But seriously, what's your trick lead runners? How can I save tires and be fast? Shifting sooner and lighter feet?

The key was not to spin up the tyres, even in the wet they still burn quickly if you spin. It was quicker to use the lower gears and throttle control but short shifting helped preserve the tyres. :)

Also try to maximise exit speed in the wet. Take a wide entry to certain corners (Hairpin, Spoon etc.) get the car turned and that will allow you to maxmise exit speed. đź‘Ť

Everything that he said is true, about those conditions. It's really easy to spin the rear tires in even the higher gears. I actually found a narrow entry to the hairpin was working for me too. Slow and steady entry, short-shifting traction managed exit.

I took it pretty easy during the last stint and just managed my fuel since I thought I might have gotten too little. And it worked out okay, I probably could have pushed a bit more. But coasting at the end of the straights didn't cost me that much. Didn't rev it over 6k other than the straights.

I had a decent time though, would have been better with the brandofo and R1600 still around. It might be ice racing, but it's still difficult. I think it could have been fun.

I'll probably work on taking some pictures tomorrow. Was glad I could pull in some points for Carb and Nel though and come through for the team that 'hired' me!

Marunda, venommotor sports should be on 12 not 2 points đź‘Ť

Stoopid autosum not doing what it should....

Right, mixed that, turns out the autosum had disappeared.

I feel I might have done better if the race was dry, I could run mid 2:23s on good tyres. However, I'm happy with 3rd after such a long and hard race, especially after a slightly disappointing first race a Tsukuba. Also slightly surprised to be joint (almost) leading the championship.

No kidding! I was spinning my rears in fourth gear.. And when the tires get worn out you get even more wheel spin. I should probably have short shifted more and learn not to spin the tires out of every corner...

Indeed, I would like to thank you personally, as because of you we are now on top of the teams' standings, rather than something like 5th. :P

It was my pleasure, glad to do any of these events! It's a fun little car.

More tomorrow probably.

Thought I 'd ask now to get replies by (hopefully) Friday: Any times for Deep Forest Reverse? I'd like a target to aim for. ;)

I put in several laps yesterday and my best is 1:26.4

I am running the track with weak penalty on so that you can't cut across the concrete area after the tunnel near the end.

Thanks. đź‘Ť

The penalty on the concrete at DF is a bit harsh though (often penalises you with 2 wheels still on tarmac), as long as 2 of your wheels are touching tarmac/red & white kerbing it should be fine. :)

I agree the penalty is pretty harsh. I am not sure how Dax is going to do qualifying/race wrt the penalty. I think during quali you either put penalty on so no one cuts the concrete area, or turn off penalty and allow us to cut it. I would probably prefer to have penalty on during quali.

During the race though I would hate for someone to get a 5 sec penalty for barely touching that area. We will see what Dax wants to do.

No penalties at all, that's my call. Dax has always allowed cutting straight across that curb before, in normal and reverse.

I am fine with no penalties since it's fair for everyone and adds nothing extra to enforce.

Without the penalty I dropped into the 1:25s

I'd rather not use that concrete if I don't have to. In fact I probably won't either way.

đź‘Ť

I'd rather not, it feels a bit cheaty as it makes that corner a lot easier than it should be. :indiff:

I think we're all mature enough that we can be trusted to not cut it even without penalties.

Throws the car in the air. And people will probably be tempted to use it to pass. That being said, I don't care either way. Could make things very interesting.

In reverse I don't think the concrete makes much difference. I do allow use of it, however.

I got a room open for a couple hours:

I will update when it closes.

I set a 1:25.1 without the penalty on crossing the concrete so it does take about one second off of your lap time since you hit the next turns at a much higher speed.

Think I might have to do some practice tonight try and get some competitive times in.

I don't usually practice much, especially with spec cars. 5-6 laps and I'm up to speed usually. :)

And for me to reach the same lap times.. about 100 laps ^^ But I'm guessing you've done your share of laps previously.. that skill probably didn't just happen to be there one day. :P

It usually doesn't take me long, but I've probably driven this track like twice in the 14 or so years I've been playing Gran Turismo.:P

I take longer. I'm not one of these people who can jump in anything and be fast, I have to learn the car/track behaviour. Takes me about 20 laps. :indiff:

Going on to do some practise now. Feel free to add me (marunda) and join. đź‘Ť

EDIT: CLOSED!

After half an hour or so I'm down to a 25.3 with at least .5 to find especially in T1.

Had another 20 minutes and got down to a 1:24.974.

Had to check up slightly going into the first tunnel and got all sorts of sideways on entry to the turn with all the concrete. So probably another .3 to find. đź‘Ť
