Is there a tutorial around here anywhere on how to do a real transparency? I've got elements 4.0, so I've got the tools, but I need to know how.

Here's something for you to play with:



I think I want it all transparent. It's B&W. How would you go about that? Just replace the white with GTP color? But what about the grays? Would it change all the shades to the corresponding GTP shade?

Basically I'm after the black. I want the black with the shadows fading into the GTP color. You know what I mean. It'll be cool, hopefully.

Save it as a GIF file. Then open up you editing tool. Then delete the bits you dont want. But im not really sure of what you mean..

It dosent really look right. Yet. I dont think you should use the magic wand. Is there a way to lower the opacity to half and save it like that?

There we go, DD. Now all the white is gone and the background color is GTP. That's what I was aiming for. So how do you change the background color to include the shades that are gray?

Had a bit of trouble with that too.
My solution is this one: (ps)
Make a new layer with the color you want and use it as the background.
Then set the blending of the image layer to multiply.
Now merge the visible layers and alter the lighting/contrast to make the black black again, and not dark gray.

This isn't the perfect solution, but it does the trick.

Sorry DD, but it looks like it's in a pink box and not transparent.

The car looks pink to me too.

Strange, it doesn't look pinkish on either of my 2 screens.
Your try looks like the original color, but darker (and also no disrespect from my side)

It would be a different story if we were all using the same monitors/screens.
i.e. I'm using a Sony 19" HD LCD.

Different set-ups, different perception.

It was supposed to be F1 cars.

And quality went down the toilet after others started making those...
