Perhaps it has something to do with the delay? These copies could have been produced mid-October before the game got pushed back for unknown reasons. Sony may have discarded them and now they're being sold. I just don't see why the damage system would be toned down so severely.
The running costs of a situation like that would be very high (imagine a full batch of discs being thrown to the garbage) and I find it hard to believe that a company with Sony's experience would make such a mistake. It can happen though, but highly unlikely in my opinion. Besides, what would be the reason to do that first batch of discs with a toned down damage if by the time we had already seen better examples of damage in demos?
I agree with you. I can't see how they can tone everything down for final build, my first theory was its a beta test copy. Lets hope it's all a big suprise.
Could be. Who knows? Maybe even Tekken doesn't know it and think he as a full legit copy of the game (and, once again, he MIGHT have!).
I, personally, do not judge or blame tekken! I am grateful for his videos!
All our thoughts are speculations, all I can say to tekken:
"No offense, man! But people are suspicious nowadays!"
I don't think anyone's blaming Tekken

. So I don't know where did you came up with that conclusion. If anything, we must thanks Tekken for the videos, he's done more in the last few days than PD/Sony regarding unveiling things from the game have done in the last 2 years.
But that something is strange comparing Tekken's footage and what we known since the demos, and I bet that even Tekken would agree on this. The reason why, PD only knows why...
We'd better get our hopes up!
(Or not.)
Wishful thinking is a dangerous thing. I find it hard to believe that there is more than it would seem there is.
I agree there's a chance that there could be surprises hidden that will require some kind of "activation", but this "early build" (so they take 5.5years to put all that there, and then 2 weeks to add a load more?) stuff, "viral marketing by SONY" is too far-fetched.
I agree with you. Call me a pessismist but I don't think there'll be any major surprises left. That turning out to be truth however, does raise the question: WHY? (Differences between Demos and Final Build)
Someone said earlier that perhaps damage integration is progressive, being more intense as further you go down the game. It is possible but I don't see the reasoning behind it considering it is the "Real Driving Simulator". Damage is there, its both valid and decisive for either a FIAT 500F or a SuperGT Nissan GT-R...
you guys are all hillarious with your conspiracies.... hahaha it's amazing what emotions we go through whilst waiting for this game....
Maybe when we find that one true disc version of GT5 (the holy grail) we will also find documents telling us who really killed JFK??? oh and the remains of the aliens in area 51...
I would be sufficiently happy enough if after the game is in my hands I can answer the questions that are being raised here. Why the "apparently" tuning down of some features - specifically damage. What ever happen to the Siena track (wasn't only the flags an issue?)?
No conspiracy theories here in my opinion. Just logical questions from what we know. I give however that the answer to all could be as simple as "because that's all that you get".
There's plenty of track variety, to the extent that GT5 has more tracks than any other console racing game with the exception of GT4. If that's not enough for you, then i'm not sure how you can be happy with any racing game on a console outside of GT4. As far as the crowds and ambiance goes on the Ring, that's only for the 24h Ring, and he clearly wasn't on that.
I was refering to unique tracks. And from my perspective, isn't the fact that "it has more tracks than any other racing games" that would make it brilliant or outstanding track list. From that perspective, it would suffice you that the track list was 1 more that the second console game. I might be wrong but I think otherwise. Specially considering that tracks (important, specially due to the series that are "officialy" represented in the game - WRC, SuperGT, Nascar) are missing from GT4 (why?! I'd like to know).
We are talking about GT series here. Not a small-budgeted obscure racing game. But for a comparison purpose, Supercar Challenge (that was one small budgeted game) had 11 unique tracks, being only one a fantasy one (Riviera). That as much as real life circuit featured in GT5. This is disappointing to me. It's not for you - good thing!
