There's a lot of Nurburgring nuts on this forum.
So what better place to ask?
I've now started dedicating my time to getting Golds in the AMG Driving Academy events.
I only drive with ABS 1. I also use a Driving Force Pro.
I'm struggling with Beginner, Sector 4.
I've gotten Gold in Sector 1, 2, 3 and the whole lap.
Surprisingly, I got Gold in the whole lap one by 5 seconds, found it much easier than the sector ones, there's much more room for error.
Anyways, you need 2:30 to get Gold.
I can only get 2:30.446.
I've watched videos on Youtube etc.
Any help from the Experts?

Refine your lines, find an Entry, Apex and Exit line. Weaving around trying to find a line can cost you a few milliseconds.
Look at these:

(not the Nurb but what I'm talking about.

Think I set TCS at 4 or so...Sector 4 is the last part with the straight, right?Got a gold but I use DS3. Sorry I can't be of more help. You can't set skid recovery in game on this can you? Can't check right now.

Just today I got it, and it was quite hard. The secret is to be as close to the curbs as possible. If you go just a little wide, the track won't be as banked and your speed will be lower. Also on the turn after the massive straight make sure you brake early enough so you can tackle it aggressively and accelerate early. And remember to turn the TC off.

It's the last chicane that gets me.
Any tips on that?

Brake as late as possible. And I mean, don't brake until you basically crash, then brake a bit earlier each time until you know what is the VERY latest you can brake.

Oh right, sorry 👍

It's hard to offer solid advice without watching you attempt it. I just did it over and over again with ghost set to [ON], golded it eventually. I suppose it's a case of practice makes perfect.

You can't use a ghost in any of the AMG Driving Academy events.
When should I start braking for the last chicane?
Any reference points?

I read your posts, but I asked for any reference points.

I'm not at the game right now so can't give anything specific. What is happening to you at the last chicane if you know that is what gets you?

Oversteer to the left :confused::confused::confused:

If it is during braking, then follow this advice:
Don't trail brake as much, or if you're going to trail brake, let off of the brake slower so that you don't oversteer so much.
The amount of rotation you get from trail braking is dependent on how slowly or quickly you release the brake pedal.
I guess I can make a video of the line I would take into the chicane.

If it is during acceleration, then be smoother on the throttle and steering inputs. The jerkier the inputs are, the slower you go. (Normally)

I dunno. As I reach the bottom of the hill (just after the bridge):

It's left, right, left, right... and then left past the pit fence and a hard right isn't it? Almost like a triple chicane.

I brake just at the chicane briefly, then coast left, brake briefly again, coast right, brake briefly and coast left, brake hard and steer right, moderate acceleration as I go left past the fence/wall, brake while steering right past the corner of the fence (that the AI in GT4 would ALWAYS bump into!) and plant it to the line (but not so much as to spin out - as I did recently).

Like I said, it's hard to give you advice without seeing what you are doing. And to be honest, my explanation there seems pointless when you're probably doing it just like I do, or better.

I try to brake as late as possible, but then that involves tail braking.
What reference point did you use for braking?

I dab the brake at the apex of the 1st right to help turn it over the crest then brake roughly halfway between that point an the barrier that sticks out on the left
Use some of that extra tarmac for a wider line into the right before the pits

Tips I would give is to thoroughly learn which direction the track goes. There are plenty of blind corners so knowing how much speed you can carry is good. Use plenty of curb on the exit of turns. Finally don't use unessesary assists, ABS1 and perhaps TCS1 is fine but anything more just slows you down

Oops.I thought this was the one in the rain.My advice is to stick to the left after the hill and thru the chicane. You can brake in a straight line sticking to the left before the right hander.Alot of peolple lose speed on that right hander so cut right on rumble strip and try to get as close to last right guardrail before finish....Good luck

SUCCESS!!!!!
I used a lot more kerb, especially on the run up to the straight.
2:28.960!!!
Loads of time in hand!
I then attempted the Intermediate, Sector 4 and that was much much easier.
I made a massive mistake on the last chicane and still got Gold by over a second.
My run before I got Gold in Beginner, Sector 4, my time was 2:30.009.
