Here's why I think someone could be unhappy with GT6 on PS3: The devs always claim to have "maxed out" the hardware, which makes it hard to believe there's gonna be a lot of improvement. A lot of developers do that, it's common PR talk. But if you make it sound like your game is the best it can be on given hardware, it's to be expected that people will imagine that the game can't get much better until new hardware arrives.

I agree, I think it is highly likely there will still be some graphical issues in GT6, because of the limitations of the PS3.
The demo clearly indicates this.
So, I pretty much expect it at this point.

Furthermore, releasing GT6 for the PS3 will be make it look less impressive than other racing titles due out this year, or next. It's perfectly reasonable to go for the larger install base of the PS4, but I do think that, if you're quite fond of the franchise, it'd be a bit of a downer to see other games looking superior just because of the hardware they're running on. It of course is by no means a fair comparison, nor is going to be something everyone is going to be affected by as not everyone will own the new hardware to run it on. However, if you do, it's simply that having the option to go next gen or stick with GT isn't what some people would've liked. Just my idea of what's going on, obviously.

I think it's safe to assume you meant the install base of the PS3.
As I pointed out in another thread, GT6 is positioned as a economic favorite by default,
since you will have to buy a XB1 to play Forza 5, and won't have to buy a PS4 to play GT6.
It will probably be the last big hoorah to milk the last out of the PS3.
As a result, I believe this will help boost GT6 sales quite a bit as well.
Personally, I'm in favor of it since I already have a PS3 that sees virtually no activity,
and would basically be reduced to a dust collector, if GT6 was not coming out on it.
Hopefully GT6, will be a better game than 5, and provide some redeeming quality to my purchase of the PS3, being done almost exclusively for the GT series.

Also, with a new GT game releasing in late 2013/early 2014, I would think that it'll be quite a while before a GT game makes its way onto the PS4. Don't get me wrong, I, for one, don't really care. There'S enough next-gen eye candy around as is and some great car related games are close to release. But if you happen to be on the fence of buying a PS4, the prospect of a new GT game within the next few years might have been enough to tip the scales. GT games have been moving consoles quite well, I should think.

Again, I prefer that scenario.
I can sample GT6 and put off any decisions on the purchase of PS4 until GT7.
The quality of GT6 will play heavily into that as well.

And, last but not least, I'd like to point out that GT1 and, especially GT3, followed a different route than GT5 did. For GT3, PD was seemingly okay with reducing the amount of content in order to maintain a coherent, overall relative high quality. With GT, I feel that they refused to take a step back from GT4 in terms of sheer quantity. As such, the situation is different now than it was when going from GT1 to GT2 and from GT3 to GT4. Back then, PD just had to add content, as that was what was somewhat "lacking". However, I doubt that anyone has been complaining about the amount of content in and off itself with GT5. From what I can tell, the issue with that game was more that the content wasn't done to with a coherent level of quality in mind and that some of it was implemented despite being unfinished. Something that, in my opinion, PD decided against with GT3. So they likely took all the stuff they couldn't get done in time for GT3, refined them, and but them in GT4. This time around, though, they'll have to fix what's there first. Which makes it somewhat hard to compare GT5 --> GT6 to GT1 --> GT2 or GT3 --> GT4.

I think you are right in that it's hard to fiqure what we will get with GT6.
I'll just say, I hope it will be more in line with previous GTs, and particularly GT4.

I really wanted to, can't wait to get my hands on it at Day 1, but some problems here... gaming stores here don't usually do this pre order thing, I'd have to pre order online, and the time til it ships to here would be the same as waiting til it reach the stores here. So I guess I can just wait one week or two to get a normal copy.
The other thing is the 1mil credits boost you get, I really think this cuts off the fun of the game, you know... starting off with an old used car, making your way up from the small events with the slowest cars to the biggest series driving high end cars. With the 1mil credits boost I could just buy me lots of overpowered cars on Day 1, without even saying the starter cars you get by pre order.
So I guess my final answer is no.

Yeah, the game is surely in the favourable position, compared to a game on a new system. I fully agree with that. It's surely going to get Sony some nice sales as the PS3 goes out with a big bang :)
And you're right, I was on about the PS3's install base.

I don't actually know what I'd prefer myself (strange, isn't it?). On one hand, a GT game that's comparable to, say, Project CARS and the like would be awesome. But you're definitely right, investing in a new console for a specific game is usually a huge gamble. Given the number of pre-orders, though, there are probably tons of people who aren't in that situation.

I guess the thing that makes me raise an eyebrow is that I would've expected Sony to try and get all their flagship titles ready as launch titles. Especially with the PS4 hardware supposedly being profitable from day one. Doesn't matter to me, honestly, I think it's just a bit surprising. Personally, I have a feeling that it wasn't necessarily planned that way. I could imagine that Sony originally planned to release GT5 and 6 earlier in the PS3's life - things just took a bit longer. Just speculation, obviously.

But, I'd say that there's no right or wrong here. Both scenarios have their ups and downs - both for Sony and the players.

