It might not be what you want to see, but the LMP1 class are those fighting for the overall win of the race, so they're obviously going to get more coverage. They only tend to switch between classes when there's a good battle going on or if there's nothing happening in LMP1, which is happens quite often.

Wait until it hits the night time, you'll get hours worth of GT scraps.
In GT they completely failed Balance Of Performance. Aston Martin is killing the race as well. IMO when you fail BOP this way it's better to remove it and let the teams do their stuff. At least would win the better team and not the one who get the most advantage.

I went for a look to find more info about the slick intermediate tyres:

French tyre company, Michelin, which has recorded a record 14 consecutive victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans today announced a new ‘slick intermediate’ tyre designed specifically for LMP1 hybrid prototypes. The new innovation is a slick tyre which can run in damp conditions and replaces the intermediate, patterned tyres of the past.

MichelinÂ’s new hybrid tyre is the fruit of much work by the firmÂ’s engineers to optimise the operating window of its tyres, that is to say the spectrum of temperatures and conditions across which they are capable of performing. The work has been carried out in association with both Audi and Toyota who will be the first teams to benefit from the new technology.

Serge Grisin, Manager of Michelin’s Four Wheel Motorsport programme, said this evening, “We wanted to develop a tyre which will lead to an evolution in performance, energy and efficiency. The new hybrid slick looks exactly like a slick tyre and will be identifiable by its two Michelin stickers instead of the one usually seen. We are looking for a tyre which will give maximum performance and longevity without any trade-off between the two areas. This tyre will meet the requirements of both the Audi and Toyota hybrid LMP1 cars, and it is also available to the Audi R18 ultras.”

Because of the exceptional length of the 14km circuit used for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it is not rare for drivers to come across different conditions at opposing parts of the track. Changeable weather complicates the strategic challenge that teams face during a race, as do varying temperatures and humidity levels, and Michelin is confident this new tyre will meet all those challenges.

Thanks for the info đź‘Ť

Thre GTE cars going to the beach!

It might be time to change tyres. Four GT cars have just cut the Dunlop Chicane because of lack of grip on the track.

Wolfgang Ullrich is having a good chuckle about it.

Did I really hear a blow off valve on the Corvette?

Dunlop chicane claiming many GT cars. A Vette, Aston, and a Ferrari all went off roading.

Yup. They've killed it this year. Hence why I wondered if there was a WEC bias, as the BOP nonsense seems to have affected the ALMS Corvette and Viper teams the most. It's tainting my enjoyment of the GTE classes this year knowing the Aston isn't the fastest GTE car because it's the best car - it was helped by Corvette being hurt by BOP.

EDIT: Jawehawk, I love the Vipers. And weirdly it does seem the Vipers and Corvettes are faster in the wet? Any reason why that would be? I remember a few years back Corvette caught up with a Ferrari in a wet spell and that won them the race...might have been 2011?

Chevy only runs 2, the main Pro cars. The other Vette you see is ran by Lambre in a different class and is from France. They are not the same teams.

Makes sense, corvettes do have some french heritage in it after all. Is the french team essentially a satellite team for Corvette Racing? Which corvettes are in which class?

Is it just me or is Dr. Ullrich the most expressive german in the business?

#8 in the pits. Toyota really have to re-think their strategy if they want to stay competitive.

Strakka Racing @StrakkaRacing
'Yeeeeaaaahhhh. HAHAHAHA.' Danny Watts clearly enjoying #LM24. 17secs quicken than #13 Rebellion on last lap! Heavy rain now on Mulsanne...
