Well, it's been a little over 5 years, and I thought I'd start a thread for all of us to take a moment and share the sillier things we've learned about our game before GT5 finally gets released and the GT4 forum becomes totally empty. :( For instance, I shall start.

Off the top of my head, I've learned a couple things.

1). The sun never sets, weather never changes in Germany or France, even over a 24-hour period. :boggled:

2). Autumn Ring is perpetually stuck in the fall season.

....

1) The Spyker looked gorgeous, but was infact massively disappointing - a bit like my ex-girlfriend.

2) You can play GT4 over a LAN, but you need a LAN hub, more cables than a Swiss ski lift, and magical powers to operate it successfully.

3) Even Jack Bauer can't get the 1886 Daimler Motor Carriage round the Nurb in less than 24 hours.

3) Even Jack Bauer can't get the 1886 Daimler Motor Carriage round the Nurb in less than 24 hours.

I'm sure he can, all he needs are either a tow truck or for the 1886 Daimler Motor Carriage to be an IKEA-built replica that can fit in the back of a Audi station wagon.

Oh, and here's another one: even if it's the middle of July, there's still snow at Chamonix and the Ice Arena.

Parnelli, I shouldn't worry about the GT4 forum dying. The GT3 forum still gets some (read: about 10) visitors each day!

and along the same lines:

It only ever rains in 1 specific part of Japan, namely Tsukuba, and even then infrequently enough that you only see it's legacy on the wet track.

Others I've noticed:

Orange plastic netting is enough to stop a 1.5 tonne car moving at 85mph from plummeting into the Grand Canyon.

One i've noticed is that the fans at the rally tracks are both 2D and are able to step back at the exact right instance... no mater what... i've tried.

yeah, i only have gt4 and a ps2 so these empty forums start to annoy me.

Corvette Z06 Sounds like a vacuum cleaner

The Wheels arent attached/connected to the Brakes

Even at a 200 Mph crash, cars wont rollover

:P still, good game 👍

6 are enough, but it would be reeeeeeaaaaaaalllllyyyy boring to watch. ;)

I've noticed that the Yellowbird's oversteer is completely backwards. Ridiculous grip on the gas, and crazy liftoff oversteer off the gas. :odd:

Nope, that's exactly right.
Go talk to any owner of an old 911 or 930 Turbo too.
They're absolutely renowned for lift-off oversteer, especially if you lift mid-bend as a whole load of weight, i.e. the engine, is behind the rear wheels.
It's why so many inexperienced 911 drivers tended to park their cars backwards through hedges and it's also made worse by wet roads. It's the only time I've briefly lost the back (though thankfully it wasn't going quick, and was easily recovered) and hence why many older cars don't get driven hard (or indeed at all, if possible) in the rain.
To drive fast, the Yellowbird really does epitomise the slow-in, fast-out style, you can't go into the corner too hot, and you can't stomp the throttle and let go again mid-bend, you absolutely have to adhere to Jackie Stewart's advice that you shouldn't go full-throttle until you're absolutely sure that you won't have to lift again when you exit a bend.

...Yea, I was gonna say the same about Tsukuba. It only rains on this track in GT4, yet we never get to witness it when it rains. We only get to race just after it's over. :grumpy:

...speaking of rain, it NEVER rains in Seattle (apparently):lol: but how come when I lived there, it was drizzly, overcast, and/or rainy roughly 70% of the year?

...all Ford Mustang Cobra Rs have an incurable serpentine belt whine. :boggled:

...if you buy a wing kit for your car, the front spoiler is invisible, yet we can still manipulate it. :sly:

It's possible to buy more than one of a racecar (You can have a garage full of '99 Toyota GT-Ones)

You can actually buy a LeMans racecar at a regular dealership. (or even at a used car lot)

Only men wearing khakis, red flannel, and black T-shirts are allowed to watch off-road/'special condition' races. Females are apparently all banned. :dunce: So are men who decide not to wear clothes fitting the apparent dress code.

