I know, I know, no cars here. But these ones from this morning are very artistic and I think you guys will definitely like them. Opinions and feedback are more than welcomed!

You can't go wrong with a low-aperture 50mm. I've got a 1.4 myself and use it for all of my car photography.

Nice elbow on this guy...

No, jk... I think if the shots were even lower, they'd probably look better. The one I quoted is a bit under exposed, but it is a bit difficult to see it on the screens, especially trying to make black shine on black.

I like cars, but don't really care for full size car shots, or partial shots. Interesting features on cars like the wheels, mirrors, brake lights, emblems, or body curvature is what interests me...

Realised I hadn't had the 70-200 on the camera for a while so popped it on and took a walk down to the park with the kids today.

Nice and sharp - but if you're up for some feedback, crop it bit of the dead space on the left but keep the negative space on the right. (Im assuming you know about pos/neg/dead space)

To really make it pop lie flat on your stomach next time to really make the bird "bigger". Get down to their level is what I'm saying. :)

So the YouTuber ThatDudeInBlue had a car meet yesterday and I took some photos that are artistic. The day before, I was looking through Speedhunters, StanceNation, and StanceWorks articles for inspiration. I've really been thinking about having photography becoming more than just a hobby.

I tried getting the M4 and M5 logos in focus together so I used a f/22 aperture.

Not to be a jerk, but the semi-generic car-meet pics are getting a bit tired in this thread.

@ProjectWHaT - Whats up with your white balance and exposure? I know full what the EOS M can put out and these are processed in a way that just feels cold and almost accidental. And your shots of people are all under exposed, and most seem to be shot wide-open for no apparent reason. For the M4/M5 shot, I'd have switched to your kit lens (do you have the 22mm or 18-55mm?) and gone to F/11 max because of diffraction.

I did not fiddle with the white balance or exposure that much this time, because I always feel like I make it worse. I'll do some more reading on it. If by wide-open, you mean the aperture, I did it like that, because i wanted to focus on David and have everyone one else out of focus. I didn't bring my other lens sadly.

Is there a thread already for artistic car photography? If not I think @ProjectWHaT should make one. There's enough content posted in here to sustain it.
I'll gladly open a car photography thread if its that much of an eye sore.

The wide open bit is more than just the people shots, where restricting depth of field makes sense. What is your other lens, and have you considered the 22mm F/2 STM pancake for the EOS M?

White balance on Auto with the EOS M tends to be pretty solid. Are you shooting raw or jpeg and what is your work flow?

It isn't so much of an eye sore as just repetitive and boring. Like your photostream on flickr is almost indistinguishable from someone else posting tons of photos from car meets. If you want to get more serious about photography, I strongly suggest you try your hand at something outside of automotive/snapshots.

My first attempt at waterfalls. Looking back if giving more time I would have combined 2 shots the long exposure with a fast normal shot. To keep the smooth water effect minus some of the plant blurring.

Sample shot in the garden of where we stayed on our trip.

Not long exposures but I was impressed by the Leica D-Lux 6 point and shoot that my grandpa let me borrow which is what I took these with.

I received my first DSLR this past christmas, buuuuut...

I'm having issues uploading files, I'm either getting an error message or the image would finish uploading but lock at 100% and nothing happens.

I dunno if it's cuz the file breaches some kind of size limit or if it's just my computer, or some other issue...

I saw this waterfall sometime this week on TV... can't remember where but I said "Man I want to go there and shoot it!"

Something from the news I think... I dunno

If you look several (and i mean several) pages back, you should see my post about the same issue.

Here is what I recommend: Create a Flickr account. Unfortunately that means you'll have to make a yahoo account too if you don't already have one, but it takes a total of five minutes. And the amount of stuff you can put on Flickr for free is amazing. I think if I took a RAW photo everyday for the rest of my life I wouldn't even fill up half of the storage.

Other option: Download paint.net, (assuming you don't have lightroom or some other pp program). When you open your image, hit Image, then Re-size. GTP I think allows only files up to 5mb to be posted. But, if your picture is quite large, (as in 30+ mb), you will lose a lot of quality. That's why I recommend Flickr.

Thanks, I'll definitely look into it - but I really do worry about storage. I'm pretty certain I'm approaching 100GB already (if not more) only after ~5 months of having it, and my average file size is usually around 15MB... Though, I'm definitely not gonna be posting every single one of the shots I saved.

I'll just see for myself when I get the time to set it up, thanks again 👍

I average around 80GB a month, with 25mb average file sizes. Space is pretty cheap and you can toss out images that are blurry and what not as you go. I kind of recommend that or else you end up with a huge back log of photos you may never, ever do anything with.

+1

I generally do this after I moved all the pictures into the corresponding files... If I have seventeen shots of the same thing, I'll flip between the first and second, delete the worst, and then compare to the third... etc..

But yeah, most of mine are between 25-35mb each, and the panoramas are only going to be averaging 100...

Anyways, I'll be going on vacation soon, so expect sometime in the next week or so for me to be uploading some shots in Cozumel... not sure exactly what to shoot other than a beach, and maybe some lizards. It's a shame really because I wont have that rokinon lens to take with me yet.
