Ace Combat 05: Info & Pics!

damn, it looks like the huge amount of time they've had to make this game has paid off.

is there going to be an airforce delta strike sequel?

I've never been into those types of games, just didn't think much could be done due to graphical boundaries that could limit game variety. But as the graphics are off the hook now the developers can go in any direction, toaly varying missions and game outcomes.

I'll refuse to do that mission unless its an escort mission.

It's been a while since I've posted here. I only return to say: Oh. My. God. Watching GT4 and Ace 05 footage are two revelations in one night. Bless you, Namco.

2004:
  • Gran Turismo 4
  • Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Ah what a beautiful year!:) Except for the fact the games come out during school.:grumpy:

Don't forget about:
  • Metal Gear Solid 3
  • Killzone
  • Silent Hill 4
That's right, all for PS2.

Hey,that's the Arkbird.I don't know what it's purpose is but it sure as hell looks cool and it's big.I belive that the Arkbird has some connection with the Mass Driver, wich is used to lauch the Arkbird into orbit. However that is not confirmed.

Here a few more screenshots of it:

Notice how small the fighters are compared to The Arkbird. That thing must be some sort of carrier or maybe some sort of weapon.

OK, I found some info on it on Japanese website. It was translated, obviously.

" Arc bird (Arkbird) " With, it is the atmospheric movement spacecraft of o shear federal possession. ' SDI which policy is done (Strategic Defense Initiative) plan is designated as the parent in eighties, but after the cold war concluding, it converts to the portion of international space exploration project of o shear ユークトバニア both country. It was built jointly. After commission there are no times when it gets off on the ground and the circumference have done on the track, the replenishment of the goods and the staff it does the single stage shuttle (SSTO) of making use. Therefore it is divided to the satellite to strictness, but it falls to endoatmospheric and modifies the orbital plane largely in order to make "atmospheric utilization tracked conversion" possible, there is no former space sphere platform, it guarantees degree of freedom it is high.

Maybe? maybe not....
Although, would be great as a bonus plane, couple of Maverick missiles, Pheonixs' and maybe a paveway thrown in, could be killer.
 I think you just got your wish!

SSTO stands for Single Stage To Orbit. Basically, it's a spacecraft that can take off, go into space, and land by itself. It wouldn't use stages like normal rockets or the Space Shuttle. The closest thing that NASA got to a SSTO was the X-33. NASA ran into some problems and "scaredy cat" culture, the X-33 was canceled. I bet NASA wished it hadn't cancel it now, since the Space Shuttle is grounded until 2005.

The game demo is here!

I just got my issue of OPM magazine and it has the Ace Combat 5 demo. This version is HARD! The last title was way too easy in comparison. You now have a couple pilots that you need to watch over along with your regular actions. It pays off though, so it's not just another escort mission. In fact, I never saw them get hurt while I played the game.

The extra pilots pay off because of what they can do for you, provided you know what you're doing. They can cover you, to make sure you don't get shot down, which can be helpful. They can attack front, which is very helpful when the mission first starts since the enemy is still directly in front of you at the start of each mission (I only played one mission). They can dispurse and attack any target. You can choose it they use their specialty weapon, or their regular missile and gun attack. But, if you call the wrong set of orders at the wrong time, you can pretty much kiss your ass good-bye. This game is impossible without them. You can select the jet they are going to use before each mission which is very useful. You need to use different jets, and not all the same one, or you're going to have trouble.

The control of the planes is different too. It's a lot less easier to dodge missiles. Before, if you heard a missile warning, you could fly for a brief second still, and shoot at whomever you were targeting. Not anymore. The planes move less like an arcade game, and more like the real thing. It was very frustrating at first, but you'll get use to it after playing for a while.

The Yellows are gone, and have been replaced what appears to be the Yukes. They fly just as well as the Yellows, but perhaps even better. They can fly very well with the F14s, which is a plane you can choose to use in the demo. But, the jet handles like a freight train, so it's best to use the F18.

The game looks beautiful, but you hardly notice it. You're way the hell to busy doing your mission to notice, but it does look better. The bullets now fly past over your head when someone is shooting at you from the rear. It looks awesome. Missile trails look better, and actually move like real missiles this time, instead of that perfect "computer generated" straight trail as before. The radar system is new, and I don't like it. It's more touch sensative and I hate it. When heavy into battle, you often don't push the button with the required easy touch that is needed. The radar shows the targets, Yukes and fighters pretty much as the same as before. To big change.

Well, that's about all I think of at the moment, because I want to get back playing it. If you have any particular question, feel free to ask them here. If you have or are getting the demo, let me know if you need help, because I know exactly what to use and do, and when and how to use it for an easy victory. But, don't think that I can't be shot down because of my experience. As I said before, this is a lot harder game, that requires you be on the ball at all times, or it's good-bye to you.

I didn't know you could control your teammates in this one, that sounds like it's going to be interesting. But since they made the game harder (which they needed to do anyways), is it too much to have to watch out for yourself and worry about giving orders to the other guys?

Looking forward to playing it myself.

👍 oh my god, that looks really impressive. i didn't get a flight-action-game since 10 years, but i think this game will be mine.

ps: boah, wow, huh, yeah, what, damn :dopey:

Heh, I still have the original PS1 ace combat. This one is just stunning. Might pick this up, if I have enough money from GT4, GTA SA, MGS3 and a network adapter.:)👍

And what's really cool this time is how you can look at your plane from all angles while it's in you hanger. You can even zoom in and zoom out. Awesome 👍 !

You could do that in Ace Combat 4 too.
