Keep getting disconnected after a minute or so... :(
Clearing cache didn't help, let's see if a complete reboot of everything would help.

I don't think I have anything properly tuned in my garage.. but I might jump in with you guys for few races if you don't mind.

Says room is full.. I will try again a little bit later

well guys, my PS3 is occupied for the moment, as my girlfriend wasn't aware of the importance of my joining the racing tonight. Hopefully her Netflix movie will be over soon...

The room was full. I'm wondering if there is any interest in running two rooms a night. One could be the A crowd and the other the B crowd. Each night, whomever runs the room just keeps track of points for the evening. At the end of the night, the bottom three (or however many) are told to run in the B room the next night. The top three (or however many) from the B room are told to run in the A room the next night.

Not sure if it makes any sense.

That sounds good, or we could just keep switching it up, or we could just have two rooms up. The first 16 go to the first one, and then the next person starts their own.

Fantastic racing tonight fellas! Took a couple races for us to get used to the FF drivetrain, but once we did, holy cow was it a blast! :D

Some shots from tonight.

Glad to have been able to jump in with you guys.. Even if I only caught the tail end of it.

Hopefully I will get a chance to run with you gents again.

The start on the Eiger race was horribly messy. That really should've been done better. There are a few racers who were not behaving during that start.

The roof at the bottom of that picture is my Golf. I didn't start at the back, I was just checked into the wall. As I recall, it was by the pink C30 (Snoppy?), but he may have been rear-ended as well. There was lots and lots of unnecessary contact.

The worst of it came right after this picture. Fat Rabbit's C30 was pushed up into the entry to pit lane. On a 10 lap race, that took him out completely.

What a night! Lots of intense racing and I actually had a competitive car tonight.

Full Lobby
So far this has only happened once or twice. Everyone in the room last night was on my friends list so it was sort of a revolving door. Can someone try jumping into my private lobby when I'm not online? Let me know if you can a) get in and b) change the course and restrictions. I believe anyone can change things up in someone elses lobby, but I'm not sure if you can enter the lobby when they are not online. In the past we've had issues with people accidentally starting the race. If using private lobbies works, we can deginate two meeting places for each night. If one is full, people can jump into the other. It will also allow people to join in early if they want.

Race Starts
I agree that things were very sloppy at the start of the Eiger race. I believe the GTP OLR mentions that the start of the race followed by the first turn should not be a 4 wide drag race but instead an attempt to turn a 2-lane grid into a single file running order. People were still running 3 and 4 wide into the 2nd switchback. I started 3rd and was pushed out to 6th or 7th before we made it to the bottom of the hill. Have a little respect for people's qualifying laps and please keep things clean at the beginning of the race. Everyone, including the leaders will be running a little slower until their tires warm up. Don't be that guy that goes full speed into the first turn and takes out half the pack.

k_reins,
Great photos! Sorry about the bump at Rome. You draft passed me then pulled in front of me right before the braking zone. I was full on the brakes but I ran out of room. I am assuming your dive bomb attempt on the next lap was a bit of retaliation. Rome is a great track, you battle people for laps on end drafting each other pushing the limits into the turns. However, I wish people would work together to move to the front. A few bumps in the draft and two cars can gain better track position, especially on the front straight.

SohnVonStig,
Sorry about the bump at Rome. I completely misjudged that turn. It cost both of us the race. In the end, it put me back in traffic and I think I had more fun battling it out. I hope a few people learned some of my lines. I think I was quicker on the turns but not quick enough to prevent someone from drafting me.

My quick race review...

Suzaka East
I thought this track would be a great warm up to get acclimated to the FF drive train. Keeping the front tires from going red was key. Sl3ight I think took off with an early lead and I couldn't catch him. Sohn and I traded places for a while but he got loose through the esses. I watched the replay, you managed to get the rear tires to light up, did you hit the ebrake or something?

Eiger
The start was pretty messy. Then for some reason I couldn't come close to duplicating my lap time. Sohn had the same issue. People were passing me like I was standing still on the uphill stretch.

