I am looking forward to joining up with you guys again. Haven't hooked up the wheel since PSN went down. I've been doing Seasonals with the DS3, so I am hankering for some action.

I occasionally notice a difference with the clutch, but only if the car takes forever to shift. I guess it is less noticeable when you have a custom transmission with close gear ratios. When you've got close ratios, the engine doesn't have to drop rpm as much between shifts.

Tonight is FF hot-hatch night. Look up the definition of a hot hatch if you aren't sure what to pick. Generally speaking, they are modified versions of compact cars that have 2 or 4 doors and a lift gate. A coupe like an RX7 or Honda CRX is not a hot hatch. A wagon or minivan is also not a hot hatch.

Was :scared: when OSprey rolled out his F-150 when the rest of us were using Evoras, S2000, Z4s, NSX... i think im liking this Nurburgring night!

Tacoma ;)

It's pretty fast on 'nurb (I usually tune on this track so I guess that's no surprise) and others are usually surprised how well it does. I started 16th that race and ended up 5th I think.

It was a fun night of racing, most people were fairly good about getting through the esses carefully at the start before starting to push for position - running two laps usually helps that as there's lots of time to pass. Seeing 16 cars bumper to bumper is pretty cool on the ring.

I will host tonight but the room won't be open until about 9:45. As soon as you see me pop online, the room will be open shortly afterward.

I found it somewhat amusing when I started in pole for one of the races last night. I was thinking to myself "hey i'm winning for a change!".

Then I proceeded to wreck on the 3rd turn. Good fun.

lots of fun on the ring! epic battle with osprey (how can a tacoma be so fast?!?) and all the guys was very clean finally

LOL! Thought it was an F-150, all i see was a blur when you pass me down the first straight in my lowly RX-7...

wish you had some videos...

bringing out my Volvo hatch tonight...

I did save videos but... I'm waaaay too lazy to sit in front of the TV with a digi cam. LOL

The whole FF thing on a track kinda rubs me the wrong way so I think tonite is my night off 450pp room.

Spoon Integra counts as a hot hatch? If not, the Integra Type R (premium) or RSX (premium) counts as hot hatch?

Personally, I would never consider an RSX or Integra to be a hatchback. I Think of them more as compact coupes. But technically speaking they do have a rear lift gate that hinges at the top of the rear window. They are also listed on the wikipedia page...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_hatch
So you are correct in thinking they are hatchbacks.

I was hoping people would pick more european style hatchbacks from which the name was originally coined. I'll have to specify that next time though. For tonight, here are the simple rules...

1. Must be FF drivetrain
2. Must have a rear lift gate that hinges at the top of the rear window
3. Must be considered a compact or sub compact car
4. Most not be classified as midsized, a wagon or minivan

For example...

Mazda3/Axela - This is a hatchback. It is FF, compact, and has a rear lift gate
Mazda6 Wagon - This is a wagon and also a midsized car
Mazda6 5-door - This is still a midsized car and therefore not a "hot" hatch.

I just bought a Clio (not the monstrous MR one) from the OCD. After some tuning and a few practice runs around the Eiger short track, and I am pretty excited for tonight!

Nice, We did Eiger a few weeks ago, its fun with these little cars. I'll load up that track tonight for sure.

450PP is spreading. Either last night or the night before, while the original 450PP group was running....Another 450PP room was open with 11 people in it. I only remember seeing Civic43 in the room (because he's on my friends list)

Its nice to see new faces...hopefully everyone's still able to get in. Perhaps we'll eventual have a couple theme rooms each night to give not only variety, but a chance to have everyone on track

Great. Also, I might be a bit late for the 9:30 start, but I hope to join up around 10:15 or so.

Its great that their is lots of interest. A few months ago (before PPs existed) I did an hour-or-so long 'endurance' race in cars we bouht for under 30,000 Cr. It was a blast even though I was like 7 laps down from the leader, haha.

more themes = more challenges = more fun....

kudos also to these that keep the theme to the letter, it took me a while to learn the rules, and to get used on racing online. Hats off to all the host and chuyler for being openminded to theme sugestions and keeping it real.

I know it's early but, I'm open to suggestions for next week's Nurburgring theme -- open is fine too (trucks anyone?? :D :D)

Off the top of my head we've done:

European Shootout
Dusk 'till Dawn (Night Races)
500pp RWD shootout

Do any of them even qualify at or under 500pp? I'd prefer to keep to 450, 500 max the odd time. Just makes for better, cleaner racing in my experience -- especially Nurb on sports softs with a field of 16.

I'm not sure, but I do agree on the lower the pp, the cleaner the racing.
Some more ideas -

Lightweights - Under 1100 kg
4 door 2wd family sedan night
Pop up headlights only :P And then do night races :dopey:

Okay those are my silly propositions :P

How about trucks, vans, & wagons, 450pp, sport softs.

We did do a "family" night that composed of minivans and wagons, but it ended up being dominated by the AWD cars. It was too confusing to people as to what was a family car. Even if you say "family sedan" people will get creative and show up with an M3. Not quite the vehicle you'd lug your kids and dog around in, but people do.

I have a bunch of 50s and 60s non-muscle cars in my garage that i bought because they look cool. I'd like to pull some of them out some night.

The lightweights theme would have to be a little lighter than 1100kg. Most of my cars are between 1000-1250 anyway. That's the ideal weight for this PP level. Maybe doing a 800-900 limit would work.

The room will be open at 9:45 tonight, i'll post here when it is ready.

I like the idea of the minivans, haha. Other than the Honda Odyssey, are there others? Maybe we could do things like the PT cruiser, Element, Cube, etc. too. As for family sedan night, maybe we could have a blacklist of cars not allowed (M3, M5, RS4, etc.)

one make samba bus on the ring race!
I'd win that, as I've been using the Samba Bus in our open 450pp races for a while now :dopey:

I think a 69' or older theme would be fun. Easy to regulate and it would be nice to get to use some of those classics which are too slow for regular 450pp races.