You know i tihnk its a conspiracy to keep Women out of GT, i mean they had nearly all the lengendary Group B machines except for one Audi !

Add to that, it was quoted at around 285Kw, but even after buying it and changing the oil, you'd struggle to get 260Kw.

Also.......

R35's are already tuned to be 7 second cars and rival Escudo's down the 1/4 mile.
A Subaru can do 7 second 1/4 miles and 310mph.
A Front Wheel Drive car can do 400km/h with only 450hp and some nitrous.

That's just some off the top of my head.

1) Cars that do wheelies always hit the fastest top speed.
2) The wheels at GT Auto (even the used ones from other cars) will always fit.
3) Sometimes the fastest and easiest way around a track is by hitting walls and plowing through the grass.

You can plop down to the local used car dealer and grab some nice gems, like a Lotus Carlton, or a Corvette Grand Sport.

Airfare is completely free, and it comes complementary with a driver's license.

Rebel pilots love to watch races at Monaco.

It is more than enough to put a chain link fence at the top of a cliff after a long straight.

Sileightys are not rare, and often show up in vomit yellow at the local used car dealer, as well as the ABC sporty kei cars.

When changing oil, you don't need to open the hood. You also disappear.

If you spin a car around fast enough, it becomes clean.

Great thread Parnelli!!

When racing at the Nurburgring you'll always snag the fence on the last corner of the track as the grid forms up at the start of a race. I'll have to watch for that if I ever try my hand at the VLN...

When refilling your car in a pistop it doesnt matter if the refueller is nowhere near the fuel cap, the car will still be refuelled.

It only takes ten seconds to double the horsepower of any given car.

Ditto that for completely stripping a roadcar down to a bare minimum.

Las Vegas has a dragstrip smack bang in the middle of The Strip and for some reason I've never heard about it.

An unlimited track session at the Nurburgring only costs a handful of credits and for some reason the track's empty everytime.

Entering the JGTC with a GT300 or a NGT car like the M3 GTR car often results in outright victory. Why hasnt BMW tried this?

If you run out of gas, your top speed will simply be reduced to 50mph.

To change the oil on a 4WD car, simply crawl under it from one end to the other.

You can enter the LeMans 24 hour race in your mom's Volvo station wagon.

You can drive a car from the 90's on a track the way it was in the 80's.

You can listen to music in stereo quality. Even if you're driving a vintage vehicle from the 1880's.

Compact cars simply bounce off of the the front of a Dodge Ram.

If you intentionally go the wrong way in a race, you'll never be black flagged.

You don't have to search everywhere to find a part for your car. (Good news for you Aston Martin owners out there.)

If you buy a specific type of tire, you get a lifetime's supply of that tire for free. (Not transferable to other cars though.)

Normal car tires are always free.

Car maintenance is a thing of the past. (Actually, it's like it never happened or will ever happen.)

If you look at a race monitor, you have the power to speed up time itself.

Drive around the Monaco track, but carefully look at the people outside the track. You'll see a few groups of rebel pilots. if you want, I'll grab some pictures when I'm doing my next photo shoot tonight.

You never have to pay an entrance fee, even for the most high-profile races, and yet you always get large payouts even for finishing in last.

If your car is sitting in the deepest sand-pit, don't worry, even on worn-out slicks you'll loose about 5sec only

Hundreds of thousands of people turn up to watch a stock Honda Jazz race against an Insight, Prius, C3, Micra and a Mini One.

You pay a handful of credits to test at a track but its cheaper if you want to take photos as well.

Yea, I've seen 'em. I think I even pictured a few in one of the Guess-track posts.

......Here's another one. :dopey: Doesn't matter how much we drive in the dirt or drop wheels in sandy areas, the dust always settles within 10-15 seconds (actually, it doesn't settle, it merely disintigrates!)

Oil changes always cost 50 credits. Doesn't matter if it's an '88 Honda Accord (3.7 quarts), Dodge Neon (4.5), Dodge Ram with a 5.7 Hemi (7 quarts), or '55 Mercedes Benz 300SL (10 quarts).

:dunce: FAIL