London
I think people got their aggression out during the warm up. The actual race was about as clean as I have ever seen for that track. I battled for 2nd place the first part of the race, then finally got a good jump on dsgerbc for the straight but it took half a lap of running side by side to complete the pass. Then I spent the 2nd part of the race making sure I didn't hit any walls so I could keep that position. By that time, there was no way I was going to catch WiiFreak in 1st place.

Rome
An early incident with Sohn left the both of us fighting back from the rear. I got around a few drivers but that pesky draft made it tough to secure a pass and move up to challenge the next driver.

Deep Forest
Sohn had acceleration problems at the start so despite qualifying 3rd I had 2nd place by turn 1. It took several laps to get close enough for a draft pass. Once I got first I ran clean lap after clean lap. I had a 1.4 second lead at the start/finish at one point...but then there is that pesky draft. Sohn eventually caught me by bump drafting someone else to get within drafting distance of me. He made is move on lap 9. I didn't challenge going down the straight (that's just unsportsmanlike). I waited for the back section to draft and come along side him. However I cooked my outside tire then clipped the guard rail and fell back. That was all it took for RedReevos to catch me. I think I may have been ghosting or something because he drove through me, we did a little rubbing, but he came out on top. I cooked the tires on the last turn but at that point it was too late anyway. Even with drafting you can't make the pass until after the start/finish. Awesome race though! I am posting the video soon. Take note of Sohn's bump draft technique. Without it, he would have never caught me.

It works great as long as your opponent is fast enough on the rest of the track to not slow you down.

Here's the London Race. Definitely some wall hugging but overall a very clean race. My goal was to pass at least one car and I succeeded. The secret to the track was most definitely early braking.

I couldn't match my quali pace during the Eiger race at all either. Was running mid 1:12s in quali and couldn't beak a mid 1:15 during the race. Strange.

The Volvo C30R I ran at Suzuka is very fast but really puts a beating on the front tires, more so than any of my other FF Hatches (EK CTR, Focus ST, Cooper S). By the end of the race my front tires were about 2/3rds worn. Given about 3 more laps I think chuyler would've passed me.

The roof at the bottom of that picture is my Golf. I didn't start at the back, I was just checked into the wall. As I recall, it was by the pink C30 (Snoppy?), but he may have been rear-ended as well. There was lots and lots of unnecessary contact.

Sorry if I ran into you. I do not remember what happened exactly--whether I was too late on the brakes or someone ran into me. FYI, I usually brake earlier at the start (or I let off on the gas) to avoid running into people in front of me, but sometimes that means the people behind me run into me. Anyway, the start was crazy with ghost cars everywhere. Nevertheless, it was fun night of racing.

London was fun for me. I barely held off Diabolic and the cars behind him. Diabolic got around me at turn 1 mid-race, but I up/under-ed him. At Deep Forest (R) I was cooking my tires at the beginning just to keep up with Chuyler, and then made a mistake at turn 1.

I had the same speed discrepancy at Eiger. This is what I was referring to on the mic: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=195702

 I wonder where he perfected that!

Hint: it starts with Flyin' Miata Super Cup :)

I have NOOO idea what you're talkin about! :P

I liked how I featured in every one of your race summaries Chuyler :D You pretty much described my races by describing yours, but here's some short summaries for me.

Suzuka east - Was running with Chuler for the first few laps, then as he said I got loose :( The first mistake happened in the esses which is where I lost chuyler and I think I got passed by someone else. Then I tried pushing it too hard and ended up losing it coming out of turn 2 later on which bumped me back to 4th or 5th I think :/

Eiger - Qualified 4th with a 1:12.8, then couldn't top a 1:20 for the entire race. Somethin was going on, no clue what but it was weird. I think my glitching was what started the problems at the start. I dropped from that 4th place start all the way back to tenth before we even reached turn 1. I thought I must have had the wrong tires so I pitted on lap 2 or 3 and got lapped by the top half of the field :P Came out and still was running 1:21's or so. Altogether a bust for me :(

London - Qualified 4th again I think. This race I just ran out of talent. I was pushing way too hard and my car fought back. I ended up having a great battle for 5th (I think) with diabolic, snoopy, and twichie, but I ended up missing my braking zone for turn 1 on lap 9 or 10 and went straight into the hairpin wall.

