport hard tires, it will usually perform OK with the default suspension on sport soft tires. However, adding some camber and dialing out over/understeer will yield faster cornering speeds. It takes practice though, and I'm not very good at it. Often times you can do more harm than good.

The LSD is another item that can cause more harm than good. Most of the 450pp cars don't need it with SS tires. I noticed last night my MR2 was spinning the inside tire exiting turns. I used a little less throttle input and got by without one. If you install one and it causes outside wheelspin, you'll have more problems with oversteer than you did without having it at all.

Flywheels, clutches, and drive shafts are still a mystery to me. I'm not sure how much good they do.

What did we do after this race that you won? I got disconnected from the lobby after Monaco and couldn't save that video. It was a fun race though. I saved the Trial Mountain video too. I blew past you on that one starting again from the rear.

I was out gunned at Grand Valley. The Garayia simply couldn't keep pace with the leaders. I think I scared the crap out of Grenade at one point. I was taking the left turn before the 2nd hairpin at almost full throttle. I blew past him on the outside going about 10-15 mph faster.

I think it is mostly about handling. If you were the car I think you are, you had a wing on the back. Aero parts rob PP points that could otherwise be used to make more power or the car lighter (either way quicker acceleration and people blowing by you on the straights). Get rid of the wing or set it to 0 downforce, use the extra PP for power and you'll see people wont blow past you.

At 450pp I never run a wing. Actually, I never run one unless the car also has adjust. front downforce as well but that's just me.

I won Cote d'Azur and I believe it was the next race...though I could be mistaken. I know Twichie and Nic were going back and forth and I slowly got away.

Nice work. I clipped the left wall enter the chicane and that allowed some cars to pass me. I had to work to get past them again but I probably wouldn't have made it to the front anyway because I didn't quite have the speed.

I see what you mean about spending more time in a car. I started out in the Garayia which I knew was pretty balanced. I could throw that car all over the track...but it just wasn't quick in the straights. When I switched to the MR2 it was like starting from scratch again. After 2 laps at Suzuka I was getting more confident though. I will likely pull that car out again the next time it matches the theme.

Yes it works very well...the only thing I tuned last night was the final drive.
I think racing on comfort soft will improve our skills(better driving line/Throttle management) and make us faster on a better set of tires...👍

pd needs to give us room for more people. everyone is on friend list.

Yeah I jsut saw that :) Glad to hear there's a good turnout though! 👍 I mean at least for nurb, like 40 of us could fit on there. :D

IM IN!!!! HAHA

Flywheels, clutches, and drive shafts are still a mystery to me. I'm not sure how much good they do.

If Im not mistaken, they make the throttle more responsive. I will do some experimenting, but I assumed it served to prevent what I will call 'Cien Syndrome'

By this, I mean that you rev the engine up to the redline, and let off. 18 minutes later, the engine has come back down to idle.

I think if you replace the flywheel and drive shafts, you should get rid of that sort of problem. As for the clutch, I think it is supposed to make your shifts quicker, but again, I could be wrong.

This thread is exactly what I have been looking for. I do my best to be clean, and I enjoy the lower powered cars. The time also works well for me, so hopefully I can join you guys at some point :)

what a blast last night eventhough was averaging 10th to last place... kudos to poor driving! I always start good but couldn't keep my driving line and the straights killed me, have to let you guys pass.... :grumpy:

Started with just 5-6 on race 1, by race 3 15++ gearheads were clamoring for spot #1!

My M3 GTR was fast but too twitchy, i was fighting all the time just to have a decent line. Using my DS3 while waiting for my WSPro to be delivered and finally hook my DFGT.

my Rx-7 was great but slow poked compared to the rest... settled the rest of the night with my Z4 but couldnt match you guys. Was :scared: when OSprey rolled out his F-150 when the rest of us were using Evoras, S2000, Z4s, NSX... i think im liking this Nurburgring night!

That's about the size of it.

I'll keep an eye out for this room. I've got probably a hundred or so cars in that performance range, and the timeslot is perfect because the room I normally play in every night doesn't open up until around 12:30.
