Knew it was one or the other. That reminds me, has a McLaren F1 GTR ever flipped like the CLK-GTR and 911 GT1 have? :sly:

I'll be doing that in GT5 tomorrow.
Will post pics. XD

Uh oh....off topic :scared:

I'm interested to know those lap times to see where the F1 @ 600hp/970kg will end up...

I'll take the Panoz or 'Vette, just kind of a bummer that my favorite car is sort of an oddball and is either too fast or too slow :(

The CLK-LM? It's not an oddball or too fast (just needs to be restricted down) just not an easy case to deal with.

I've just been thinking, if it goes LMP/GT1/GT2 and I run unclassified I'll no doubt end up running roughly with the GT1 cars....F1 Stealth in GT1 maybe?....

Even if I limit power insanely?!

From what I've been told power limiting destroys the torque curve of your car so that the power band is in the early part of the gear and drops insanely from there. You can see this in the graph in the tuning screen.

Better to have a car naturally tuned closer to the regs, as far as people have told me.

It really just turns your car into an electric one in the sense that the torque rises to a point and then is just flat at it's maximum across the rev range (same for HP).

OK guys, here's the scoop.
What I plan on doing is releasing the OP sometime within the next two to three weeks.
I plan on actually starting the season the week we set the clocks back.
Fridays up until then will be optional preseason races, running only ONE class at a time so we can adjust the specs for each car as necessary.
I still need to gage how much I can commit to this with school taking up so much of my time.
Expect my activity to fall a bit in the next two weeks.
No more staying up until 2 AM on GTPlanet. :grumpy:

Just don't sleep....:dopey:

I'm interested in preseason races but how would I compete? I'd have to have a race all by myself...lol

You can spec a McLaren F1 GTR so it's even with the LMPs and another spec so it's even with the GT1s (if we go that route) and a McLaren F1 with GT(2).

I've been thinking maybe going with the Stealth and run with the GT1's but I'll stick with last seasons car stripped down and powered up and just see where I end up (no doubt around the pace of the GT1's again).

Any idea of tracks? Maybe go to ones we haven't yet and ditch some of the others like Laguna and Nurb GP/F? (been there both seasons along with 5000000000 preseason races there :dopey:)

We'll be racing mostly on Nurb GP/F for the preseason. Maybe, just MAYBE we'll do a GP/D race or two. :P
But I think that I'm going to replace the regular season Nurb GP race with Fuji.

Fuji would be sweet, maybe replace Cote d'Azur with a different street course like R246 too maybe?

I'd like to see something like:

Monza
Laguna
Fuji F
Nurb 24Hr
Daytona
La Sarthe 2005
Tokyo R246
Suzuka
Nurb GP/F
La Sarthe 2009

It's been done about 4 times already though (GTPFIA and this series) and I'm kinda over racing there. We just need to freshen it up a bit and change some tracks though sadly it's hard to when the track list for real world tracks is so short...(GIVE US SPA AND BATHURST ALREADY!)

Spa would be awesome.
How about SSR7? :P
That's actually a fairly nice schedule.
We could do Monaco AND another street course if everyone else is up for that.
Sorry, Monaco is one of my favorites. :dopey:

Replace Nurb GP/F with a SSR track would be a neat idea actually and you could just call it the Baltimore night race :P

BTW, if we do get GT1 what's the likely spec?

Seems the poll has swung in favour of GT and GTC :dopey:

If you do go with GTC and use Rufs you can either use the:

RGT - 387 HP - 1330 kg
or
CTR2 - 535 HP - 1380 kg

The RGT would be the better choice as the CTR2 has AWD and more power...they both weigh more than the S3 GT2 spec cars will at minimum so they'll definitely be slower.

Watching Baltimore on ESPN3 on replay. I really think it would be cool for us to lean towards the ALMS growing reliance on road courses in its schedule. Of course Sarthe, Seca and the others that are staples of the series, however it would be nice to change it up some. SSR5 (full course), maybe tokyo, london or madrid or something. I wish we had US courses such as Seattle, but oh well what can you do.

Baltimore is beautiful, a few steps down from monaco...

SSR7 doesn't have any pit stops, and how about Daytona Speedway? :D And Gatrs, the Poll is showing LMP, GT, and GTC, and Sparty, that's just because your losing in the poll :P

I know SSR7 doesn't but I was talking about SSR5, the street course version rather than the highway drag race strip. Or does that not have a pits either? That would be silly of PD...

If we end up doing GT1/2 I will probably start up a RUF RGT GT Challenge league as a support series. So I'm okay either way, and seeing as I'm the one who upset the pole I leave it up to you people.

I remember gatrs talking about something like trying to be as close to the real ALMS as possible or something not too long ago....so wouldn't that mean LMP/GT/GTC?

"I'm going to try to create a smaller car list for the GT classes, so it will only be cars or similar cars that have competed and received championship points in the ALMS THIS YEAR."

From the creators mouth....
