It's an interesting (and good) combo, this one.

When I started, I couldn't see how a 15 was possible, never mind a 14. I thought the car was an understeering pig and I've never liked Laguna.

Once I stopped overdriving the car, and got the start of a semi decent tune, I could just about see a 15. When I 1st tried Stiggy's tune and Ramon's gearbox I thought a 15.5 might be a good time, and after getting a 15.4, I now see how a 14 is doable (though likely not possible for me).

Another thought on this one...

I don't remember another car which is so sensitive to minute gearing changes. With Ramon's gears, 2600 is too short for me. With a 2550 final, it works perfectly in T1 and 2, but it a touch short in T3. At 2500, it's a touch too long in T1 and 2, but perfect in T3... I'll try 2525 next, but I've have never noticed such a small change in final having such a big affect on drivability before.
 
Woo! Finally broke into 15's with a 1:15:913 on my DS3! Really proud of it because I've never been good at Laguna no matter what game I played it on.

If I can pull down to mid 15's(was on for a .7 but got to excited) then I'll be satisfied

Edit: Knocked it down to an .876 then a .835 back to back with esclipsee's gears set to 2.500

Speaking of 15's I've now got a 1:15:698 :D! 2 days ago I didn't even believe I could go that fast :embarrassed:

That's fast indeed, I think I'm quite happy if I manage 1.15:9xx though it should be doable if I just keep on pushing... This maintance is timed badly for me since it's right at the time I usually play, now I get bit too relaxed waching shows and waiting. I think that after work it's easier to start playing once I'm already agitated :lol:

Threw away about 20 1:16.s last night, ended up with a weak 1:17.1 with miles of time to go.

I swear I nearly frickin' ate my G27 a few times..
 
You're adding ballast yourself thinking this way.

Yeah, I guess if you ain't trying a lap that's like second faster than nobody else's it's always "plausible" not impossible.

But at least I try not to set my self too high, I know this is very much a personal preference but for me it works best in sort of "do the best you can" principle and I have already many times surprised my self doing a lap that I thought was totally out of my reach at the day one, and that's really inspiring for me. But yeah, confidence is a huge factor when it comes driving fast, million times I have spoiled my lap for what I think has just been a sort of insecurity or such...

And for @Stotty, there's a week left, just go for it!!

Good job! I'm a ham-fisted ogre with a ds3 :sly:

I've only been playing gt a couple of months and i've just discovered time trials, they're great. The 97T at spa was my first and I managed about world 150th.

Targeting top 100 on this one :cheers:

General speaking, what's better, with turbo or without?
In this combo the way to go IMO is engine stage 3 + oil change + rigidity improvement, no turbo.

Just combining my best sectors... doing that wouldn't yet get me a 14!

Gearbox- @eclipsee's:
1. Final gear to 3000
2. Top speed to minimum
3. 1st and 2nd gear all to the left
4. Don't tweak 3rd
5. 5th and 6th all to the right
6. Tweak 4th in order to make an imaginary diagonal line from 3rd to 6th
7. Set final gear to 2500 or 2600 (at your will)


Diff- 13/11(Decrease if you want less corner exit oversteer, increase for more)/6

Stage 3 engine, no turbo, reduce power

DF- 400/500

No rigidity improvement


Current time: 15.039 Could be better.

Tune updated with @eclipsee's gears. I also went back to 6/8 brakes which helped.
