The Republican party has an openly Nazi wing.

I'm not sure enough is being made of this. Mark Robinson is the current GOP candidate for governor in North Carolina, and he seems to be a nazi through and through, even calling himself one. I do understand that he's probably not going to win, but he is a sitting republican in office who has said that he's a nazi. He's just one politician, but we've seen a trend among the right wing toward aligning with nazi positions and rhetoric. The GOP having its first openly nazi candidate for major office seems like a bad landmark and a warning sign. I'm not convinced this will be the last one.

I'm not sure about openly. Robinson denies it to his base despite the overwhelming evidence against him. Hopefully enough people are aware of this to ensure he's toast at the next election.

Perhaps the media should emphasise the part in originating the baseless pet-eating rumours played by Blood Tribe and Drake "Nate Higgers" Berentz.

Ok, that's a fair comment. I am aware that Robinson denies it. Nobody believes him, including party leaders. The republican leadership has tried to walk a fine line by saying basically that it's up to the people of North Carolina. To me, that's openly acknowledging that if NC wants to elect a Nazi then the republicans are good with it. What prominent members of the party are not saying is that if the allegations are true, it's a deal breaker. The talking point is more like... we don't care whether it's true, it's up to the electorate.

To me, that's openly Nazi. But I guess it's a hair better than actually just stating "yes we know it's true and we're good with it". Only a hair though! So maybe I shouldn't say it's openly nazi, but it looks like at least nazi accepting.

Yeah but don't forget that any and all comparisons to 1930s Germany are overblown and preposterous...

Lindsey Graham: "Biden has screwed the world up every way you can"

He's doing a Mark Robinson and denying the event happened despite multiple witnesses. It's a shame the event doesn't seem to have been recorded. This'd be pretty bad optics for anyone who wasn't a MAGA Republican.

Errrr....
I fully believe that the Feds should hand over an incredible amount of territory to tribes and it should go so far as that any municipality inside the territory must change their rules to include natives on their city councils and all their police chiefs must be native etc etc. Like basically reparations in the form of local public power.

Errrr....
Not on this topic (we were discussing MTG), but we were just talking about this today: the Republicans seem to have spent the last 10+ years purposely purging intelligence from their candidate pool. Not sure if they are just trying to align with the voter base, or what?

I'm not advocating for it, but if you were a con-man, wouldn't you want to pre-screen your marks to determine whether they're good candidates to milk?

If I were a conspiracy theorist I would say that Republican leadership is pulling strings with the help of foreign agencies. One major aspect of intel clearances is judging how easily manipulated a person could be and obviously dumber means easier for the most part. These people must have clean records and have previous public service so they've got good precedent for a clearance, although they were never at a high enough level previously to be manipulated. Now that they've got higher achievements, they can be exposed to manipulation and the dumber the person the easier that is. So my conspiracy would be that somebody at the highest levels of the party and foreign governments is grooming the party by filling it full of innocent morons.

At least that's what I would do if I was the KGB.

I remember watching a demo in downtown Dayton when I was a kid and it was pretty incredible. Not nearly as spectacular as Vegas but the building was about the same size as one of those towers so still impressive.

Meanwhile the Mirage is suffering an even worse fate... it's being refurbished into a Hard Rock casino. I get that you just can't knock down one of the most iconic buildings in modern Vegas, but geez what a downgrade that is. :yuck:

My knowledge is out of date as I haven't been since 2012 (detoured from US66) but from memory there was already a Hard Rock casino back then at the northern end near the Convention Centre? Is that gone?

There was a Hard Rock Casino east of the Strip on Harmon but it's now Virgin Hotels.

My wife and I stayed at the Hard Rock and loved it. Rooms were larger than the ones on the Strip and were cheaper. We were in one of these corner rooms.

They should keep that gunman behind bars indefinitely so he doesn't try to kill anyone else. Anyone who does attempted murder like that should be locked up forever.
What attempted murder? As far as the news coverage goes, he was just driving around with some guns in his car. That's pretty legal in quite a lot of states - and in those with open carry laws, you can even just walk around with them.

In this case there appears to be some question about how legally owned his guns were, and he does appear to be a sovereign citizen nutjob (but pro-Trump), but I'm not seeing how you've got "try to kill" and "attempted murder" from this.

It comes across to me as a distraction story given the fallout there's been over folks getting stranded for hours at the rally with no way to get back to the car parks to get home. All the buses that bused them there before hand had either gone off duty or had been unable to be refueled to pick them all back up when it finished.

Redirected to this thread generally to not spoil two different threads.

I would like to add that this type of criticism isn't levied towards Netenyahu or Israel. How much money has Israel cost the United States over the last three-quarters of a century?
Because there's an axis of authoritarianism/"chaos" forming vs liberal democracies. If Trump wins, the US switches sides and that's never happened before so god knows where we end up.

They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.
The Michigan State Police were made aware of Radcliff’s behavior on Oct. 2, when they received information about Radcliff soliciting “child sexually abusive material from a minor.” Their investigation has identified multiple victims.

According to court documents obtained by MLive, a Michigan outlet, Radcliff has also been accused of creating child sexual abuse material with a prepubescent child. As reported by Law & Crime, Radcliff’s victims were between the ages of 13 and 15.
