we're waiting for the PS4
fishtailrook1 (?)
I recieved this as a foreward as part of the Wit that I regulary get from my cousin. I am seriously considering sending this to the three US presidential candidates.
WOULDN'T IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR ANY U.S. PRESIDENT, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN GIVE THE FOLLOWING SPEECH?

My Fellow Americans: As you all know, the defeat of the Iraq regime has been completed.

Since congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete removal of all American forces from Iraq This action will be complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the reckoning.

Before me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list is short . The United Kingdom , Spain , Bulgaria , Australia , and Poland are some of the countries listed there.

The other list contains every one not on the first list. Most of the world's nations are on that list. My press secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this evening.

Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war. THEN EVERY YEAR THERE AFTER IT'll GO TO OUR SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM SO IT WONT GO BROKE IN 20 YEARS.

The American people are no longer going to pour money into third world Hellholes and watch those government leaders grow fat on corruption.

Need help with a famine ? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France .

In the future, together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home . On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.

Thirsting for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France or maybe China ..

I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France , Germany , and Russia .. Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well. Bonne chance, me z a mies.

I have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped, shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty pertains to this. You creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid tickets. Pay those tickets tomorrow or watch your precious Benzes, Beamers and limos be turned over to some of the finest chop shops in the world. I love New York

A special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2. Since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you folks might want to try not pissing us off for a change.

Mexico is also on List 2 its president and his entire corrupt government really need an attitude adjustment. I will have a couple extra thousand tanks and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess where I am going to put 'em? Yep, border security.

Oh, by the way, the United States is abrogating the NAFTA treaty - starting now.

We are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we'll be drilling for oil in Alaska - which will take care of this country's oil needs for decades to come. If you're an environmentalist who opposes this decision, I refer you to List 2 above: pick a country and move there.

It is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by saying, 'darn tootin.'

Nearly a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in America It is time to eliminate homelessness in America . To the nations on List 1, a final thought. Thank you guys. We owe you and we won't forget.

To the nations on List 2, a final thought: You might want to learn to speak Arabic.

God bless America .. Thank you and good night. "

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier.

ladies and gentlemen, this message reflects a LOT of the current US attitude, and most of my personal beliefs. I've heard a lot of "get your nose outa our bloody business" in places.

Grumbling appreciated from all sides.
will a mod please babysit this thread, just in case?

Well, let's put it like this: I'd be really interested to see what would happen to the rest of the world if the USA did start to just "mind their own business" (no offense to be taken). I really am...

Nice idea, but a little short on research. The principle is good!

I personally love the scene in 'Dave' where he uses the televised session to rebalance the nation's books to save the shelter. Hilarious and... one has to think... entirely plausible.

Interceptor: we tried that. there were two reasons we got zocked...world wars 1 and 2 (admitidly, all we did with the Great War was help clean up)

Sureshot: who knows, but I rightfully doubt it.

Venari: this is crossposted from an email. none of it is my words. and if you recognise the source, tell us.

Have any world leaders ever used the word Hellhole in a speech?

Well, given that we won't start another one, maybe it's time for a new approach.

No... they're too busy making sure they seem all professional...

Personally, I agree with the general concept of this email. Now we just have to find someone to run for president and agree with it...

To me that sounds very much like a "help us or be our enemies" type threat. Life and politics is a lot more complex than that, there will be times when your friends refuse to help you on certain matters, that doesn't suddenly mean they're enemies.

EDIT: Thinking about it, wouldn't this be better off in the opinions forum?

So the uhh... Iraq war is a success? Any country that didn't aid the US (as if they needed aid, ha!) during the war is basically an enemy of the US? Would this also mean the US would stop buying oil from foreign countries, even if said foreign countries didn't support them in the war?

If you have a friend who's a bully, and he wants to beat a kid and asks for your help, are you morally obliged to help him?

Wow... I thought it was serious until- forget it.

For the current U.S. attitude, that was spot-on. It sounded like something Bush would have said if he didn't have a speech writer working for him.

As for your point, Diego: That was what it would have meant.

Almost sounds like Ron Paul, except there'd be no foreign aid to any nation, but the encouragement of friendship and mutually beneficial trade.

Makes me wonder how abysmally poor his campaign politicked and managed to not be on top.

On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends from the face of the earth.
Yeah, just like you did to Al Qaeda! Oh, wait...

I am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with France , Germany , and Russia .. Thanks for all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as well. Bonne chance, me z a mies.

We should have diplomatic relations with every country we can, problems are much better solved with words then shooting each other. And what in the world should we have against NATO? They supported our hair brained idea to make a missile defense system whether it's right or wrong.

Need help with a famine ? Wrestling with an epidemic? Call France .

So if we are the "best" nation on Earth we should turn a blind eye when human tragedy is happening? I thought we were about protecting human rights and needs?

