Why would it be banned?
:odd:

There's even a 430 scud cup

When the flaps in the exhaust open up it makes 120db, nearly all track days have limits of 95-105db making it far too loud.

Donington's limit is 105 iirc even though its at the end of an airport runway :odd:
Knockhill doesn't have any :sly:

1. 1970 Hemi Cuda , 4spd , dana 60 rear

2. 1957 Chevy Belair coupe (fuel injected version) 4spd.

3. Mclaren F1 GTR ( no brainer )

4. 1970 429 Boss Mustang , 4spd. , 9" rear

5. 1970 Chevelle LS6 , 4spd. , 12 bolt rear

^ The epitome of one of these things just doesn't belong here.

My teacher at college often talks about complaints from residents near donny.
it goes something like
"The cars are making too much noise we dont like the noise"
"well why live next to a ****ing airport then?"

Can't find any noise limit on the website of my local track (Kirkistown) so I might still be able to drive my pretend Scuderia there:)

;)

Let me guess : the Mclaren F1 GTR ?
You are correct. It's the only one made within the last 30 years.

Don't get me wrong. I'd love to have any of them, but you have to admit it sticks out (at least with that grouping) like the proverbial sore thumb. :)

One of these things isn't like the others...

My teacher at college often talks about complaints from residents near donny.
it goes something like
"The cars are making too much noise we dont like the noise"
"well why live next to a ****ing airport then?"

We did a race there the other year but it was done under 'trackday' noise regs. We were talking to the Clark of the Course about it and how ridiculous it is when it's right next to a busy airport. Apparently, Donington circuit is allowed so many days a year to run events with no noise regs and the rest have to be under something like 97dBs. If they go over that they can be fined £10k. The airport has similar restrictions but just shrug off the fines!

Too much practicality here. We need stuff that will need rebuilding. Here are mine, and bear in mind I am not talking stock at all, If I had money I’d actually build this:

Daily Driver: I’d switch chores ‘tween a 1973 Pontiac Trans Am, white with the gigantic bird in the hood and an aluminum block 455 with EFI and a six speed, modern brakes and suspension and white 17 inch minilites or Vintage 45s, very Trans Am-esque, and a 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge also with an alloy 455 and a six speed, 17 inch Fikses and moderm suspension and brakes, and a shaker adapted to the hood. Red. Or Black. –alternate opytion: 1971 Plymouth Road Runner in PPG Spectraflame Green with 500 ci hillborn-injected Wedge. Yeah, daily driver with Hillborns. 4 speed.

Track Car: I’ve always wanted to do something stupid, so it would be a 1970 Dodge Coronet –yeah, heavy- with a turbo-intercooled new-gen HEMI, wide (11 inch front) tires with big fender flares, carbon fiber body panels, independent suspension all around, brembos, you know how that is, the car you always dream of but will never even get close to. Matte black with black wheels. Someday I’ll draw it.

Mean car/ street race car: Can’t live without a 32 Ford Coupe, gloss black with flames, chopped, blown 392 hemi with two dominators, gray Hallibrands magnesium wheels with gigantic pie-crust slicks, vinil interior with a Bell steering wheels, rock-crusher 4-speed, Hallibrand quick-change rear, nothing chromed. Fenders or no fenders.

Drag race: 1955 Chevrolet gasser style, with a tunnel-rammed 427 with dominators poking trough the hood, a 4 speed, red plexiglass, black glossy paint with some 60s-era graphics, white fenderwell headers, Cragars with white-wall pie-slicks in the rear and of course the straight axle and the tilt front end… ah, yeah.

Custom/long distance cruiser: A 1959 Chevy Station Wagon, huge and enormous, green over dark green, with white wall tires but decent suspension and underpinnings, a torquey and efi’ed 454 but dressed with period parts so it wont look modern, a comfy interior with hidden stereo for long cruises- and a six speed with a gangly shifter on the floor.

….

The newest car in that list is 1973. Did not think it would be that late.

As you can see, I don’t care at all about gas. Just torque.

Here is mine:

Bugatti Type 41 Royale
Ferrari 250 GTO

All in the right colours too, apart from the Abarth which I'd have in red.

1. 2001 BMW 740iL
01bmw7series.jpg

This would be my daily driver. I've always loved this car since it came out and it's one of my favorite BMWs.

2. 1970 Boss 302 Mustang

Just when I need my dose of American muscle. My favorite 'Stang.

3. Ferrari 512 BB

Do I need to say something? I really don't know how to define this car. Power, beauty, elegance?

4. Jaguar XKR

MOOAARR.

5. Ferrari F430 Scuderia

n1021542055_21346_8054.jpg

There's just really one thing to say about this car to truly grasp it's meaning: It's a Ferrari

I'll go with Famine's model:

Me too! I must revise my list, I just became aware of the Citroen DS! That said, I fantasize about cars that won't rot away in my garage, so my realistic and fantasy garages are so similar, I'll just do one.

The Fun - Classic Mini Cooper, 5 headlights a la Italian Job - Cars, eggshell-style.
The Track Fun - Spoon Civic - I don't know how I expect it to handle, but that engine! And no rice to weigh it down, at that.
The Family - Honda Fit - efficient, beautiful, big, small, fast.
The Unnecessary - Alfa 169 - Italian.
The Classic - Citroen DS - Mad. Slow. Obscenely comfortable.

I'd like ot swap one of my original choices for one of these please...

250swb.jpg

New line-up

250swb (as above)
997 GT3 RS for track days (in white)
X5 as family car (twin-turbo diesel, in black)
California or DB9 Volante for the wife (she can choose the colour herself)
Zonda F Clubsport - after hearing the noise this makes on Topgear I just HAVE to have one!

And I'll have a Ducati Desmosedici RR (in plain red) as well... doesn't count as it's not a car :)
