I just got around to doing the Polyphony Digital Cup in GT4, and it in no way pays homage to the awesome version of the series featured in GT3. Remember, the car had to be totally stock, and the AI had some actually good cars. Anyone missing it as much as me?

With GT3, you'll learn how to drive.. really well, especially that you have to complete the S-Licences in order to complete the game. That is so cool.. like you can separate the Man from the boys.

And where the h*ll is ROME circuit???

what! i was hanging out for this series for that exact reason! the PD cup in gt3 was one of the best ever race series!!!

they have wrecked it completely! :(

just as well theres plenty else in gt4 to hold my attention :D

nuts
Do I need the S license in order to finish the game in GT4?

If you want to do the driving. Yes.

If you want to B spec. No.

However getting your S license is a good preperation if you want to clear the special missions.

And if you want 100% you'll probably learn some tips that could help in the driving missions. But the license do not add to your percentage

Yeah, I think IA is the most you need.
S is just there to prepare you for the other races to come.
Yes AND no. If you're going to finish extreme in A-Spec you gotta have the S-license. But ot for the missions though, not sure what you need but I have all but the S....
On the other hand you can finish all races (extreme in B-spec) with IA.

Well, didn't have much trouble with this one in GT3. And not in GT4 either. I remember I used the Nissan R390 GT1 Road Car in GT3, so, that one was much better than the competition. Hehe..:P

Nicest races in GT4 are the missions (11-15, 34) and the Audi TT Cup, 206 Cup and the Speedster Trophy.:)

My friend got stuck on the last supercar race (at infineon), so I went over to his house and beat that yesterday, then I went through and got his entire S license for him in about an hour. Only one I had to try twice was the grand canyon one. Ended up with about half silver and half bronze, with one gold. Lots of fun :D My game I only have silver/gold, have yet to get all golds.

I just did the PD cup... it sucks... i remembered in GT3 when i would actually stay away from this race... hehe now it's too easy (prize car not so bad, but i was expecting something a little rarer)

R390 GT1 Road Car + GT3 Polyphony Digital Cup + Mediocre Competition = "OVERKILL"

I definitely agree on mission 11-15, and 34!!!

There are dozens, arguably hundreds, of great races to be in GT4 - if you can't find them it is your fault not the game's.

The PAL Mission 34 is a sad reflection of what it should have been - it was dumbed down way too much and is not really much of a challenge - a fairly mediocre lap will win it.

Saying a mediocre lap will beat mission 34 is rather deflating for all the people that have not yet beaten this mission.

at the two above posts

I'll get to 34 when I've finished all the moderately difficult ones.

It really sucks not having an HP cap to anything in GT4. I was hoping they'd bring it back, as the only decently challenging races in GT3 (thanks to the lack of a cap) were in the Pro Series. Now it's even easier... what's up with that? :ill:

Since your from the Philippines let's have a bargain.. I'll do any mission test you have in exchange of you doing my Mission 34.. :)

He said the PAL version is easy, not the NTSC version :) The PAL version is about 10 seconds slower I think? I don't know, but it's a lot easier :) I haven't beaten 34 yet either (NTSC version), closest I've come is 4 seconds

Hehe... depends. I'll have to try Mission 34 first to see if it's easy. They're right, though... it's the PAL version that's supposed to be a cakewalk. I've got the US NTSC version. :(

A very Gentlemanly Gesture.

Just for everbodies interest my Mediocre lap was just fast enough to win...
I wasn't really worried about how good or bad the lap was, I won.
Those early attempts when I never caught 5th must have been truely awful.

Very sorry, did not want to hurt anyone's feelings - I suppose I have spent too much time firstly, reading about the terrors of M34, and secondly practicing with all sorts of cars at the 'ring (unfortunately not in the SLR I had bought specifically to practice for M34) and attempting 200 point races.

I think all of the 200 point races (including the 4hr) were harder than PAL M34 so I suppose I was just a bit let down.

Perhaps it is because I went for a safe lap that I got a good time - it seems to me at the 'ring that 9/10 times it is better to go a bit slower and not crash than it is to push just a bit harder and risk crashing - I dunno - I have come to like the 'ring a lot. I have also come to like the SLR a lot to - beautiful car to drive.
