Any rSeat Owners?

I'm 6.2 as well with a 38" waist, and don't know if I'll fit comfortably in the seat. I emailed Rseat and they told me I wouldn't have a problem - but I'm not entirely convinced. Any input from V3 owners would be appreciated.

A representative from the company also told me that they can ship the rig without the bucket seat (I'll have to ask for the price).

If I can't fit, I was thinking about buying the rig alone and adding either a used car seat (don't know what I'll do about the mounts, though) or an aftermarket bucket (any proposals?). In any case, I would like to keep the seat cost under $250.

I am 6'4" and 38" waist, and have a V3, the seat is snug at the hips and at the shoulder wings, though, I'm told I'm quite broad shouldered. I enjoy the snug fit, however. Compared to my previous centre post rig I feel that I'm sitting in something, rather than on it :)

The frame still flexes, in the middle, as shown on ISRs' Review, when extended for my height. I would think that for you, two extra inches of tube interface may help alleviate this.

The seat padding as many have said is woeful, however, easy to overcome.

The pedal plate movement is easily addressed if you have a strong brake, I solved this, using LogiForces' advice with the new bolts, metal washers and locknuts, thanks LogiForce 👍

One thing I have noticed, that I have not seen mentioned elsewhere is the unbreathable nature of the seat cover which can promote perspiration in the areas of contact when used for extended periods, a minor niggle.

Overall, despite these minor flaws, I feel it's a great product for the price. I am happy with mine :)

I hope this helps alleviate any concerns you may have, happy racing.

For those with a white rSeat looking for a cushion solution.
White rSeat with white Playseat Evo cushion- The cushion from the Playseat Evo is not as bright as the original seat, if you look closely at the picture you can tell (slight yellow). It's still good enough IMO. I've had 3 friends over so far since I've had the seat and nobody noticed the cushion is slightly off. :D

It's true the cushion does make it a whole new seat, (sit higher) I couldn't imagine a much better solution. The Playseat cushion is massive and there would be no way to stuff the rSeat cushion to the same quality...

picture.php

After getting to use my seat for the past couple of weeks, my impressions are good. My two complaints would be the bucket seat and the shifter holder.

As everyone already knows the seat is not comfortable right out of the box. Adding cushions or stuffing alleviates the problem, but doesn't take away from the fact that your putting effort into something that should have just been done right in the first place. Shaun Cole said it best in his review that the seat felt flat and that it needed to be curved where you rest your butt. Well I have a AKRocker which is basically a solid plastic bucket seat and I never even thought about adding a cushion. (It has the curve for the buttcheeks. :dopey:) The back cushion is no good either IMO. For now I'm using one of those mesh lumbar support cushions but in the future I'm going to have to find more foam and stuff that thing because my back was bothering me as well.

The shifter holder I wish was stiffer. There is more play than I would like there. Not too noticeable while playing but its visible if your watching someone play. I also find myself bending the piece where the shifter bolts to up slightly (from downshifting). I just have to keep bending it back down, I'm trying my best to not be too rough with the shifter. :dopey:

Totally right on all accounts , my biggest problem is the shifter and seat and also its not long enough as i have to have my knees bent or the pedals and wheel will not be attached to the seat frame as the bar is not long enough. I Email rseat for a price on a replacment seat cover and gave me a price of 100 euros. Only had rig 3 weeks and used maximun for 5 hours front padding developed a ripple in it due to inside padding moving or somthing i explained this in email. Wot a rip

my gtr V2 black on black should be here tomorrow or Tuesday. I figured the seat would be a tight fit (I'm a big guy), but I'm not too worried about it.

worst comes to worst it just gives me more of a drive to get back in shape......which is hard. I miss having a 6 pack lol

worth every penny, very happy with my purchase.

everything is rock steady (with a couple extra bolts, I got the idea from a forum member). I'm a big guy and it's comfortable, a little tight on the shoulders but not bad.

Lol thanks guys.

@lopsided - I only had a chance to do a few practice runs in it Tuesday because of work and I go to college. I should be able to get some real seat time today after work, but even with that little amount of time in it........I love it!.

Makes heel toe down shifting so much easier because I'm not rolling back hahaha

oldskoolacura ... after i purchased the rseat i built a dedicated sim racing pc and had no choice but to "park" it all in the corner. now that i don't have to "share" the tv and have triple screens i race a great deal more often. really nice having a rig that's ready to go and not have to drag my old playseat out in front of the big screen!

Nice nice.

My setup isn't too bad, I just have to drag it a couple feet, the PC sits right under the tv

Hey are there any other rSeat/T500 owners using the pedals in GT Rally position? Curious your solution for securing the pedals to the platform. Looking for a new idea...

So any rSeat owners out there with a Buttkicker Gamer 2 attached to it?

