OK yesterday I did what mr Roweer ordered me to do...I bought an Asparadrink RX7 `06 (OK Roweer told me to buy the Base Model, but Aspara and Base are the exact same car) and gave it mr praianos tune...It was horrible...Understeer understeer understeer...Not mr praianos fault this car understeers of course, and I could tell by looking at the settings that praiano tried to fight against understeer in some degree (low rear end, tight rear ARB and a few things more). But on my ps3/GT6 combo it understeered so badly, I couldn´t even get through the very first curve efter the start line. A lot of restarts, and finally I managed a complete lap at around 1.35.9xx...About the same I achieved in my WedsSport Celica...
So I skipped the priaiano tune, and made a tune myself...Still understeer, but a little better. One can`t cure understeer; one can only fight it...So I managed my best result so far, 1.35.487, which ranked me 616 when I turned system off...
To be no 616 is a very fine achevement but...It would be satisfying if it was a few tenhts of a second from the top. But it is still around 4 seconds worse than the Worlds best controller driver, some Brazilian guy named CRT Apex...
Of course I studied his replay...As far as I can see, we are doing about the same driving lines. The 2 major differences are that he does a lot of short shifting, due to him using the "low rpm turbo" I presume. - I don`t use turbo at all; I tried, but I`m faster without it, so I don`t short shift as much as mr CRT Apex...The other big differnce is that he just slams the throttle to the bottom out of the curves, especilally in the tight left hander that leads to the back straght...It doesn`t look like a lot of gentle, careful throttle handling, he just floors it..When I try that...OMG..Complete pirouette spin out, and my car orbits Saturn the second after...I don`t understand that..Man I would like to see what those controller aliens could do on MY ps3/GT6 combo, with my controller...No friends, this is NOT meant as an excuse for my own poor skills, this because it is PUZZLING me...And because I can`t see, how on Earth it should be possible to gain 4 sec, just by driving better. Bits and bytes behaving differently in our ps3s...???
What if a few bytes didn`t "bite" on the harddiisc when installing the game back in time??? That could mean data loss, and other interpretations in the machine. We are all experiencing different errors and glitches right?? hmmm please don`t bite my head clean off...It just seems impossible to gain 4 secs...Perhaps on a "fewer-hot-lap" I could gain 1 sec, but it seems very very hard to get down to 1.35 clean...1.35.487 so far, and that was not easy...
