Not specifically, but about two weeks after release I do have nearly three weeks off for the holidays so a good deal of that time will be spent playing GT đź‘Ť

Make sure you don't enjoy yourself too much. Order an extra round of self-flagellation and settle back to mock the peasants for daring to have a good time.

What's it to you how people spend their spare time? Care to share your hobbies with us so that we can mock them for being a ridiculous waste of time?

The problem is you're focusing on the things in life that don't really matter. When I was a kid I had hopes and dreams. We all did. But over time, the daily grind gets in the way and you miss the things that really matter, even though they are right in front of you, staring you in the face. I think the next time you should ask yourself "Am I on the right track here?". I don't mean to be rude but people like you I really pity. So maybe you could use the brain cells you have and take advantage of the knowledge I have given you now. Good luck.

I'm pretty sure the question in the OP is "Anyone scheduling vacation time to play GT6?" He said no, because he finds the concept ridiculous. You're the one taking that beyond what he actually said to claim he's mocking others.

What? What am I being pitied for? I didn't understand a word of that. Are you saying that you had hopes and dreams but now...something? What?

He could have just said no and stopped there. But he had to add that it was a ridiculous idea, to take time off to play a game.

Why tell everyone in the thread who said yes that what they're planning is ridiculous? That just seems abusive to me.

So what?

Because he considers it ridiculous, and the thread is asking whether you would do it. He won't, and he said why. I agree with him. I wouldn't be surprised if other people who said no in this thread also consider it as such (such as HarVee, who posted right after liampage). I'm struggling to see where the abusiveness comes into play when he's answering a question posed and explaining his reasoning why without actually saying anything about the people who are. And he's certainly not targeting anyone just because you decided his post meant he was mocking everyone who said they would.

Wish I had time off from school to play GT6 when it comes out but Final Exams are the next week and I will need to study :scared:

I'm speaking for a lot of people actually. Think about it. Where did I say that playing a game, or having hobbies is a waste of time, and ridiculous?

If you read my post again, PROPERLY, I said that taking time of work to play a game is ridiculous, I was not mocking others for having hobbies.

Time off work to go camping for a week, fine, time off work to spend some time in the big city, fine, time off work to play a video game, get real.

Haha..should have left that one alone. Looks like you just appointed yourself arbiter of what is a legitimate reason to take off work and what is not. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and all that:sly: I guess I'm not real either because I will try and get that weekend off so I can indulge in an orgy of GT in between other things:)

Lol, I am not going to discriminate you for doing that, although I still think its dumb. I will never take time off work to play a game, save it for the weekend.

I am not really being arbiter, if your boss found out your were taking days off to play a game, he would not be pleased.

Self employed...the "boss" knows all about it.

Says the person with 8000+ posts, posting on a Internet forum dedicated to a video game.

Unless you are being ironic or something...:)

Whatever floats your boat. Maybe someone gets more enjoyment out of this game than camping. I hate camping. I think it is ridiculous. But I wouldn't think it ridiculous that someone would take vacation to do that.

If you want to take a week off to go and sit in your underpants and listen to "Barbie Girl" by Aqua on constant repeat, I'm not going to criticise. They are your vacation days. Use them for what you want.

It is a little strange that people are being told that taking a bit of time off to play the very game this forum is dedicated to - that is ridiculous. There is irony there, that's for sure.

I find this remark rather strange - I don't need to justify the reasons for taking days off to my boss. I'm not a slave and he/she isn't my task master. My days off are my own to do with however I wish.

I wonder why when I mention 'day off', most people automatically assume it's unpaid. Doesn't anyone get paid vacation?

Taking time off to spend time doing an enjoyable activity, oh the horror.

+10000

100% none of the employer's business. I am never asked for a reason, and I never give one. I wouldn't be surprised if employment law here makes it an outlawed question really.

Agreed. Heck, I probably would've used paid vacation for GT6 if I didn't have to use it for something else earlier this year.

I took a day off when GT5 was released, but with this being released close to Christmas I don't think I will do that again.

Yeah, I was thinking that. I'm just going for a half day flexi leave on release day, and then do some more serious play on the Christmas week.

Same thing will happen with GT5 probably - I'll play it a lot over the holiday period and after that it will be an occasional pick up and play once a month or so.

Nope. I'm currently not employed, so I have all the time in the world to play GT6, now lets see if I can scrape together enough money to buy it on release day :)

My vacation days are based off a percentage of what I made the previous year, in my case I pulled crazy overtime so now I actually get paid more per vacation day than I do when worked .

Still not taking time off though, any unused vacation/sick days get paid out at the end of the year, that helps recover from the holidays . Not to mention I work 3 days a week, 36 hours, plenty of time to play :).

I'm not, I work a 2nd shift job, so I don't really need to. Plus, everyone is out of the house, so I won't be disturbed.
