He's crazy and a murderer. It's clear that he should not have had a gun... at all... not just in public. The implication of what you're arguing is that there is no way to keep guns out of the hands of someone like him without preventing people from carrying in public... or something similar. I don't know him well enough to comment on that.

Keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous people is very difficult. But it does appear to be a problem that we're faced with.

To adopt a child, we had to invite (and pay for) a social worker to evaluate myself and my wife (and to a lesser extent our kids), repeatedly, and intensely, from a psychological perspective. We were scrutinized both together and individually on every aspect of our lives, including sex life, pornography consumption, firearms, and the strength of our relationship with each other. This was done over the course of years. The social worker got to know us, and we got to know her. This was done because of the great responsibility we were undertaking by adopting a child into our family. But it is no less responsibility to raise a biological child. And it is no less responsibility to carry a gun in public. It is no less responsibility to be a member of the police force.
He might not be crazy, or at least not clinically so. I think that's the more alarming prospect. The situation is definitely, clinically, crazy though.

I have trouble seeing how someone can commit a murder, especially in this kind of fashion, and not be crazy clinically. I mean I do believe it's possible, but I'd fault the clinical definition then.

If you pull out a gun at the first moment of stress, that is a poor use of a firearm because it is likely to escalate from there, particularly if the other person is also constitutionally carrying.

So how many people are out there in states like Texas carrying handguns because it's cool or because it gives them a confidence boost? Its now easier than ever, so I'm guessing not zero.
Agree.
Edit: I'm gonna try to make a point here. We need smarter gun regulation in this country but unfortunately we seem to be trending towards dumber and more reckless gun policy. And the reasons are also stupid, it's all identify politics and grandstanding defiance of "the left". Constitutional carry is not some kind of high minded intellectual framing of the 2A, it's attention seeking top to bottom, from the people out there utilizing the policy on the street, to the bureaucrats scoring political points in the state capitals. It's dumb and purposeless policy otherwise.
There is a lot that we can and should do, but you're right in that the debate is pointlessly twisted by people who aren't so much interested in the actual subject, but rather in "winning". It's not helpful for anyone, they're just increasing the likelihood that people get upset from inaction and go for drastic measures when it comes to controlling guns. They're sabotaging good gun owners and themselves in the long wrong and either can't see it or don't care. Unfortunately this isn't limited to the gun debate either, it's a real problem in US politics right now across the board.

Word on the street is that Tucker Carlson has been shown the door at Fox "News"...
That was made official in a press release a little while ago. I guess if you cost your company around $800 million, they aren't very happy with you being employed at said company.

TB
Neither of them are capable of talking in anything short of Grandpa Simpson yelling at clouds level.
Their podcast will be cloud hosted so they can yell at other clouds from their cloud.

I would love to think he'll just kind of disappear like Bill O'Rielly did, but I suspect he is too young and too popular for that to happen. Somebody is going to pay a lot of money to get him in front of their cameras, but without the quasi-legitimacy of a network like Fox, I'm not sure how good of an investment that would be. OAN is a kook network for kooks, and I think Tucker knows that and his messaging would be limited there - the Mike Lindell effect. Whatever happens with Tucker, Fox News will absolutely get torched for this from their viewers, so much so that I'm not sure how viable they are going forward in their current incarnation.

edit: Oh god, he's going to be Trump's running mate.

I don't think so. At least based on what he said about Trump. Also he's too much of a figure to be Trump's running mate, threatens the ego.
Ya I think Trump has maybe said he's picking a woman to be his running mate? I've seen MTG and Kari Lake's names thrown around.

Not as bad as Tucker, but still pretty bad. To be honest, I despise anyone with the personality required to want to be a cable news presenter.

In my opinion, it's likely that anybody who wants any position where they are seen by huge audiences, where they know their words will be believed, or where they're in charge of rules or people in a visible way, those people tend to be a bit off-kilter if not completely insufferable.

Don Lemon has always been one of the most extreme and sensationalist people at CNN, it's probably a good move to get rid of him.

But... why?

Is Biden, a right-of-centre-right lich, the best the Democrats can do for a Presidential candidate? Still?

It's like they're the US equivalent of the Labour party or something. Open goal, but no one who can put it in the back of the net.
