The roofline and the distinct hips screams second gen to me, just more pronounced.

The side window looks different than the second gen. The roofline though, i see second gen now that you mentioned it.

Oh, I didn't see the last post on the last page. Only saw the one of half a shell.

Considering that its bumping down from the positively ancient Zeta chassis to the Alpha chassis, in theory, it should be much smaller. Thing is, we don't know if the Camaro is getting a variant that's closer in size to the ATS, CTS, or an entirely different setup just for the Camaro. As much as I'd like to believe that its running on an ATS-sized platform, realistically, I don't know if GM would downsize it that much. The ATS Coupe is exactly three inches narrower and seven inches shorter without giving up any major amounts of space in the interior... So I could be wrong.

Do you think they might develop a modified variant of the Alpha chassis just for the Camaro?

It seems reasonable, as the Camaro sits in-between the ATS and CTS in terms of size already. But, I don't know if GM would want to throw that much engineering at the car when they've already got two pretty good starting places ready to go. The CTS' would probably be far too big and far too heavy (well, relatively speaking) for the goals they seem to have in mind - moving the car closer to the Challenger than the Mustang. The ATS' would probably move the Camaro to be very close to the Mustang in size and weight, or possibly smaller, and if the 2.0T is going to be an engine option, I'd assume that'd be a better choice going forward.

The only thing they'd really need to worry about is product overlap when you get down to that size. Shoehorning a V8 into the ATS probably won't be a problem, but, preventing that Camaro SS from stepping on too many of the ATS-V's toes will be. Given that it'd be the same size, with the extra cylinders people want, it causes a bit of a pickle.

The 6th gen. Camaro to be unveiled May 16 on Belle isle in Detroit.

I've always like the Camaro (Apart from the IROC-Z Concept, tries to hard to be an F40), this looks rather good.

Not for nothing, a Camaro VGT sounds real cool about now. I like how the photo gallery is locked. A few more stars and I'll unlock them bad boys.

It's a thought I had being that GM is in Vision Gran Turismo and GM have introduced the C7 in prototype, preproduction and finished forms. hence the humour in unlocking the photos.

But GM have already made a VGT, the mental 2X

Hot Rod Magazine is claiming the ZL2 will be around 3,400lbs, have a split bumper option along with various intakes/scoops, and a automatic-adjustable rear wing like the Veyron. They are also saying a new engine with displace a familiar 396ci, and will be twin turbocharged along with a turbo 4 cyl for the base models. The new LT6 smallblock will make more than the LT4's 650 lb-ft of torque and they are saying the LT6 uses "twin Garrett GT3776 55mm inducer turbos", each good for 500hp. They say the engine with 8psi is good for 808hp on the dyno and will still be able to rev very high due to a lightweight but strong rotating assembly. The LT4 will be carried over but the new LT6 uses CNC ported head castings from the LT4. Apparently Allison transmissions has been brought in to develop an automatic, and the 7 speed manual is confirmed and possibly and 8 speed.

Hmmmm....I'm starting to like this.

Interesting move in bringing back the 396 CI V8 if that actually happens. I really am wondering if that means that the future COPOs will be turbocharged as well. 800 HP makes it seem like it's going to be a Hellcat fighter. It also probably won't be long before some of the aftermarket is already making 1,000 hp with that LT6 if does indeed make 800.
