If this is true then awesome, because everyone knows that the Lamborghini Miura is one of the penultimate Italian supercars.

There should be only one penultimate Italian supercar, but using that word is no more inappropriate than using the word "ultimate" to describe a car, IMO. So, say, if the Gallardo LP560-4 was the ultimate Italian supercar, the Miura would be the "next most ultimate" Italian supercar.

What an honor for Kaz, this is an event that rises much higher than any video game. It really shows how much the automotive world appreciates him.

I hope good things for GT5 will come from this. Maybe a GT TV film about the event. That would be so interesting. (I love all cars, even those from the 1900 to the 1940s so I'll enjoy it, don;t know about everyone else. I'm sure while he was on his Monterey trip, he had a chance to visit the Monterey Historics.

I hope he goes to the Goodwood Festival as well and the Nismo and Toyota festivals in Japan.

I reckon there is a good chance that the Lamborghini Miura Prototype will be in GT5.

The Pebble Beach concours d'elegance is one of the most stunning automotive award shows in the world and has really only come to my attention in recent years after I saw some of the most unbelievable classic cars I've ever laid eyes on.

It is great to see Kazunori Yamauchi at these types of events because it shows that he has a very deep appreciation of some rare and seldom-seen machinery. The Muira Prototype may not have been featured in GT5 prior to this, but I have no doubt that after making the award, Kazunori will be endeavouring to feature the car in GT5. It is one of the strongest signs yet that Lamborghini will be featured in the game, but I would not take it as gospel.

Anyone know if he'll be attending Villa d'Este?

Let's not forget 1 very important thing about the 2008 event.

Autoblog: Monterey 2008: Lamborghini featured at Pebble Beach

lambosatpebble_lead2.jpg

While Pebble Beach is perhaps best known as a place to honor classic American and European cars, sports cars have always held a special place in the hearts of the Concours committee and judges. With 45 years under its belt, Lamborghini is certainly deserving of a special place on both counts. As a featured marque here at Pebble, Lamborghini was extremely well represented with a selection of exquisite rare examples. Nine vehicles were on display being judged by 40-year test pilot Valentino Balboni among others.

The lineup of seldom-seen Lambos included the earliest known Lamborghini 350GT, the earliest known Miura, the earliest Miura SV, the Miura Roadster fresh from a yearlong restoration that swapped its army green paint for the correct blue metalflake, a 350GTS, 350GTZ by Zagato, an early LP400 Countach, and three one-off concepts - the 1990 P140, 1996 Raptor, and the Gallardo Concept S. A truly spectacular selection of models representing the fabled Italian marque. Check out the gallery below and follow the jump for the full press release.

Here is a write up of the event i did on another forum.

I am an exuberant fan of the Gran Tursimo series and also a big fan of its creator Kazunori Yamauchi. Besides introducing the world to GT, being fully involved with the development of the Nissan R35 GT-R, and being allowed to model Ferrari's 2007 F1 car, he was a guest at the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Kaz was a judge at the show and was there to award the Polyphony Digital Trophy to a deserving car.

This event rises above just video games as this is the ultimate classic car event and only the greatest cars win here.

Besides being a guest of the event, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi was an honorary judge.

Just like always this is not an automatic sign that Lamborghini will be in GT5 but it shows that it is more likely.

Well, even if it isn't the best. Then it's deffo the sexiest.

A good thing about this deal is that more classic cars are getting some love. I'm certain that if Lamborghini was included, I'm sure lots of people will want to race Lamborghinis ranging from the classic Diablo VT to the Reventon would be requested including lots of other Lambos (even if you want the LM002). If they do nab Lamborghini, then I'd be most happy if they get the Reiter Engineering Murciélago GT-R (a WICKED fast car with sweet engine noise!).

There's nothing like the Pebble Beach Concours. It is a classic showcase of beautiful cars of the past in this post-modern world. I'm not fully educated on the Miura to say I sincerly know and love the car. It is a very nice car. If included in GT5, that's a car I wouldn't mind racing in a Historic Car Cup. Only game I raced this car in was "Test Drive Unlimited."

I also want the Lamborghini's from the JLOC competing in the JGTC - the Countach and Diablo

Another thing about this deal is that this will shut up most haters who think that all Kazunori Yamauchi cares about are Skylines. If all he cares about Skylines, then explain how he loves a car like this.

He already stated that Skylines are now as important as american or european cars. Just see Prologue's car portfolio and it says all. And even all those perfect sounds of Vette, Viper or Ford GT are good surprise in Prologue for us all.

All of this is just a sign of a maturing franchise (even for me to admit). Only direction the series can go is up. My previous post was more a rhetorical question than something I actually wanted to ask. All that remains is Porsche if we see Ferrari AND Lamborghini. Then the Forza heads might give the GT series a second opinion.

That Miura Jota SVR in Post #14? Sick car! Lovely.

I was under the impression that this was already known.

The only thing I was ever under the impression of was the winner of some award from SEMA getting their cars 'digitally added' to GT...I've never known about any event outside of SEMA.

It is a shame that the best in show didn't win, but I couldn't see those owners letting anyone touch that Alfa whether it be PD or a valet. Shame because I really want GT to have some pre-war cars as opposed to the majority's wish to add more ricey NFS mobiles. This is a game for car guys afterall, not ricers.

The Miura is a fine choice though. I love hearing that metallic whine when it upshifts. Hopefully that can be properly replicated.

Source?

From what I've seen most people want the opposite.

I was under the impression that this was already known.

Well, no, not exactly. Thus far, most merely assumed that the award was simply meant to suck up to Lamborghini in an attempt to get the license.

With the exception of SEMA, it was generally believed that PD didn't model winners of awards.

Kazunori recognizes the importance of Lamborghini, so I do hope he acknowledges them and adds a few.

Lamborghini Miura, Diablo, Murcielago (Gallardo, too), Countach and Reventon.

Funny, I don't seem to see "Dan the dipstick" from Turn 10 in this picture.

You see Dan? See where being classy gets you? If he would just shut his damn mouth he would probably be up to (not quite to) Yamauchi's relationship with the auto industry.
