And so did you. You know well enough that lots of surface water on sports tyres is nigh on undrivable.

I was still having fights.

In all honesty I didn't think it would rain all race but still, rage quitting is quite laughable.

If Dax has any decency he'll let us re-run this one or just drop it altogether.

This.

Crew Chief: Lewis, it's pouring rain, what tires you on?
Lewis Hamilton: Hards of course!
Crew Chief: Hards? Are you crazy?!
LH: Nope! Who cares how it feels like, just as long as it's fun!

The thing is that at the end of the day most of us want a fun race and 100% rain simply isn't fun even if it is realistic. Unfortunately, you can't make the settings where rain won't go over a certain percentage like 30%. I am sure most people would have preferred a dry race over this one even if their results were worse.

But I am just expressing my opinion, not trying to persuade Dax to make any changes. Just letting you know my perspective from someone who races in series for competitive fun racing where every now and then I have a chance to win or score a podium.

Qualifying was very fun and the variation of water from 10-30% was great and it affected the outcome of qualifying which is what you want. But the race just got F'ed with 100% water. I am curious if anyone who finished the race actually had fun.

If you agree with me, put your names down.

List of people who will not race in the rain with dry tires in the future:

Sign up for a season with SH only and rain races...

...complains when racing on SH's in rain.

Do what WSC does. Enforce Racing wets (not inters) as an option - which also leaves a little grey area as to when to switch over.

If I may suggest...

For example if you want to do a wet track race without allowing Inter/Rain tyres, why not start the race with a high level of water on surface but with cloudy sky and fixed settings, so it won't start raining...

That way, while it will be though on the start, it will create gaps between good and less good drivers on wet, as the track dries out...

This sounds pretty good actually. As long as the initial surface water isn't TOO high.

Was thinking this while racing "Surely racing rain tyres would be more fair than this.."

I had two stupid spins on lap 4 which dropped me over 25 seconds off the pack. Then I put my head down battled all the way up to 6th before stops, where I stupidly put 25ls in.. (I had 23ls left at end of the race..)

That dropped me back to 8th. I continued on and caught up to the 3 way battle for 5th. I found ways past over time, some from passing others from their mistakes.

From there I just pulled away into a lonely 5th. I was gaining 1-1.5 seconds on the leader a lap, clocking 3:08s, which kept me going. On last lap I had gained time on Dax from around 20 or so behind to 9 ish. I was settled with 5th but pushed to the limit in an effort to close enough to worry him.. I couldn't but he went off on his own at Spoon which meant I was right on his bumper coming up to 130R, he outbroke himself into the chicane and I got an unexpected free place.

I curse my errors, but so will everyone else, and taking way too much fuel but a decent comeback to 4th is nice enough. I also took 15 seconds out of the lead in my last 9 laps so I had enough pace to get closer to the front.. But as they said Sh.. happens :P.

P.S. After my stop my Scottish side took over I rekon, I seemed to find grip I couldn't before .

Racing in that crap was laughable. Might as we call it ice racing, except we didn't have the luxury of studded tires.

Personally I had lots of fun, great battles with carracer, Dax and Yera early on and a massive battle with Dax in the 2nd stint was a big plus.

I'm against re-running the race. Drop-score may not be a bad idea, but at the end of the day I don't think it matters. If you didn't want to run the race, you could quite easily have just pulled over or cruised round and still scored points.

Tables to follow. 👍

I had things to do. Getting a jump start on my day was better than "cruising around" so I left.

That was a waste of time. The only reason I didn't quit was because I thought of being sportsmanlike, although I can perfectly see why R1600 and Sumo decided to get out. I'm sure they had better things to do than this ice skating.

I would prefer a night race to a wet race, but today's race was still fun. Just needed to have good throttle control :) to keep it on the track.

Well I would just like to say I had fun.
It was great until my DFGT started heating up too much so I had to switch back to the DS3. I was a top 5 car before that. All I could do was hold of Carb.

Hey i found you all!

Thanks for letting me compete. I still don't understand where you guys get your tire preservation and speed from! I was on DS3 so i went automatic.. still had a blast!

I'd love to keep driving as long as this stays on Sundays ! I won't make next weeks race but I'll try the others for sure.

Sent Dax a couple pictures, hopefully he'll post them.

But seriously, what's your trick lead runners? How can I save tires and be fast? Shifting sooner and lighter feet?

The key was not to spin up the tyres, even in the wet they still burn quickly if you spin. It was quicker to use the lower gears and throttle control but short shifting helped preserve the tyres. :)

Also try to maximise exit speed in the wet. Take a wide entry to certain corners (Hairpin, Spoon etc.) get the car turned and that will allow you to maxmise exit speed. 👍

I wondered what happened to you. I thought you'd just stayed out too long on worn tyres. 💡

I didn't have fun at all today.. except for the first few laps.. I went from 14th to sixth while others were making mistakes in the beginning but then when surface water hit 70% BAM i could not control the car anymore.. took until the last few laps before i could get some kind of consistency again and then it was 3:12s

Don't mind scrapping it and don't mind keeping it.. at least my team mate had a better day. I keep racking up those 10th places.
