Well hello GTP I have a question for you. Last year my PS3 broke and I got rid of it and I used to always drift on GT5 and the scene was pretty big, but I'm getting a PS3 next week and my question is: has the drifting scene got smaller or even bigger? Hope you guys can answer my question. :)

It kinda shrunk cause people are tired of running on the same tracks & want something more out of this game. We're just waiting for a drift update really(which may be a longshot, but could possibly happen)

I see, well thank god it isn't dead, as long as I can still drift with a decent amount of people then that's fine, I know the JDM/Cruise scene is big because my friends still do it and they always have a full lobby haha. And is there any news on a new update recently?

People got tired of Tsukuba (including myself). I noticed that the public lobbies aren't as vast as they used to be. The other night when I hopped on, I saw just one Drifting room and it was at (big surprise) Tsukuba. I have to say that it's really depressing, honestly. :(

I've been trying to get more people into drifting at different courses, plus my own touge course I made in Course Maker. Unfortunately I can only get non-GTP people interested if it's Tsukuba. Anyone else that's interested in hitting different courses? I think it would be fun to run Trial Mountain, Deep Forest, Nurburgring GP, etc. I just can't find the people that would like to outside of this forum.

Some people don't like it, but I'm a huge fan of Deep Forest. And I don't mean just backwards entry sessions on the first corner.

I haven't even been drifting that long and I'm already bored of Tsukuba... Trial Mountain and Deep Forest are great though, as well as Eiger.

Most wheel users, including myself, love these types of tracks. With a controller, some of the elevations and banks can be a bit tricky so most beginners, or someone looking for an easy track, choose Tsukuba.

To the OP, public lobbies are getting a bit smaller BUT private rooms are blowing up. Most good or pro drifters usually keep to private lounges to keep the noobs away (the rammers, no drift line, non consistant tires etc.).

SO, I wouldn't say the drifting scene is dying down, I'd say its more hidden than before, more underground.

Yer man the same people are still knocking about.

Most people are in teams etc but a lot of us know each other and have open lobbies, a lot of teams do missile Tuesday and Thursday nights which are usually a good turnout.

Drifting on GT5 is always getting bigger. If it was shrinking there would be far less teams. People get bored because they repetitively drift the same cars and tracks. I drift lots of cars and drift my self-made tracks as well as the normal ones like SSR5 reverse and Indy

I would be more than happy to drift on different tracks. I'm pretty inconsistant, so I need more practice on tracks other than Tsukuba. If you don't mind an intermediate drifter tooling around on your track with you, I'm in. Let me know.

For the OP, I've been in a lot of rooms with a lot of drifters coming and going. One room I was in for 3 hours and there had to be at least 35 different people in there throughout my stint. I wish I had been drifting earlier to see what it was like before!

I'd say the scene is a bit smaller now but the people who are still around are the ones who really care about drifting, so the scene is better. Before, there were lots of pretenders.
