Android 7 issue

So I have a nexus 6p and I'm enrolled in the Android beta program so I'm on Android 7. I did hear that you get software updates seamlessly?like as in they automatically download in the background? But if that's the case then today when I just got the security patch for this month I had to restart and download the update. So am I missing something here?

To install you need to restart the phone.

Go to Settings>About phone
Scroll Down and below Android Version you will get "Android Security Patch Level"

But this is based of what my Galaxy S5 shows me.

I could be wrong but the Seamless Updates are only for the Pixel phones. Could be coming for the 5X and 6P

Since I no longer have my nexus 5 which also couldn't get android 7 I didn't really bother looking in to the new features of it.

The seamless updates is a bloody nice idea but I personally don't mind waiting a few minutes for updates to be installed than having another 1GB of storage used for the extra /system partition.

Never heard that it takes up a gig of the /system.

Since my phone couldnt get Android 7 I didnt really read too much into it.

From what I read it is another copy of the /system folder which can be switched to after updates are applied

But since android uses the linux kernel I would assume it has the same kind of folder/partition structure

/boot for the bootloader, backups of the bootloader and bootloader settings.
/Home for user settings, files and programs for that user only
/usr for system wide programs that any user can use
/system for the OS itself
