Well, I had been running this with an RX-7 & Mark IV. I had seen no sign of the dreaded dragon (FXX). I gathered my trusty TS030 to go meet the vile beast. He finally appears after fighting a Bug & an Enzo. I must have met the short bus version, as he was not much of a fight. Now I can go race this with the other cars, you just have to do less than 10 minute races if the dragon shows up. Toyota takes most of the fun out of the race.

Yeah, I did it with the TS030, turning 1:50-1:51 laps. Beat the FXX by about 30 seconds. Yawn.

I hate racing AI, so I almost never repeat after winning. I don't need any more credits or cars.

Your post confuses me. You say yawn after crushing the FXX with the miscategorized, 600 PP, TS030. Why not try the other 35 or so 600 PP cars that most people can't beat the FXX with? Everybody is different.... The last car I would try in the event is the TS030. I say yawn to beating the FXX in a car that all average or above GT6 racers can win with. I despise the TS030 almost as much as I do the Suzuki GSX-R!

I purchased the TS030 on 1/5/2015 and it still has zero miles on it!

You despise it because you haven't driven it. It's gnarly, and the interior is sick.

Very well said. I just have to shake my head every time I see a post like "Used the 2J. I won by 12 seconds on my first lap!! Come on PD!! Where is the challenge?!" Substitute 2J with Suzuki GSX-R/4, Toyota TS030, Tommykaira ZZII or the NSX-R LM Road Car and my feelings are still the same. Yes...Those cars are ringers. That's why you continuously see them used for the bi-weekly hot lap Seasonal Events.

There are plenty of cars that can be used to make this event a challenge, if that's what you're looking for. I would guess that if someone is yawning at the difficulty of the race, they are looking for more of a challenge. Sadly, it is up to you, the driver, to make it a challenge.

On a personal note, I always enjoy your posts @DisabledRacer. You always pick some very interesting cars to use in these A-Spec races.

I don't think people have to use the ringer cars for the challenges, but if you don't drive them at all your missing out. Running at spa or the ring in the hybrid using the cockpit view with everything else on the display turned off is quite an experience.

I will admit that I do like the Toyota TS030 quite a bit. I was a really big fan of the Audi R18 before we received the TS030 in an update. I still like the R18, but when I need to use a Prototype class vehicle for something specific I like to go with the TS030 now.

Read my second sentence.

I hate the A-Spec seasonals. Hate AI. I do them once to get the prize for gold and move on. I have no interest in making them more challenging or repeating them.

Hence the YAWN

If anyone just wants to grind this, use the Toaster and do shortcuts. I manage high 1:36 laps and 8:3x overall times for very easy credits. Good to get some money in the coffers without worrying about the opposition.

Check out this tune from @Otaliema https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/tunes/zytek-z11sh-greaves-motorsport-13.1659/

Easy 17 second win over the Enzo, was lapping 1:56-1:57's.

Edit: 4 seconds loss against the FXX, could be closer but have to drive perfect.

I used this tune today and i only got second behind the FXX but only 0.559 seconds.
I could have ram into it but i prefered to be clean.
My lap times were 1'55"...,1'56"...,was held op 2 times a little in the second lap (1'57...) what was my slowest.
But after all,it has potential to beat the FXX.

Drive another time with the TS030 and my lap times were between high 1'51"... and low 1'53"... so even the FXX wasn't competition.Finished almost 18 seconds behind me.

Just a general question:could a win decided by the starting place of the FXX?
When it starts in second position after the Veyron, you're chances are higher or not?
I think it's harder to close the gap when it starts in first position.

I've running the Toyota TS030 recently which has about 20 HP over the Zytek. Even against the FXX it is an easy win. Usually in the lead by the end of the third lap.

may i kindly ask for the tunes ?
wondering if i can beat the FXX also with them.

Do you have a tune for the McLaren that you can share?? I love this car but need a better tune to beat the FXX. Thank you!!

I used a Praiano tune, but had to slightly modify it to use it at 600 PP. Even though I used the base model, this tune will work.

MCLAREN F1 GTR KOKUSAI '95.jpg

The changes I made were to the power and transmission. I did an oil change and then set the power limiter to 86.5%..... Standard engine tuning and NO turbo kit.

Transmission: set final gear to 4500, then max speed auto-set to 137 mph.
I set individual gears to:

1st. 3.198
2nd. 2.440
3rd. 1.960
4th. 1.597
5th. 1.318
6th. 1.112

Set final gear to 3.340.

My rookie gearing isn't perfect, but you can tweak it to suit your needs.

ALL credit goes to Mr. Praiano.

I can post the Loctite Mugen NSX '01 tune if anyone wants it? It was something I threw together that worked good enough for me to beat the FXX..... But I'm no professional tuner, so don't expect much from my tune should you use it!

Now that I've tried running this one normally, the FXX is indeed one hell of a beast. Only my Toaster has been able to beat it so far.

I also tried a car I've been meaning to give a spin, but never got around to: the Storm V12 by Lister. It unfortunately understeers enough that I felt I was doing the GT Academy round 1 challenge all over again, but it's still an enjoyable drive once you tame it. Good power in it, too. Entirely unsuited to beating the FXX, but still a cool car.

I ran against fxx in gran turismo Ford gt and new Nissan gtr touring car. Both times I only beat the fxx by a few tenths. That car is wicked fast.

Won fairly easily with the Nomad Diablo GT1, however I think I got the easy field (12C and the Veyron were the lead rabbits). Felt like the Lamborghini was a bit unstable in the fast sweepers but great turn for such a huge car.

I haven't been put up against the FXX yet but I can imagine it sure makes for an interesting race. I wonder what's the slowest car the can win this event? Corner cutting would lead to some funny results.
