Not everyone is ignorant in the south, just saying... (coming from a Wisconsinite and Californian who now resides in Kentucky)
>in before: The joke, over your head image.
I was just referring to the hillbillies who's lives revolve around NASCAR, beer and guns.

Just heard on the post-race show on 1070thefan.com that Sevedra has a foot contusion.

I'm proud for Juan Pablo Montoya notching up his 2nd Indy 500 victory. As much as Jeff Gordon got me into NASCAR, JPM pretty much got me into (then) CART. I actually remembered watching the 2000 Indy 500 to see Montoya win the Indy 500. After the sucky start he had, he couldn't finish any stronger. Great job by Juan Pablo Montoya. I also want to salute Charlie Kimball on his 3rd Place finish. Highest-placed American in this year's field. Chevrolet went 1-4. Highest-placed Honda was Graham Rahal in 5th.

Can you believe the next running of the Indy 500 will be the 100th? It will be something special to win the 100th rendition of this great race. Bring on the 2016 Indy 500!

And on a serious note, my best wishes go out to the injured persons in the pits during the course of this race. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that incident.

A damn good finish to a race that everyone would be all too happy to forget, with all the controversy and injuries.

Had a question of mine get on to air in the post-race show and I thought I'd ask it to you...

On a scale of 0 - 5 stars, how would you rate the 99th Running of the Indianapolis 500-Mile Race?

I've been interested enough in the Indy 500 to watch it, or listen on radio, since 1960, which featured a red-hot race long battle like the one this year. It rates all 5 stars, with the satisfying bonus that no cars flipped in the race.

I'd give it a 5 as well. That was Indy near it's absolute finest and given the leadup, that's very impressive.

The suits and talking heads on TV like to rhapsodize about how you need such a perfect race to win at Indy. The way 39 year old Juan Pablo Montoya dealt with adversity and setbacks, not all entirely of other people's making, was nothing short of amazing, even inspirational.

This is my first time watching an Indianapolis 500. I guess pCars piqued my interest in motorsport. I had to record it.

Great race. I was rooting for Montoya because he was 30th and moved all the way up. He was also doing some great patient driving. I just had the feeling that he was holding a little back for the end.

My recording ended with 9 laps to go! lol. I had to go online to read he had won.

Great race.

I don't know if I will complain so much about the AI in racing games ruining my race since this happens all the time IRL.

Relax, its the first race weekend with these kits. They'll fix it and hopefully get them where they don't fly. Technically, we only had one incident where the car got airborne without contact. The second was literally caused after the initial impact.

Just saying ;)

Dotini said it best. You just have to make the most of what's given to you. You don't have to drive the perfect race to win. You don't have to dominate every category conceivable to win. Hell- you don't even have to lead a single lap (except the final one, of course). You just have to drive your race and maybe get some help from everybody else. To me, this is standing ovation material for Juan Pablo Montoya to win. Even if you don't like JPM or like making fun of him, you can't fault or debate what a great job he's done today.

This was nothing short of amazing. This was the first time that my father and I actually went to the Indy 500. I've been watching the race since 2011 and ever since then it has been my birthday wish to go there, I finally recieved it this year for my 18th and I have got to say that this was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. I had rooted for Montoya all throughout the race, I had bought a Diecast model of his 2014 car during one of the yellow flags and I held it for the last 20 laps. When he passed that finish line I screamed so loud and hugged my Dad and everything, I was so happy.
Next year is the 100th running planned on the day of my 19th birthday, that is a must go for me at this point, Indy has me hooked!

4 as things are never perfect

Anyone else going to the 100th running of the race?

My neighbor Stan has been attending the 500 for many years. He advises that the best viewing is from the turn 1 grandstands, and not too near the fence!

Book early, and plan on walking to the track. Allow plenty of time to tour the Speedway museum!
