By the way, GT Pro. Ferrari has clearly the best machine but this year organizers limited thier potential way too much with a totally unfair BOP. They're forced to run with very light downforce because organizers reduce fuel size, so with the rain they have no grip. Not to mentions the air restrictor size allowed to Aston and Porsche. Last year Ferrari proved to be the most efficent car, but client teams are not like official teams, in Aston are tired to loose so they bitched about Ferrari efficency. This is not my opinion it's what an Autosprint journalist just said and I agree.

This has already been addressed and the BOP is way off for Vette racing as well. The car is clearly a major improvement over last years, the ALMS shows that but and Corvette Racing Manager Fehan seems to not be worried about it though...I wouldn't fully agree though that the Ferrari is best but I would say they are shorthanded compared to last year, however the Vette is even more so.

The "and then there was 1", that Eurosport were mentioning is something we shouldn't forget.

Audi did it before, they can do it again.

Yeah, I'd say Corvette have been hit harder by BOP. I thought 'Balance of Performance' meant just that - BALANCING performance, as in EQUALISING. Not CRIPPLING.

And besides, why have SRT Viper been hit with BOP too? They're a new startup team who just want to make the finish, why cripple them with performance restrictions when they weren't really a threat to GTE-Pro win anyway?

And why does BOP only apply in GTE-Pro? Why haven't Audi been slapped with it if they keep beating Toyota?

It doesn't make sense, and just leaves a sour taste in the mouth. And I say that as a fan of a team who has benefitted from the BOP this year, Aston Martin :ouch:

For gods sake, only 2 female drivers...

Where are the women in motor racing?

Gachnang is a fast one, and quite a hottie as well if I may say.

Sadly, women still haven't overcome the entire prejudice that separates them from motorsport. It's also a matter of most of then not desiring it. However, I think their presence is growing, albeit slowly.

Prejudice/sexism still exists unfortunately, but let's just say I think Janet Guthrie had to put up with a lot more negative comments/sexism in the 1970s than say Danica Patrick does now. It's got better but still not perfect.

I went to the NASCAR Euro-Racecar event at Brands Hatch a few weeks ago, and was pleasantly surprised to find 2 female drivers in the 22-car field, with 1 more in the Open division field, so 3 total. Not bad, it's getting there.

True, but the lack of female drivers still amazes me. I just don't understand the reason for it.

It's quite simple. There are more men interested in motorsport than females. And who the hell cares what gender the drivers or mechanics are? Of course sexism is still an excuse for some. Women have it sooo tough...

They think the V10 might be too big an advantage and not cut down enough from ALMS. As others have said Le Mans is a bit of a set up these days, with whoever invests the most has a greater influence. If that's the case I'm not sure why people are super happy when Le Mans comes around. The point is even if these groups are given a better BOP than others, it doesn't matter because the race is the true decider of who wins in the end.

Because Audi pours so much money in this sport, I don't think they will ever take any measures to target Audi.

Exactly. The politics behind the FIA are blindingly obvious here.

That said, I'd rather a team be left to win on their own merits instead of whining to the organisers and having their rivals slapped down. So as much as Audi domination bores me, at least they deserve it for having the best car/team. It's not like Toyota whupped them and were then slapped down 👎

I'd say I disagree with the comments/sexism regarding the particular example of Danica Patrick. In my opinion, she's actually responsible for part of that sexism with her attitude and her promotion depending more on her breasts than her skills. There are plenty of other women in motorsport that don't get that coverage just because they have kept their racing suit zipped all the way up.

I want more Gachnangs, I want more De Villotas, more Leena/Deena Gades. And please, let the future hold no more Danicas.

Wow and now Corvette is in 8th so from a couple hours ago to having a solid run at fourth to now being eighth and 2 minutes behind the next guy. That safety car split was BS yet again.

The BOP is the biggest pile of bull I've ever heard. So Ferrari and Corvette were the two best cars at Le Mans in recent years in GTE-Pro. Aston Martin have a whine, and instead of being told to come back with a better car, they slap penalties on Ferrari and Corvette, pretty much crippling them and handing victory to Aston Martin?

Yeah...I just can't quite put my finger on why I dislike the FIA so much these days...:banghead: :banghead:

Much as I love Aston Martin and want them to win, this has tainted it somewhat. Corvette does not go from a GTE-Pro-winning car to an also-ran in one year, especially when they've been beating Ferraris and BMWs in the ALMS as usual.
I agree, Corvette is another car effected by this s***. Ferrari are not using their technology to full potential. I'm ok with horsepower limitations, but the road car had 7 speed gearbox, race car FORCED to use 6 speed gearbox from day one. Ferrari anti block differential is one of the best features, Aston are not at the seme level. And on consumes Ferrari is much better... therefore... LIMITATIONS.

Not to mention Le Mans organizers are the same people that didn't allow Maserati MC12 to enter Le Mans because deemed too fast.

Which is odd as the Viper has hardly been making waves in the ALMS?

Mmmm, hence why I dislike the FIA in general these days - the politics are way too obvious. Especially at Le Mans. I've enjoyed the GT battles in recent years but now it feels artificial and sterile. 👎