Rome - Qualified on pole. I ended up taking turn 1 too wide on cold tires so I lost the spot to wiifreak. Chuyler and I were pushing each other to get back up to him and he ended up overcooking his braking zone at the hairpin on lap 2 (?) which pushed us to about mid-pack. I had tuned my car way too stiff to be running over curbs like I was which came back to bite me. On lap 5 my car got caught on the curb as I was straddling it coming towards the kink so I ebraked off to the right so I wouldn't block the chikane for everyone else. After waiting for everyone to come by, I had a great time fighting my way back up through the stragglers.

Deep Forest - Qualified 2nd I think....maybe on pole...Anyway, my car was not accelerating well at all coming off the start so I dropped to 3rd or 4th right away. Had a fantastic battle for the first couple laps with snoopy and then I ended up having a slight off. Dropped back pretty far actually but was able to regain my 4th spot by taking an inside line after the cliff. Bump drafted with snoopy until we caught up to diabolic (i think), passed snoopy, bump drafted with diabolic until we caught Chuyler. Made the pass on diabolic after turn 1 I think (I really should watch the replay :P ) and ended up bump drafting Chuyler so we could pull a bit of a gap. I was having to let off after the first tunnel and down the cliff hill to stay behind Chuy so I knew that I was going to be able to pass him there if need be. Did that for about 3 laps and for some odd reason I decided to pass him on the home straight at the start of lap 10. So much for my race strategy :P Ran a defensive inside line coming down the cliff hill and chuyler tried to pass on the outside but I don't think his tires had it in them :( Chuyler went off so I had about a 5 or 6 second cushion. I got cocky, had a slight off which earned me a shortcut penalty so ended up winning by 1.5 seconds.

Had to leave right as tsukuba was starting :(

Chuyler I'm on a g27 so the odds of me hitting the ebrake at suzuka are slim, but I very well may have. I cannot remember at all. As you can probably tell from how many times I said "I think," memory isn't exactly my strong suit. :P

Anyone can get in a lounge, even if you're not online. Anyone can also change the settings in there. I think running it in a lounge would be much easier :) I know I'm kinda late to the party here, but I think a second room is a great idea. There probably won't be enough people to fill it, but if it's a public room people are sure to join up as well.

Yeah, Sohn, I think our cars were of equal caliber. You were qualifying faster on almost every race but I think I was overall a little more consistent.

This is probably one of my best videos... I captured action from all the leaders and the top 3 finishers.

One place I couldn't quite get right was the entrance to the first tunnel. If I brake lightly early I'm fine but it feels slow. If I brake late, there is a bump and my car was lifting off then smoking the tires when it landed. I did it once on maybe lap 7 while you were following me. Lap 8 I hit the brakes early and hugged the inside. There was nothing I could've done about your pass on lap 9 to 10. Even if I moved to the inside you were well past me. You went real slow through turn 1 and I had to ease off. I think I might have had you on the back stretch but my tire gave out. I could've pushed for another pass but I caught that pesky guard rail.

Yeah I definitely braked way too much on turn 1 after the pass. I was trying to compensate for the draft and overdid it a bit :)

Thanks for the vid! 👍

i think it was me that pass you then you overtook me for 5th place and i finish 6th.

was running pretty good on Eiger after that chaotic start that saw my civic rear ending diabolic after the jump on eiger. Glad it did not cause him the race. as you can see in the pics, we were running wide to the right to avoid the mishaps at the start of the race. i did not expect to catch up with Chuyler and eventually pass him. Ended up in 5th place i think with me and diabolic battling halfway throughout the race.

I couldnt get my rhythm the last 3 races as my adorable 3yr old daughter keep bugging me... i ended up quitting on Deep Forest. It was a good race night. :)

that london race was really good.

damn you guys are consistant.

i hate london though.

also, i thought tuner cars werent allowed. like the spoon civic. although, im pretty sure they actually are at a disadvantage.

