It's also because Jimmy Carter is getting more attention than Donald is, which we know he cannot abide. My gut feeling is that all this sabre-rattling against Canada, Greenland & Panama is to distract from the gang of groypers that Musk will hire.
I'm sure Trump's eventual funeral will do massive numbers, the mostest viewers in history. Everyone will want to file past his casket. It's also because Jimmy Carter is getting more attention than Donald is, which we know he cannot abide.
Somebody put a Dymaxion map in front of this guy!
Yes..."file past."Everyone will want to file past his casket.
Jr. will actually be truthful for once when he claims more people wept tears for father's passing than any President before.I'm sure Trump's eventual funeral will do massive numbers, the mostest viewers in history. Everyone will want to file past his casket.
Just to make sure.

Jealous Trump Throws Own State Funeral To Upstage Carter’s
WASHINGTON—Peeking out of his coffin with one eye open, a jealous President-elect Donald Trump reportedly threw his own state funeral Thursday in an effort to upstage the late Jimmy Carter’s ceremony. “I’m way deader than he is,” mumbled Trump, who lay at the opposite end of the National...theonion.com

Of course he does. Everything's always against him when it's not bowing down to him.Criminal convicted of 34 felonies gets most lenient sentence possible, still attacks it as being unfair:
FTFY. Let's not act like just because Roberts and ACB have surprisingly ruled in our favor at times, that they will be poised to strike down some of the more insane things that the Trump admin is pushing for. After all, Roberts did have a pretty scathing and unhinged dissent to Obergefell v. Hodges, which, as given by Idaho's upcoming attempt to literally ban gay marriage once again, may not even last much longer.the supreme court still has 3 somewhat rational justices
That's why I qualified what I said - "the next 4 years will be likely bad for people who value liberty". We're at a pretty bleak point.FTFY. Listen, would you rather do your job & block Trump? Or would you rather have a motorhome, a yacht, or cash? How about all 3?That's why I qualified what I said - "the next 4 years will be likely bad for people who value liberty". We're at a pretty bleak point.
Where we're at: I think 5 justices would block Trump if he attempted to dissolve congress. The fact that I don't think we'd get 7, let alone 9 speaks volumes....but at least it's a majority.
Bud, Luigi really has his work cut out for him don't he?Listen, would you rather do your job & block Trump? Or would you rather have a motorhome, a yacht, or cash? How about all 3?
My biggest worry is that this time around, the institutional opposition to Trump will be much weaker compared to his first term. Some Democrats, like Fetterman, are signaling a willingness to be bipartisan. Which will only accelerate democratic backsliding.I think it's time for Europe and the other Western Democracies to step up and act cooperatively to counteract Trump. Appeasement was tried in the past to contain another nationalist fascist. It didn't work. If Trump's intimidation and aggression bears fruit, he will just continue with more of the same. Call his bluff on tariffs and trade. If he doubles down, so be it. The fall out & economic dislocation will be substantial, but it will affect the US as much as other countries.
I hate to be a doomer but I feel like Trump's probably got Canada cornered with his tariffs and policies. If we don't somehow play nice with him, he's going to destroy Canada's economy, because we're so vitally linked to theirs. It is imperative that no country outside of the US caves in to any of Trump's demands. If it is no longer feasible to sell stuff to the US we will just have to find other buyers, which shouldn't be an impossible task.
I didn't say it would be easy, just not impossible. Give it time, plenty of nations would likely rather trade with Canada than Donald Trump's USA.I hate to be a doomer but I feel like Trump's probably got Canada cornered with his tariffs and policies. There's a reason Alberta hasn't become this massive oil superpower like they always go on about wanting to be, it's because outside of trade with the US there isn't really much of a market for it. The EU is trying to cut down on fuel usage, Russia is never going to buy it even if we still traded with them, China isn't going to buy it because they buy from Russia... Nobody really wants Canadian oil, or our other resources, because they can get it elsewhere for much cheaper.
If US trade closes, we're kinda screwed. Even if we did find trade partners elsewhere, our ports are underdeveloped and so many pipelines and other infrastructure projects have been blocked over the years, the cost to transport the goods is way higher now than it could have been had they gone through.
Former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien in todays Globe and Mail : “We also have to understand that Mr. Trump isn’t just threatening us; he’s also targeting a growing list of other countries, as well as the European Union itself, and he is just getting started. Canada should quickly convene a meeting of the leaders of Denmark, Panama, Mexico, as well as with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, to formulate a plan for fighting back these threats.”I hate to be a doomer but I feel like Trump's probably got Canada cornered with his tariffs and policies.
