As much as I've slagged off the Toyotas over the years, even I start to pity their Le Mans curse this year.

Laughing at their misfortune just isn't worth the effort this year.

I agree entirely, I don't wish anything bad on Porsche, as you said it's not their fault. It's Ford's. I continue to hope they all break down!

You take that back! :P, How dare ye hurt the Fords feelings .

It's a combination of everyone still being salty after last years shenanigans, and because all the problems we've had recently are apparently rooted in the suspension failure/puncture that caused the #66 to go off earlier on, and thus it's fault.

Pla weaving his gravel over the racing line caused the safety car which triggered the gremlin which knocked Kobayashi out the race. And more importantly I still haven't got over their terrible tactics to try and get Risi a penalty last year.

Edit: I nearly forgot that I'm annoyed about them cheating the officials on BoP last year, then having the audacity to try it again this year.

Listen, this is the 24 hours of Le Mans and I am still going to do all 24 hours of it, but I do want the #1 to have some trouble. Not because they don't deserve to win, and I don't wanna see a crash. BUT, the next 12 and a half hours get a lot more interesting if we're talking about the #2 Porsche running down the LMP2 leaders than if we're talking about a car with a 10 lap lead for half the way.

Idk about y'all, but I'm still doing the 24.

Yeah, I never got that hate either. Ferrari was sandbagging as much as Ford last year, but for some reason everyone was just going at Ford for it

"Bad luck", "bad luck". Post after post cites bad luck as Toyota's problem. But is it really? I want to see a proper engineering assessment. I don't really want to believe in luck, even though I know it exists. Roger Penske once quipped, " Proper preparation prevents piss-poor performance".

This has been a nightmare year for the flagship class at the Sarthe classic. The spendy, trendy technology mandated seems to be a bridge too far this year.

The technology hasn't changed much since 2014, the main challenge for this year has been that it's so hot.

Exactly, whilst both Ford and Ferrari dominated over the rest of GTE, there was just as much evidence to show that Ferrari were sandbagging, or at least holding back. But everyone jumped on Ford for some reason, whether it was due to the mixed opinion of Chip Ganassi, and divisive nature of the new GT itself, I don't know.

Compared to the performances in GTE and LMP2 I'll have to agree

Because Ford is American, there has always been a dislike of American teams in world sport in general.

Couldn't be more wrong. It's called pushing the limit. These are the fastest cars of all time in sportscar racing. Modern LMP racing is pushing the very limit every lap. Things break. This was story nearly every single year at LM until Audi came along, and even then they had mostly non-factory opposition.

So besides the ridiculous sandbagging it was the audacity and that scumbag move by Chip Ganassi racing to threaten Ferrari about the leader light infraction if they didn't let the other Ford pass so they could sweep the podium. Classless.

That's the one point from last year I will agree with, was unnecessary from Ganassi (not necessarily Ford, as Ganassi himself reported it), but technically he wasn't wrong, in the fact that the Risi Ferrari's number plate was obscured by a fair amount, and it's permitted to be visibly by regs. But it was still not needed, granted.

Aside from that, I don't get why the salt is still in the air about the sandbagging, the Ferrari did it, and many, many teams in all sorts of sports have pulled similar tricks in the past, and will continue to do so. Besides, Ford didn't break any rules per-say in "sandbagging", as they just found a loophole in the regs and the ACO's rather shambolic BoP rules, which let's be honest, is the root of all this, and played said loophole cleverly.

But if the ACO got their act together, and sorted the BoP levels, then such tricks wouldn't be needed, just look at IMSA.
