Ok, the new GT does definitely look mean. Hopefully they can walk the walk just as well as they can talk the talk.

Not bad Ford, not bad at all. Looks like the GT class will have another reason of interest come 2016... And ironically enough, it's a GT-class... well, GT. It isn't the LMP Ford many were expecting to see, but it's a very good-looking car nonetheless.

Let us see if Ford can write the checks that its car carries...

Why were people expecting an LMP? Multimatic and Ford both were saying GTE, they never mentioned LMP.

I know that, but weren't some hoping to see a LMP program before all the announcements? I was refering to that, actually.

Nevertheless, we now know what is Ford's target come next year... To take the GT crown by storm and give a hearty laugh to General Motors. I want to see that battle unfold, to be honest.

Probably because they were thinking they'd go for the overall win.
I guess that's why people though that. But I kinda knew from the beginning they'd go GT...costs less and shows off their halo car better.

Honestly no...I wasn't personally because I wanted to see this thing join the Porsche, AMR, Corvette, Ferrari battle. Which could be joined by BMW and Bentley *fingers crossed*. GTE needs more involvement. 👍

Well, I wasn't exactly refering to you alone, but you can see it in that way. I was refering to the more general opinion, not anyone in particular, as I said before.

But let's remain on topic; the GT is here, it is going to be a GTE car, and it'll race in Le Mans come next year. And it's also sponsored by Forza. Not saying anything else about the last bit, just pointing it out for laughs.

I'll tell you one thing, the V6T sounds even better in this thing than the DP car. Course it was just a press video but still.

Someone get the Multimatic guys to run the original paint schemes.

We may see an art car or something along those lines for next year, I don't think Ford would pass up on the opportunity of running a retro-inspired livery a la Nissan.

And am I the only one who thinks that horse bit near the end of the press video was a jab at Ferrari? No?

History doesn't always repeat itself, y'know...

No one said that history will repeat itself next year, after all Ferrari, Porsche, Corvette and Aston Martin will all be ready to take on Ford once they come back. It'll be a trial by fire, that's for sure...

How could I forget one of my favorite British car brands? Silly me.

I wish I could also add SRT/Viper, but as the FCA group seems hardly interested in using a proven (and championship-winning) Viper GT project, well...
Hopefully Riley will be back with the Viper next year here at Le Mans at the least.

Yes, that'll be fine, but it isn't quite the same thing, is it? As a GTE AM team, Riley can only do so much with the Viper. It'll be an uphill battle for them come this weekend, but I hope things will go well for them.

As for my other favorites, I'll share them with you:

  • LMP1: It's a tough call here, but I'll go with Audi. Yes, they won just about anything in these races, but there are reasons for that. They aren't the fastest, but consistency is a very strong point in the fields of Dr. Ulrich. And they also have some Portuguese talent in there, courtesy of Felipe Albuquerque, so I have another reason to cheer them on. I'll also be cheering for fellow Portuguese Tiago Monteiro, even though he'll be running in a car that's hardly an example of fast pace (the Bykolles, of course, in case you don't know).
  • LMP2: An easy one for me; Strakka Racing. I was happy to hear that Dome was coming back to Le Mans, and in Prototype racing no less. Yes, their last races have not been the finest efforts, but the S103 has proven it can run with the best when it is allowed to do so. And while so far, their perfomance in Le Mans' pre-race sessions hasn't impressed all that much, hopefully Strakka's experience with LMPs will aid their bid to win in LMP2. Or so I hope, at least.
  • GT: Since I am a GM guy, and foremost a Chevy guy, the Corvettes will be my favorites for this one. While Corvette had a terrible moment with Kevin Magnussen's crash (wishes of a speedy recovery for him, by the way), hopefully they will be able to bounce back and fight to the best of their abilities. Meanwhile, in the AM class, I'll probably pick Riley, since they are the underdogs, trying to keep the Viper competitive against the likes of AF Corse and such. As I said, it'll be an uphill battle for them, but who knows, maybe they'll be lucky...

Can't believe you, from Valongo of all places, forgot Barbosa. Go Krohn Racing !!! (pity he can't drive the 24 hours though, lol)

EDIT - And in GTE Am go Lamy and Aguas, thank you for making your cars (Aston and Ferrari) qualify 1st and 2nd in class.

(nationalistic too much? ;) )
