Atlantic: Trump Says War Dead Are "Losers" & "Suckers"

I would love to know who the super close sources are.

It's a quadruple edged sword; not only is it impossible to satirise Trump, and with anonymous sources you do have to take this with a fractional grain of salt, but this article is entirely believable given his horrendous comments about John McCain.

What a sterling Commander-in-Chief. This is 1D chess.

I'm very tired of it. Looking forward to the day when we can put this all behind us.

Why the heck would anyone ever go out of their way to help anyone else? Those military POW failures who were captured and tortured to death were just virtue signalling, weren't they?

White House response: "Meh, fake news" *examines fingernails*.

Fox apparently disputed this until one of their own correspondents backed it up. Trump responded by saying Fox should fire her. And then a Fox anchor backed her up.
Fox News spent a chunk of its Friday coverage dismissing a report in The Atlantic saying President Donald Trump belittled fallen military members by calling them "suckers" and "losers."

Then Jennifer Griffin, a national security correspondent for the network, said in a lengthy Twitter thread that former Trump administration officials confirmed the president's remarks to her.
"All refuted by many witnesses," Trump tweeted with a link to a Breitbart News story. "Jennifer Griffin should be fired for this kind of reporting. Never even called us for comment. @FoxNews is gone!"
Fox News chief political anchor Bret Baier also described Griffin as "a great reporter and a total class act."

You can't make this stuff up.

Calling for Fox to fire her would have raised first amendment eyebrows pretty hard back before Trump. He has eroded confidence and understanding in our rights so far that I feel like this part is just taken for granted at this point.

It is an impeachable offense in my opinion, for him to call to fire her like this. One of so many. It is a direct violation of his oath of office and the fundamental duties of the executive.

It's especially amusing that he's so adamant that he didn't say those things in 2018 and is calling for people to be fired over it and no one loves troops more than him and etc, since even ignoring the public fallout that happened over the White House flag soon after McCain died he said something very similar about John McCain on video when he was running the first time.

Before the rest of this post I should point out that the activities of Osama Bin Laden don't seem to reflect the behaviour of other family members, so I'm not making a terrorist connection to them or the following story.

Nonetheless the headline remains: Osama Bin Laden's niece endorses Trump 2020. Independent.

This includes the excellent "her branch of the family uses the spelling 'Ladin' instead of 'Laden', like what was used by her infamous uncle".

Hmmm... looks like her Trump Devotion Syndrome extends to being an active #Qanonista.

Remember when the right-wing bobble heads threw a huff about why the media wasn't covering Biden being endorsed by (former Trump supporter) white supremacist Richard Spencer? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Awfully quiet from these folks now that the niece of America's biggest terrorist is endorsing Trump.

Great news! Trump bans anti-American 'diversity training'. I wish Boris would have the balls to do this in the UK.

"All agencies are directed to begin to identify all contracts or other agency spending related to any training on 'critical race theory,' 'white privilege,' or any other training or propaganda effort that teaches or suggests either (1) that the United States is an inherently racist or evil country or (2) that any race or ethnicity is inherently racist or evil.."

Trump is trying to preserve American history. The 1619 project is marxist crap.

Go to the website, scroll through their silly interface and look at the excerpts of the esseys. It is not history and shouldn't be in the classroom.

This and getting rid of diveeeercity training in less than a week, Trump is on a roll!

He been on a roll since he snuck in office. Again, wonder if he'll say slavery never existed.

CNN
"Department of Education is looking at this. If so, they will not be funded!" he wrote on Twitter, citing a message from an unverified account saying it was being taught in schools there.
I love the way this whole thing relies on a network of anonymous informants like some kind of totalitarian state.

Why do you think it’s Marxism?
Because Trump is against it, silly. /s

Are you trying to infer 'Cultural Marxism' here, the utter fantasy of the far-right loon?

I have, many times before today. Please quote the extracts you disagree with a and provide us with some citations to illustrate its innacuracy.

He sure is getting that far-right base fired up again.

Exactly how much diversity training have you attended and exactly which part of it was incorrect and/or objectionable, and why?

Or is it simply the idea of being asked to consider the assumptions that are made about people because they may be different to us that offends?

You’re a real strong believer in free speech, right?

Yeah, it shows.

Hmmm, this sounds oddly familiar.

Now if I could just put my finger on the source...

I was thinking of the Gestapo in Nazi Germany myself but totalitarian states come in all flavours, left and right. The McCarthyite era in the United States made a few overtures in that direction in the days when it must've seemed like they were writing the book on "cancel culture".

Kyle seems to have no shortage of YouTube lawyers willing to step up and plead his case. I hope they're around to advise him when this goes to trial.
