Is it too cynical and cliche of me to immediately link a mooted US invasion of Venezuela to oil?

Probably not, because that was my first thought as well. Would the US really care if Venezuela was oil-poor? I mean there are several governments all over the world that treat their people terrible, it seems that the US only cares when the country has oil or a grudge against Israel.

I didn't threaten to fight him. I said I bet wouldn't say that to my face.
You attempted to use your physicality to shut down a conversation, its a threat and an intimidation. You can try and split hairs over it as much as you like, but you know full well what you did and why you did it. Which is exactly why.......

You know what. Screw this site. I get trolled and I'm having to defend myself. Screw y'all. Wasting my time anyways. I'm on good pace to be done at 1. 20 stops to go!
....unable to convince even yourself you run away.

What was that I said about bullies and being challenged.

Nope. It's an issue for both parties and I don't believe the Republicans have swapped ideologies with the Southern Democrats. You can establish that case if you like.
Plenty of others have already provided that in detail, but feel free to ignore the history. I mean which party is it that has stood by the Confederate statues and which would have had they been in question in the '50s?

An example is an example, I'm not under any obligation to provide you with more examples to establish your case for you. I said it's a problem on both sides of the aisle and it is. If you want to investigate to prove that your side is completely innocent feel free to do so and prove me wrong.
It was the example you used and as such the only one from you I had to comment on, now if you don't like the reply then please feel free to provide more, but don't complain that I used it.

An explanation was sent to me by a kind fellow member. Did Famine also accuse me of whiteknighting while continuously engaging in it himself?
So I do have a fan, excellent I shall have to think of a nick-name.

Nice dp by the way.
Opps - too slow, I've edited it already, you missed that bit.

Show me where I called her a little girl.
Show me where I said you did.

You repeatedly referred to a 28-year old woman as a "girl". You then got angry at being called out on it and called a boy. If you don't like being treated how you treat others, don't treat them that way.

No. You don't get to present my words as if I said something else. Nor anyone else's.

Yes, perhaps it is time for you to move on. If you can't comprehend that being abusive, insulting and patronising towards other people is not the way conduct civil conversations, this isn't the site for you.

Have to agree. I know lots of grown adults, women especially, that refer to women by various terms that includes "girl" or "girls" with no insult intended, by I don't know of anyone that calls a grown adult a "little boy" or "little girl" without insult intended. Of course this dilemma only happens on the internet:lol:

I didn't call her a little girl. He or whatever called me a little boy. You are changing his words...

Only because I’d be too scared to say it IRL...

Edit: I didn’t think I’d need to clarify this, but that, was a joke (I’m making this edit as we really don’t need more posts on this)

@ryzno

I'd use this as an opportunity for reflection. You were presented with a rebuttal to your remarks in a way that was somewhat inflammatory (intentionally so). You response was not to respond intellectually, re-evaluate your position, or deflate the situation. Instead you escalated it by immediately trying to use intimidation. It's somewhat ironic because an internet forum is pretty much the last place that physical intimidation would work. "I bet you wouldn't say that to my face" is insinuating nothing about the legitimacy of that person's perspective or argument, and instead suggests that they should be afraid to call you out on your comment. The fact that you would jump to that on an internet forum suggests to me that this isn't your first rodeo, this is a tried and true mechanism for you for shutting down arguments. It probably works better in person.

My suggestion to you is that you reconsider whether this ever makes sense as a response (in person or on the internet). Either they have a point, in which case you should not try to silence them, or they do not, in which case you should be able to respond - even if that response takes some careful thought and time. Regardless, it is more effective to change hearts and minds with thoughts than with fear tactics.

Still going, still wasting his time...
I didn't call her a little girl.
No, you called a 28-year old woman "some girl", and were called out on it.
He or whatever called me a little boy.
Yep. Guess you didn't spot the fact the hypocrisy of you calling a 28-year old woman "some girl" was being highlighted.
You are changing his words...
Nope.
Then why say it on the internet. You fling insults then start ignoring posts. Troll...
Aaaand now you're directly insulting members....
She's not a member here

Fun fact: I'd have been sacked in real life if I referred to any female aged 18 or over as a girl in my copy. Or any male aged over 18 as a boy. And in fact the line for 15-18 is a bit fuzzy too.

Edit: Hmm. Phrasing...

Must be a Southern thing... And I posted that at 10 last night. I'm sure you know I was lit. Oh and I'll be the first to actually post her name...
Everyone wants to defend her and can't even be bothered to post her name...