I don't have much luck with mine on the rig. The rig feels too sturdy and heavy for it to be shaken properly. I figured as when I attached it to my rotan chair my mind was blown away, though haven't tried any gaming with it on this chair. Tried some music though and anything from the 90's just blew me away. Heck, i'd almost say the buttkicker was kicking my balls into my throat even. lmao

So anyways, not much luck on the rSeat... yet. Any thoughts? Settings, attached to stereo or LFE outputs, mods to the chair, etc. Any tips are welcome to get the most out of it.

Try attaching directly to the seat. When I had my Gamer 2 attached to the rSeat mount I felt it was shaking my floor more than my chair. I have 2 now though.

I reckon you used a wrench socket, washers and a long screw I reckon? Like in this guy's vid but then mounted to the side?

But yeah, had the same thing as you I suppose. They complained downstairs but I was wondering where the vibrations went before that. lol

Yes that's exactly what I did. 👍

Me too, I live on the top floor of a condominum so I have two heavy duty rubber mats underneath. Sort of like these: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-100671752/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=rubber+mat&storeId=10051#.UEfzgELd648
Then with the Buttkickers being attached directly to the seat I can keep the volume much lower than I could if they were attached to the normal mount. My neighbors haven't complained yet. :D

Edit: Oh yea rubber isolators as well.

Thanks for taking the pics! 👍

Alright, I'll go find me a socket of sorts tomorrow to mount it onto and see how this thing will shake me. :)

I might order some rubber mats as well, even though I already use a small carpet.
What were the isolators you used? The ones on the buttkicker store?

Like these: http://www.buttkickergear.com/RI_4_ButtKicker_Rubber_Isolator_5_pack_p/ri-4-pak.htm

I can get these easily in a local shop, though they are for speakers they can carry 70kg each.

I had the pics ready Logi! You gave me a reason to post them. :D

Only invest if you can get them fairly cheap. I bought mine way cheaper than the ones I linked. I sometimes think if I even need two, I might have went a little too crazy there. :dopey:

Yes I have the buttkicker branded ones. IMO they are sort of a waste of money for the rSeat. Your paying extra for them opposed to a regular rubber stopper from a hardware store because they have the hole with like a built in washer so you can hard mount them.
Of the rSeats nine mount points (5 under the seat, 2 under the C-Section, 2 under the pedals) you can only hard-mount the 5 under the seat. No access to the others. 👎
I ended up just using double sided tape on all of them because it would annoy me to have the job done only half way right. The ones that need hard-mounting are the C-Section and the Pedals as they are the moving parts when adjusting the seat. :boggled:
I'd just go with the cheapest rubber "feet" you can find from a local hardware store. Don't call them isolators or else they cost $money.

..... I have to admit those are some blinged-out isolators. That 24K? :P

No seriously don't you think that shape looks sort of unstable?

Hoodfield, I was thinking of rigging my buttkicker to the side and looky what I see tonight. Looks good, gonna try that as I do feel that the frame might be too rigid/sturdy to get the best vibes.
When I was using a Playseat I built a bracket that put it right under my butt!

This might be more than you want to do but I built a box to go beneath my pedal mounting platform as I anticipated adding a load cell brake (come on Bodin) and wanted to be able to use max pressure.

Ghehe, good thing I came asking then for tips on this stuff. ;)

Alright, I will leave out those mats first. See how far I can get with isolation stuff.

Cheapest door stoppers or anything round and soft rubbery to keep me off of the ground? I will look about. ;)

Eh... yeah, I dunno. They sure looked fancy. Might as well be. If it is then I will consider it my life savings (gold is doing good these days after all). lmao :P

I don't think they are unstable though. The more weight on them, the more stable they become as the pressure pushes in the round tip and then it becomes flat. Kinda like slightly over inflating a car tire so that when the weight of the car is on it then tire has a completely flat contact surface. They just go on with doublesided tape though (or some glue), no hardmounting.
Also if a sub or a large column speaker is stable on them, why won't the rig be? ;)

Guess I really wasn't the only one thinking the vibes of the buttkicker aren't too great on the normal mount of the rSeat due to weight/rigidity.
Try hooking it up to a lighter chair if you have one that is cable of mounting the BKG2 to. I am sure you will notice a great difference. And I am sure if we do as Hoodfield did then it will improve on our rSeat too. :)

That box, I thought about it when you posted it. Though I went for using a slightly longer bolt (as replacement) and bigger&thicker metal washer plus a colorless plastic washer, then a lock nut on the back side of the screw holes. It's just as solid now and I do push with a lot of force. My dad who normally drives a car thinks the brake is too stiff on my CSPv2's now. So I am sure I am pushing about the same as a F1 driver is, without a box.

I'm sure you will notice a big difference. The problem with the Buttkicker being mounted near the floor is you have to turn it up so loud to feel anything. That thing was shaking my entire room.

Closer to the seat the better IMO. 👍

Looks awesome! You need to paint it black though. :P
I would eventually do this if I get sold on that mod myself. I'm looking forward to reading everyones impressions.

