Medigo, BUY THAT!!! That is NOT a common car, it would be insane to ever see one go up that cheap again. The body looks to be in good shape too. 1JZ Swap? :D

Didn't think people would be supportive of it. I've always loved classic Japanese cars and this fits the bill very well. Especially the fact that I was told the car has little to no rust. Heck, I don't think I'd ever see a car like this EVER again for sale, let alone in Maine. Been emailing the person who posted the ad (friend of the owner/seller) and negotiations are sounding good, but no definite price yet. It will be lower than what's listed and I asked to get the price reduced even more to not include the "rebuildable" Inline-6 from the Celica-Supra.

I've NEVER worked on a project car, but I have a friend who's worked on lots of cars and has his very own workshop. I would like to do a 1JZ swap, but...this would also sound a tad crazy. My friend has connections and suggested that he could get me an SR20 notchback from the Silvia S15 with wiring harness and 5-speed transmission for the price of buying a 1JZ AND shipping it without the transmission. Was also told he could get me an RB20 for $1200 with harness and tranny. With my current limit with money, I think I'll go for the SR20. Nissan engine in a Toyota, some people said that's crazy.

Have any of you seen American Pickers? Some of the places those guys go and the amount of cars they find in barns, basements and fields are amazing.

I watch more Canadian pickers, but yea they find some cool stuff.

As for that old Toy, that's definitely cool. I'd buy that.

The first picture from HumanDestroyah has already been posted and I have a feeling the Spoon Integra has been as well. Nevertheless, still a pain to see those...

Here's a barn find that I'm planning on buying. :D

Call me crazy, insane, or stupid, but I want to buy this. Badly.

omfg that thing is CLEAN. Man, get it now. Even if you just restore it to original, that is a seriously cool and rare car. If you're really going to go swap-swap, screw the japanese foodblenders and drop in a V8, I'm sure that thing will swallow any small block you throw at it. Then drive it around looking stock down to the hubcaps and enjoy.

but considering how clean it is, it would be a crime to cut up such a clean car. Just buy it and restore it to original condition.

My bad if it was a Repost. I posted the spoon integra in another thread a long time ago (after the japan tsunami). Carry on.

It's all good, we all do reposts at times. 👍

I'm guessing a small block V8 would be cheap to get and maintain, however not sure if my friend could really work with it. He mainly works with the "food blenders." Oldest car I know that he's worked on is a Datsun 240Z. I wish I could restore it to original condition, but being a rare car. I'm pretty sure parts aren't going to be that cheap... :ouch: I don't have much money, but I plan on doing something with this car. I do also think it'd be great to restore this car to original condition... :indiff:

I don't think a Nissan motor in a Toyota is bad, but keep in mind an SR20 is an Inline 4 and the 1J is an Inline 6.

True, it's just that my friend has a better connection with Nissan parts sellers and could get me a better deal on the SR20. Does feel like the 1J would be more fitting.

how about yanking a toyota v8 from a tundra/sequoia or lexus gs? The

If you haven't read the ad, it has no engine. :P Transmission's status is unknown, other than being a 3-speed automatic. The seller has the inline-6 from a Celica-Supra but I asked for that to not be included in the sale and price. What it needs is an engine basically, probably a transmission, and I'm sure plenty of other mechanical things are gone due to it's time in the barn. I feel like it's a bit much to ask to try and get it to original condition...

Oh crap. That's a big problem. Er, well, I'd research a bit and try to get an equivalent engine to the one that was there in the first place, or maybe try out a clean engien swap to whatever you want, just dont cut the car up so, if someday you find the necessary parts to return it back to original condition, you can do it without trouble.

Or you can drop in a V8. I'd go for that considering it doesn't have an engine any more. Then again, I'd drop a V8 in anything and call it a day. Some people despise V8s.

Probably could save up for an original engine I'm guessing? I wouldn't mind putting a V8 in the Crown, despite what people may think of it. 3-Speed auto will definitely have to go though if I do such a thing.

Edit: My friend also brought up an AE86 Trueno hatch that he found on a forum he owns that was for sale for $1,500 with no engine, but everything else has been worked on.

1UZFE v8, but a 4AGE would be a cool swap as well and belongs in the 86 if you get that instead.

I'd get the crown. Way cooler street cruiser than the overplayed 86, which is a cool car too, but the Crown would attract a lot more attention.

i agree, plus it has mystery factor to the normal person.

That is what I was thinking. The 86 is a bit..."common" and the Crown is more special. That's what I look for in cars. I just thought I'd bring it up in case that would look like a better choice.

Here's the plan for getting the Crown. Hopefully calling up the owner/seller by tomorrow morning/noon before work and negotiating a price. If he's not available I have Thursday and Friday before work as well. Once a price is worked out, on Saturday I'll go to my friend's place where he and a friend of his will take...his friend's 240SX up to the town (about a 45 minute drive and $20 in gas I'll have to pay my friend's...friend). Take a look at the vehicle for ourselves even if we get sent pictures and are told it's rust-free or something. If it's good, we'll drive back to the bank and I'll get myself the money, then rent a trailer, hook it up to my friend's 4Runner, drive back up north. Purchase, put on trailer, and bring it on down to my friend's workshop. If the frame, rocker panels, and wheel wells are horribly rusted out. Then it's a no go... And I'll cry... :(