We are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we'll be drilling for oil in Alaska - which will take care of this country's oil needs for decades to come. If you're an environmentalist who opposes this decision, I refer you to List 2 above: pick a country and move there.

That's right, lets ruin one of our largest natural resources areas for a little bit of oil. How about having an American automaker figure out cars that run on something else, or have Boeing really stick it to Airbus by figuring out a plane that runs on something else? That would be far better, both for our country's economics and our environment.

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you are reading it in English, thank a soldier.

The reason I am reading this in English is because my ancestors came from the United Kingdom and the soldiers that allowed this country to stay that way are long since dead.

This "letter" is awful and it's this attitude that makes me dislike this country, we are not the best in the world no matter how much we want to think so, there is no best culture or best way of life. The world is about being connected, there is a very real chance that we will need help some day because something terrible hits our country. Yes, 9/11 was bad, but how many people died? 3,000? It could be worse, we could get a pandemic like the Spanish flu one in 1918 that killed 500,000. What are we going to do then if a country like France has a vaccine for the said illness that is affecting us and they don't want to sell it to us because we've cast them away?

If any politician got up there and read this they would not receive my vote.

I do believe foreign aid needs to be re-evaluated (not just from the US) and overhauled in some locations but this email you received is a very hard line that would have countless repercussions.

or have Boeing really stick it to Airbus by figuring out a plane that runs on something else?

Generally it's the engine makers/designers that figure most of that part out (RR, GE, P&W etc), so it would be pretty universal for both Boeing and Airbus.

Good point about Boeing, but I still think they could push a company like GE to develop some sort of alternative jet engine. Obviously it isn't the simple but I would like to see something start going that way.

Um, I thought the figure was 100 times that for the Spanish flu pandemic? Or was that the figure for US casualties?

Um, I thought the figure was 100 times that for the Spanish flu pandemic? Or was that the figure for US casualties?

US only. The estimates world wide are closer to 100million people I believe.

this is a thing for grumbling about. again, I've already asked, IN THE FIRST POST, that a mod be handy to babysit this. plus, it is up to them to scoot stuff around. I'm only a cog in the machine here.

Joey D: the conservatives are still of the opinion that global warming is being faked by overzealous scientists. a lot of what I've heard from "Regan Conservatives" matches some of the opinions in here. the Doemestic oil problem is one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't" propositions; if you drill, you destroy the wilderness reserves, if you don't, the arabs keep getting our money. a no win situation.

the main thing here is pointing out the US money crunch. because of the sheer waste we were raised with, we think of that as absolutely normal. then there was the post-war population boom, and ZOCK. this is why, in the US, it's cheaper to replace something outright than attept to repair it. either the prices of parts or the labor are rediculus.

I never said global warming is the result of us driving cars, I just think for economics reason we need to switch to something that is more viable and will be around longer then oil will. I don't want to have to pay $100 every week to put fuel in my car. Drilling for oil isn't the answer, vehicles that run on something else is.

I pay 200 a week, acting as a Taxi service for cash.

untill they find a way to make other propulsions effects as cheap as the Internal Combustion engine, THEN they'll do it
yes, I've heard of the Tesla Roadster and all the alt fuels...and they're still not dead common enough to be cheap.

Oil prices will continue to rise to the point that it'll be a gold in it's own right.

Oil is vital at this moment in time, Biofuel is a pointless go between, I firmly believe that Hydrogen power is the way to go.

You seem to lump all Arabic states together, Sniffs?

Alternative fuels aren't going any where because the oil companies are holding them back. As I've said, I get about 32mpg in the city and that should be what midsize sedans are getting now...by all accounts a Cooper should be getting upwards of 70mpg. But it's not like that because companies don't seem to care about advancing the technology.

And for the record quite a bit of oil comes from South America as well, so it isn't just the Arabic world.

Hydrogen will only be usable when it's cheap to make a running engine on it.

did you read the word "domestic"? they want us to use ONLY our own oil to cut the feeder from the middle east. what they meant was the oil located in pockets under parks and preserves, which, if they tap into, will destroy said preserves. a no win situation.

No need for this to wait until we pull out of Iraq. We could/should start that right now with the vast majority of the nations we're helping. And there's no need for the savings to prop up the failing social security system. That's good money after bad. How about actually shrinking the size of government? Give the money back to the citizens we took it from?

Best to punish the mexican people for the choices of their corrupt government eh? Border security is important, but this isn't the solution either.

Not by turning military spending into social programs.

I must be the only one in the world who thinks Iraq is turning into another Vietnam :P

we're even having Automotive deja Vu with the return of the Muscle car era. at this rate, ther'll be an OPEC crisis in '13 :P

Iraq isn't as callous as Vietnam was. Agent Orange anyone? (there is no Dale Winton link btw)