Not really door stoppers because they probably couldn't handle the weight. I've seen rubber legs for like furniture at the hardware store that looked just like my Buttkicker branded isolators. Like for example: http://www.amazon.com/Amico-Black-Rubber-Furniture-Protector/dp/B007Q94XP6/ref=sr_1_4?s=hardware&ie=UTF8&qid=1346899782&sr=1-4&keywords=rubber+feet
You know something that looks sturdy and can handle some weight.

I guess it would depend on the surface you use them on. On hard flooring they would probably work great but on carpet maybe not as good. IDK think about rocking back and forth in the chair? Hey I'm sure they are fine, I'm about to order a set myself, maybe an extra to wear one around my neck.

You only live once if you feel the need for the Gold isolators I say go for it! Hell when I was in the isolator market, if someone showed me those they would of been a top contender.

Lmao... I better go the cheap route. Will check some of the furniture stores here if they sell those kinds of things. The hardware stores over here are crap. Can´t even get normal wood in them anymore these days for example. I´m sure i´ll find some. :)

Hoodfield, You know that carbon fiber wrap people use and nearly everything? I was thinking I might give it a shot on the box instead of painting. Never used before but it's a good excuse to get my feet wet! :) But if that turns out good I'm likely to want to wrap a bunch of stuff. lol

Logiforce, I like a good stiff brake too and am hoping the Bodin mod will provide that. The guys at ISR did a review and Shaun commented on how hard the brake pedal was for him so sounds like I'll be happy.

Ha ha I know what you mean. Before you know it you'll be carbon-wrapping your monitor stand, your TV, maybe the baseboard heaters?

Just installed my buttkicker to my right side... WOW! What a difference. Litterally day and night. lol

I was just downstairs to check the sound levels with this thing at max while playing this:

Looks like I need some sort of isolators under the chair at least.

ps. I'll sure as hell need on on the left too :P

Update:

Just tried some more different music. Still feels underpowered, the BKG2 on the rSeat in the end. Though it did make a big improvement over the original mount on the rSeat.

I think you get double the vibration from the original mount, though when mounted to a light seat (like a rotan seat) it feels still like half the power of that.

Update 2:

i just went out to buy some isolators and got me eight speaker/instrument vibration isolation pucks with a diameter of 5cm. They were 5 euro per puck, but you can just throw them under the seat and remove them just as easily. Basically they are just foam pads on which the seat rests.

The pucks work very well. The rSeat plus about 60 kilos of me and they still have more then enough spring left. Actually the seat rolls a little bit when I lean in the chair, which isn't a hindrance at all when driving. Strangly it gives me a little introduction to a motion rig or do it feels. Lol
Also the biggest benefit from these pucks and them being so strong is that all vibrations are absorbed and do not reach the floor. In fact it feels like it aids in tranfering and keeping all vibrations in the rig. Cause I can easily feel them in the pedals and steering wheel as well.
Of course the vibrations feel just as powerful as on my rotan chair now, if not slightly more powerful.

One thing I had to do though, I had to put some nylon washers between the chair mount and the chair. As the mount was vibrating against the chair at the half way point between the bolts. So that generated unwanted vibrations and noise.

Anyways, thanks a lot for the help Hoodfield.

Edit...

These were the type of pucks I meant (mine are different though).

Awesome, glad you got sorted out Logi

I used a large rubber washer between the socket and the rSeat to protect the finish. I occasionally have to tighten the sockets as well, as the Buttkicker will slowly loosen them up over time, a minor inconvenience. :indiff:

I totally forgot to mention what a difference the isolators made, less rattle and the kick feels tighter. Anyone with a Buttkicker should add isolators to enhance the experience. Looks like you got the perfect ones, I like them better than mine. 👍

Thanks!

And yeah, I figured it would become loose. I will think of a solution of sorts for that some day if there is any.

Though I use long bolts and then a lock nut on the other end of the screw hole on the seat.
The side leather you can easily lift up cause it's fastened with velcro (like the rest of the seat. And then when you lift up the padding a bit you can get to the screw hole's other side. There I put a lock nut and tightened it. You won't notice it sticking out the other end, at least I don't in my seat.

I have lock nuts and longer bolts to replace all original bolts on the rSeat, except for the ones that hold the steering mount to the C-frame. Hence I don't need the wooden support under the wheels.
Longer bolts, bigger and thicker washers, paint free nylon washers, lock nuts. Everything is bolted down tightly now here. 👍

Oh and these are the pucks I got. I made a pic while trying out dad's old flash that he gave me. Dunno the brand or anything though. :guilty:

I see many friends here use Thrustmaster T500RS.Looks cool but in the Amazon website many customers wrote bad reviews so they make me feel G27 is more safe to buy.But why everyone here is buying T500RS ? It is more expensive?

I care about the size.About G27 is it very small or OK ?