For the the very last race at Tsukuba (after a lot of the guys quit), something really strange happened. Basically RedReevos couldn't move for the first 20 seconds. I will try and post a video later, but it is almost as if it knew that he was good and was handicapping him as a result.

cant wait to see it! :dopey:

that mishap in Eiger with you punted to the pits was ! it was a chaotic start to begin with.
wanted to race some more when you hosted for Tsukuba but have to attend to my daughter's need.

Yeah it pretty much put me a whole lap behind, but I'm not really racing to win at the moment so not a biggie. Eiger was still fun.

The Spoon Civic was at the back with me at London. I was running the B-Racing Replica Civic (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=5254048#post5254048). Didn't like it as much as the Industrial GTi (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=194204&page=2#post5093091), so I went back to it for Rome. Clearly, if you are hanging with me, then you ain't faring well.

Someone was commenting that the CR-X shouldn't be allowed, that it isn't a hatchback. Maybe I misunderstood that. It is most definitely a hatch. There was an Integra running around. I don't know if I'd count that as a hatch. It is three door, but it is more of a fastback.

I'm sorry I ran the CZ-3 on the first race. I didn't realize things were limited to FF. Not that the AWD helped me. I'm really bad. I was up to ninth at one point, but I attacked the last turn wrong and came in too tight into the straight and got a short cut penalty. That cost me two spots.

I moved to the Golf at Eiger. I actually liked that fit. It turned very well. I could catch up to whomever was infront of me (at one point it was Chuyler), but I couldn't make a pass out of it.

There was one point where I passed Snoopy, and while there was no contact, I felt so dirty about how I managed that pass.

I so hated London. I did switch to the Civic. And it isn't bad, but.. it just doesn't go fast. The highlight for me was in qualifying.

That hairpin after the first straight, I go into it too hot with a green Mini behind me (Tootsie or something like that, sorry, can't remember the name). I know I'm going to hit the wall, so I pull the hand brake hoping to hit it side on and not head on.

I stop inches from the wall. The Mini did the same thing and stopped inches from me. It looked like we were double parked on the side of the road. It was fantastic!

As Chuyler started the race, others started goofing off and doing doughnuts and such. I was still on a hot lap. I zipped by Diabolic smoke frenzy and manged to cross the finish line just in time. That was my fastest qualifying lap.

I actually did like Rome. I was back on the Golf, and I thought it was going great! I'm sure if you look at it, you may ask, WTF? But I thought it was holding the corners so very well. It sucked on the straights, but I could stay on the gas through several corners if I hit them just right. I was in a good little fight with Chuyler for a little while.

Then I over-cooked the first corner and lost that spot.

There was a big wreck, and I did manage to get as high as sixth as I threaded through that wreck. Ofcourse, I lost most of those positions, but I had some fun in the fights as drivers overtook me.

it was me, i took me a while to note what you were driving, didnt recognize the CZ-3 at all... was looking the rear view and you were closing in then all of the sudden it was diabolic on my back in his yellow civic.........

i swore i saw a yellow civic with "spoon" on the licence plate.

not that i have ever seen a tuner car win though. maybe it should be left open.

London was fun for me. I barely held off Diabolic and the cars behind him. Diabolic got around me at turn 1 mid-race, but I up/under-ed him.

@ Snoopy--I allowed you the position by letting off the gas. I was afraid you'd be willing to go two wide through the S, putting us both at risk. I was faster through every corner, but you pulled on the straight. Had I been in front before turn 1...I'd have slowly pulled away enough so that by the straight the draft would not put you back ahead.

Also...ran the Spoon EK once and it was nowhere as good as my Seat Cupra (and that had a spoiler equipped :ouch:)

I think I'll be able too play tonight, school was being difficult this week, since next Thursday Is our last day for this school year. Diabolic, you hosting another private session tonight? Or do we have a host for regular 450 night?