What using "some girl" as a pejorative because you don't agree with them politically.

Odd I've got family in Mobile, and I've never heard them do it (but they might be a bit to progressive for you).
Dude get over it. Some girl isn't offensive! Like me saying I saw some dude or some boy. I was drunk it was the 4th. She's some girl on the other side of the freaking country who I've never met. So some girl applies well...

Taken in context of the rest of the post in question I flat out don't believe you.

So, no I'm not going to get over it.

You made the comments, you don't get to dismiss them with "get over it".

As has been said, consider your post, and your replies, understand why people have reacted the way they have.

No I've said this before. Y'all read WAY to much into nothing. I'm done with this stupid argument I got a stupid infraction after being the one who was insulted. Y'all are selectively quoting users to say I'm the one one throwing insults. I'm done. Ill post some links on why socialism failsafter I go to Smyrna to unload and back to Lawrenceville to my new home. No more east Atlanta slums!

You wanted to fight someone (over the internet) rather than refute the points they made about a pejorative laden post you made, that doesn't make for a great victim card.

Oh and make sure its the right socialism, after all the inability to recognise that its not a single thing was part of what set you off last time, please don;t repeat the same thing.

I did not! I called him out for saying something he wouldn't say if he was in mine or anyone else face. I would be in this same stupid situation if I called him a little boy. Yet y'all are defending him and punishing me. It's hypocritical.
And I will get it right...

Yeeeaaahhh, Ryzno, go call your grandma or your mom "some girl" to their face. I'll put money on them not taking it as nicely as you seem to think they should. No one is buying the crap your trying to shovel here. I thought you were leaving the site anyway. Sure seem pretty hard up for some internet attention here.

Is it fair that white or Asian or Muslim or any other group of students should have a lessor chance at an available slot at their university of choice so we can make room for someone whose marks aren't quite up to scratch? Shouldn't we evaluate everyone by the same criteria? Should middle class AA's benefit from AA? Is there no alternative for AA students that doesn't involve taking positions away from more qualified applicants?

Blame the people who started giving participation trophies

I didn't punish anyone?

Both grandmas are dead and I don't know my mom. I'd punch her in the face if I ever met her. That said I said under 30. I've called my girl, girl before...
Socialism will destroy this country. Which was my point as usual y'all find one word to nit pick over.

Your still missing the point about it's place in the context of your entire post.

Socialism will destroy this country. Which was my freaking point as usual y'all find one fricking word to nit pick over.
As I've already addressed that, and pointed out your using the wrong firm of socialism, I'm quite clearly not not picking over one word at all.

It's a funny thing, after the fall of Communism, everybody in the world agreed that socialism was a failure. Everybody in the world agreed (more or less) that capitalism was a success. And every capitalist country in the west deduced from that, that what the west needed was more socialism.

Lol.

BTW, you're welcome for your socialism Europe.
-The American taxpayer.

And y'all know I post weird. I don't know why we have to go through this every time I post something. Oh wait. Last time I posted something useful without my opinion from CNN it was ignored. I'm glad y'all we're so concerned about the shooting last week.

I do lots of things in my personal life that I would never do at work. The standards are a little bit different.

When it comes to "socialism" it's a lot like the story of Goldilocks & the Three Bears. Rigid communism has proved to be a failure. But rigid capitalism hasn't had too great a record either. Democratic socialism - which all the western countries, including the US, have adopted to one degree or another - has been spectacularly successful, resulting in unprecedented general prosperity & (relative) international peace. The various western countries have made continual adjustments over the decades to the balance between socialism & unfettered capitalism - all is not perfect, but it's a system that clearly works better than the alternatives.

@ ryzno - your perspective remains worthwhile to this forum, but I would ask you: have you ever been outside the US? Have you traveled in Europe - in the UK, Germany, France or Sweden? If not, I would suggest your insight is limited by your lack of experience.

Can't believe he's still going on this and defending his patronising language after this:
You know what. Screw this site. I get trolled and I'm having to defend myself. Screw y'all. Wasting my time anyways
I've been out and painted the fence (5'10, 210lb, outdoor worker in UK heat, FITE ME 1V1 BRO) and it's still going.

You're not even right there either...
Did you spot the part where the member you're currently puffing your chest up said "but little boy, isn't she a woman" in response to an apparently 32-year old man repeatedly referring to a 28-year old woman, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, as a girl?
And you quoted that post!
