A little something interesting for some people.

A lot of the time on GT4, me and my friends/family members choose to race each other with cars that we'd be able to buy with our real life funds (a kind of a "If you decided to blow all your real life money on a car, what would it be?" kind of thing) then we'd pick that car on arcade and race each other with them.

Now we'd always just take 1 GT credit as 1 english pound. but, as i've been bored recently and had nothing to do. i just thought i'd try to work out roughly what the credit exchange rate would be.

i managed to work this out by taking the average of 2 cars by working out their real world list price and comparing it to their GT list price. then finding the average between the rates to find my very own "exchange rate"

in GT PSP you start with 100,000 credits so i decided to work from there.

Cr.100,000.00
= £ 70,365.50
= $112,275.20

Cr-£ = Cr/1.42115064=£ | £-Cr = £*1.42115064=Cr
Cr-$ = Cr*1.12275241=$| $-Cr = $/1.12275241=Cr.

£ = GBP
$ = USD
Cr = Gran Turismo PSP Credits
* = Multiply
/ = Divide

Cars used to work this out were the Mazda2 (Demio) 03 and a Nissan Fairlady Z roadster (Z33)

if anyone is interested they could decide to research more cars and find a more accurate exchange rate. I just thought it'd be fun to find out how far your real money goes in a fictional game.

If I decided to blow all my real life money on a car, what would it be?

Mine would be a Mitsubishi FTO GP Version R '99

What would yours be?

Just some of them. I remember that in PAL version Peugeot 106 cost about 18,000€. Now in reality, after launching, it was at the same price as in GT4.

I couldn't afford a real life 1987 Buick Regal GNX. Those things cost a lot of money. Upwards of $100,000 for a mint one, and around $60-80K for an abused, I mean used, one. ;-)

So next one down would be a 1987 Buick Regal Grand National. ;-) But then I'd have no $ left over to repair & upgrade it. So that takes me down to the 1987 Buick Regal T-Type (Or Turbo-T depending who you ask). I'd get one in Gun Metal grey or Piano Black, with T-Tops. I'd redo the upholstery in leather, swap out the gauges for GNX ones, have a properly fitted NAV/Satellite Radio unit installed, have upgrades done to get her into the 350-400HP range with twin turbos and real dual exhaust. Improve body/frame stiffening, and most importantly have the suspension & breaking upgraded to improve handling & breaking. I'd have to do more research with regard to getting either a manual 6 on the floor or one of those manumatic transmissions installed. I'd love to have a "functional" ground effects kit installed, but I've not seen any in my searches.

I know this is not what most people would do or seem to do, they'd gut the car down, drop some skinny tires up front, tub the rear and turn it into a straight line drag strip killer. I however want to drive and take turns on a technical race course, yet be able to go out cruising with it as well. It's a compromise, but that's how Id spend my money if I could throw caution into the wind. ;-)

I wouldn't be able to find a Midnight purple R34 let alone afford one...So my second choice would be 1998 Integra Type R.

GT car prices were NEVER based on real life prices, right?

I once wonder about this; The GT-R SpecV in real life cost ¥15,750,000, and the price in GT PSP is Cr.15,750 (I think).

I'll check that after my car cycle laps again.

generally its ¥100 = $1 so it should be around Cr. 157,500 if converted to dollars.

and it is

are there really only like 10 cars that are 2006 or newer in GT:PSP?

The car list is based off the GT4 list, with a few exceptions. I am just glad that they did add some new cars (GT-R specV, Corvette ZR1, etc) as well as new manufacturers (Ferrari, Bugatti, Lamborghini).
