Plus this thread is really about real racing liveries...
This thread is for any livery for any discipline of motorsport. Scale motorsport is still FIA sanctioned and very much "real".

I'll happily spoiler a few offending pics. Didn't realise so many were on this page.

Spoiler won't really help with anything, except maybe browser crashing. It'll still take time to see the new posts, as the page loads every picture from top to bottom, no matter whether there's a spoiler or not.

I remember I once posted an air racer, nobody said anything about it so... an actual FIA motorsport should count.

In the case of RC racing I can't see why it would need to be anything other than just a rubber stamp.... pfftt.. next thing you know, they'll be sanctioning non existant virtual events
Because it's a multi-million pound sport, with multi-million pound teams, millionaire drivers and neverending development. It is just exactly the same as full size motorsport, with the same sponsorship and competition commitments, just with smaller vehicles.

If you understood the money, skill set and commitment required to be successful, you wouldn't be finding it funny.

There's one thing it's lacking though. Physical involvement. Better than e-sports where none of the sport happens in real life, but sort of lowers its significance in my eyes.

Yes, I would. I find the jewel in the FIA crown a laughable disgrace - and that involves far more money, far more skill and a greater level of commitment, so quite why I'd view FIA sanctioned RC racing with any kind of automatically given respect I've no idea.

As it happens, you missed my joke, maybe it was too subtle, I was referring to the FIA/PD tie up that's not yielded anything yet.

Oh, it has nowhere near the physical involvement of full size motorsport - but the mental strength is at the very least on an absolute par. The international superstars endure ridiculous amounts of stress whilst demonstrating a stunning level of hand-eye coordination and reflexes.

This isn't the thread for the topic anyway - there's an RC racing thread down the page I'd like to plug. :P

It's less about what the FIA sanctioning means, more that it is an internationally recognised form of motorsport and has been since it's inception. :)

That's fair enough, I was wondering what FIA sanctioning would really bring to the RC racing table, I mean, the message from the FIA these days is all about safety.. personally I don't view RC racing as dangerous, which is why I commented I don't see it as much more than a rubberstamp agreement. That's all, nothing against RC racing in particular.

Cue up visions of a weird FIA sanctioned future where even GT3's are Radio Controlled.

Serious injuries do happen more than you'd think - it almost always involves marshals, since being in the firing line of a 5kg lump of carbon fibre and aluminium travelling at over 100mph isn't particularly pleasant.

Back on topic, Eric Barron's Pro 4 truck this year has been graced by Tonka. It's rather nice.

Simplicity works.

Dylan Pereira's Castrol Cup Golf is really nice. Quite similar to the SUHD Racing livery:

Could be a controversial one.

I liked this from the second I first saw it - I loved it, even - to the extent that I'm getting a replica created myself. Whilst a good livery often constitutes of a few complimentary colours in a pattern that suits the lines of the car, I think this is a really nice exception to the rule. To some, it probably looks like a mess. To me, it's a very different way of creating a visually striking pattern without colours clashing. I think splatters of colour work really well when properly executed, and I'd love to see it transferred over to some 1:1 cars.

I ended up talking to Tom about it, and the design was slightly accidental - presumably having only just received the car from Yokomo, Mike Craddock had to come up with something himself in the pits. So it wasn't just plain white, he ended up flicking the black and fluorescent red onto it using some straws. I genuinely believed it was full-on airbrush work, since each speck of red looks so neatly formed.

Yes, it may kind of look like it's been involved in a hit and run or it's been infected with measles, but I like artistic things, so each to their own I guess. I know this year's AMR Art Car didn't go down particularly well. :P
