The Gulf paint scheme has really lost its charm ever since they started sponsoring lesser known teams. Manufacturer ties and strong performances are what kept the paint scheme legendary.

Yea the Gulf design has lost a bit of it's shine somewhat for me too. Apart from sponsoring just about every race car known to man (which usually isn't issue), it's design has been altered and lost it's appeal as it's become more dull.

Personally I really like the shade of blue and orange used on the '96 Mclaren F1. If that shade of blue and orange was used, with the classic Gulf layout, not the perhaps neutered design we have nowadays, then it'd be much better.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Every Gulf scheme is the same retro one, except for that awesome art car Aston ran a few years back. That dark blue would be a lot more appealing.

I think Ford lost out on not putting it on one of their cars last year. But "muh ecoboost" branding.

Yeah, "Ecoboost" never sounded too sexy.

Opportunity lost on them to integrate it anyway. Pretty sure both can occupy the same door/hood space

EDIT: we got a safety car. Oh lord this is gonna wreak havoc on my Dragon Ball Super viewing

To be honest, I'm glad they didn't go down the cliched route, and have a Gulf sponsored livery on the GT. If they were to pay homage to the old GT40, I'd much rather they had either the Gold-Red design of the #21 (?), or the black with grey stripes and Gold wheels of the #2 (?) from the 60's, as two examples. Or better still, mix and match with the 4 cars.

Fixed, it was in GT3. Though, there is an Apollo 440 song in GT2 called "Cold Rock the Mic".

Funny you mentioned that song

Apollo 440 - can't stop the rock was one of the main songs used in the remake of gone in 60 secounds, as I also have the soundtrack to the movie, lol

Personally I think they should have done the colors from their first win if not one of them being Gulf sponsored.

In other news, I hope GT Sport includes the Ferrari 488 GTE/GT3 and the Ford GT GTE.

The Ferrari because why not? The Ford because I can sandbag the online lobby during qualifying. :P

But it's the best looking car on the grid imo, even with that god awful livery Ford forced on it.

Huh. Didn't know that. Sounds fitting enough for that movie

EDIT: @sumbrownkid I wanna see both cars go against the C7.R... and inevitably blow up the livery editor lol

Ahh yes, loved that Apollo 440 song in GT2, in fact I adored PAL GT2's track-list (along with the game), the best of all regions IMO, especially my personal favourite The Stereophonics Bartender and the Thief. Oh and who can forget Fatboy Slim's ****ing in heaven (or "illing" in heaven as one of it's clean titles).

Man, you've got me on a nostalgia trip there...

@AMPMROCKETFANN Yup, Apollo 440 stuck around for quite a bit of the series.
@B_rad88! Ah, I haven't watched that movie in a long time to be honest.

My favorite songs in GT2 are Rob Zombie - Dragula (Remix) and Garbage - "I think I'm paranoid".

I don't think I've seen a Ford livery that wasn't forced since Dale Jarrett's #88 Ford Quality Care NASCAR in the late 90's