Would definitely be great if PD went and fleshed things out the way they did with previous GTs. I know that some folks will say that PD never dropped the ball in the first place, but I would love to see GT return to its former glory... All personal perception, mind you :)

I can only speculate as well.
Apparently, Sony could'nt pass on the 70 + million PS3 owners and potential GT6 buyers.
Even as you say, if it came later in the gen cycle than they would have liked.
I feel sure they consulted all the predictive marketing strategies, before making their decision.
Also, I don't think they are short on titles to help move the PS4.
All this is in keeping with prior gen cycle GT releases and will probably continue with GT7 being a booster title for PS4 down the road.

It might be your personal perception, but I can assure you, it is right in step with mine 👍

I think you're right, they surely looked at all the facts at hand and went with what they perceived as the most favourable option. Personally, if I was in their shoes, I would've released GT6 on the PS3 as is and, a little later, some sort of GT6 HD Remix for the PS4. I think EA did that with Need for Speed Most Wanted when the Xbox360/PS3 launched...
It might be your personal perception, but I can assure you, it is right in step with mine 👍

I honestly do hope that GT6 does well, even although I have switched to the Forza series and am loving it. I used to be a die hard fan of the GT games, and swore by them. Then, after 6yrs in development, and so much promised, GT5 was released and its like.....what?!!! After my PS3 died, I decided to get an Xbox 360 and sold all my PS3 games. One of the first games I bought was Forza 3. And while it wasnt quite as realistic handling as the GT series, everything else it contained was on my wishlist for GT5. Most importantly cockpit views for every car and vehicle damage. Forza 4 just upped the ante with better visuals and Top Gear all over it (it even used the Tv shows camera angles when you watched a replay on the TG test track).

So while I respect the fans of GT, I myself am no longer one of them. I hope PD delivers all that you want with GT6. Because I suspect, if they dont, I may not be the last to switch to the Forza series.

Hi,
Information for all German Players:

Yesterday, i talked with my local german Gamestop store. They told me, that all Pre Order Bonis will also come to german.

I already have Pre-ordered GT6 and am waiting to see what has changed from the last GT game but if the answer is not much then I will be cancelling my Pre-order as I don't want a carbon copy of GT5 I am now officially bored of it and have not play it since buying Grid 2 :(

Preordered the anniversary edition the other day from EBgames. Looking forward to it especially with Bathurst looking likely to be in it (EB are advertising the fact that it's in it)

I preordered it already. When I asked my local GameStop about the anniversary edition they said they didn't know what it was, even though they were advertising it.

How close to GT5s release was the announcement of the Signature Edition?
I would like to get the GT6 version too, if its ever to materialise.

This thread... :boggled:

My question is if I pre-ordered from Gamestop do I get the 15th Anniversary Edition automatically or was I suppose to specifically ask for it?

^^ I think you have to specify.

After reading through this thread I started thinking the same thing. But it wouldn't make much sense if it was the exact same price? I didn't even think to ask when I was there because I assumed it would be automatic.

Here's what is says on GS's website:

Pre-order Gran Turismo 6 to receive the GameStop Exclusive 15th Anniversary Upgrade!

So yeah, sounds like you get it automatically simply by pre-ordering.

And for what it's worth, I pre-ordered online from them and my order confirmation simply says Gran Turismo 6.

It's official I preordered yesterday. Seems strange however, I preordered GT5 a day or two before it was released. I'm looking forward to the exclusive cars and more information on packaging options in the future as we get closer to the release date.

I pre-ordered GT6 when I picked up my copy of Grid 2 in May. If you are going to pre-order GT6 and live in the United States, pre-order it from Gamestop because you get 16 cars:

Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale 2011
Alpine A110 1600S 1968
Aston Martin V12 Vantage 2010
Audi R8 LMS ultra 2012
Ford Focus ST 2013
Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 2013
Honda HSV-010 (SUPER GT) 2011
KTM X-BOW R
Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 2011
Lexus IS F Racing Concept 2008
Lotus Europa (type54) 1968
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 2011
Renault Sport Megane Trophy V6 2011
SRT Viper GTS 2013
TRD 86 Racing 2008
Volkswagen Scirocco GT24 Race Car 2008

You also get customized paint chips, race suit, helmet, PSN Avatar, and a copy of Beyond the Apex II app along with the 4 cars everyone else gets when they pre-order:
BMW Z4 GT3 ’11
Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 ’13
Tesla Model S Signature Performance ’13
Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (C7) ’14

I just pre ordered the 15th anniversary edition today at Gamestop today. Needless to say, i never felt quite happy ordering a game.

I can't really pre-order yet as I'm in the process of getting ready to move into a new state. I'll preorder at a gamestop as soon as I'm done with all of that nonsense.

I am preordering, but I am waiting for the right time.
By right time, I mean i'm waiting for their next big announcement so I can scream and shout and be like
timthumb.php

I gain nothing since I don't live in the US, so I won't have it on its real release date. I'll go to my local video game store and buy it personally. Usually they have new releases a couple of days after their official release date.

you mean gt5.5

unless they add the ability to look around the exterior of the car with the analog stick, then nope i wont even consider it.

How the hell
So a new physics model, tire model, suspension model isn't enough to make it considered gt6

But a free camera will
OK
