Same. They have 600HP this year and last I remember that had 472.
According to the commentators they reach equal or higher speeds than the LMP1's at the Mulsanne straight.

They gave them 130 more HP to allow them to pass the GT cars more easily. Guess thats the first time engine power has been increased due to safety reasons. :sly:

One step left!

When he was a kid, Nicolas Prost understood who was is father after he see him in the (semi)fictional comic Michel Vaillant. Today he's driving a once fictional branded "Vaillante" car at Le Mans, sharing seat with Senna's neveu. A victory - they currently lead LMP2 - would complete the picture :D

#9 and dead again. These cars are fragile again. We've got used to 24 hour sprints in recent years. This is old school stuff.

Yes - it's like 1965 again - when all the Ford GT40's failed and the factory Ferrari's - the race was won by an unfancied and much slower Ferrari 250LM driven by Jochen Rindt and Masten Gregory and reputedly Rindt couldn't be found so Ed Hugus had to do one of Rindts stints, but was never credited.

I think it's time for some shut eye - I'm not young enough to pull an all nighter!

I'm not watching the race as I'm currently not home, but how are the Fords doing in their relative class?

Pretty solidly at the moment, the leading Ford is the #69 of Dixon right now; 4th in class after pitting, with the next best car being the #68 of Kanaan in 7th. The formerly leading #67 is 9th after a pit-stop, plus a drive-through earlier on, for overtaking in yellows. And lastly, the #66 is a few laps down, after potential suspension failure/puncture leading it to spin at Indianapolis, so had to be repaired.

I have a feeling that at dinner time tomorrow we'll be looking at a Porsche 1-2 on the timing screens.

What with everything that's gone in the past hour, in a somewhat sinister manner, I really hope that is not the case, granted emotions are fueling this level of resent right now, but still.

Who else is starting to get sick of seeing not just Porsche win but ALWAYS see a German manufacturer win Lemans?
I pointed this out at one Le Mans. Might have been last year. Germany has played a key part in all but one Le Mans victory since 1994. The only team to win in the last 25 years, that had basically nothing to do with Germany, is Peugeot. And their wins came some time apart.

With the discussion of adjusting the LMP1 regs to abolish hybrid power, why not switch to a simpler, non-hybrid setup, and then Toyota dust of my beloved favourite race car of all time; the TS020, and tweak it to fit modern regs. Think of it as a TS021, just a thought (a very ambitious, unrealistic one mind) :D.

I'm German and I agree. Although, it's less an issue with the cars being German, but with them being VAG cars.
Man, I'm not even really sad, just bummed out, it's weird. I just hope that Toyota won't pull out and give up. I'll only be able to die peacfully when i witness a Toyota win Le Mans.

Would be slow as 🤬 though.

Also new ACO regs include more battery/hybrid power from 2020 onwards.
