Assassins Creed III

AC2 was ok. I got repetitive. III looks interesting though.

It was better than the games that followed it. How exactly did it get repetitive? It was full of excellent set pieces. If you think AC2 was "repetitive", then you must think ACB and ACR were repetitive too.

AC2 was the only one I'ved however I understand the story. It was a great game don't get me wrong, but the story in itself was cutscene, go here and kill this guy, get attack by bajillions of guards, somehow survive and repeat over and over. Everyone entitled to their own opinion I guess.

I'm going to make it my mission to tree ALL of you come 11:30. I will sit there for an hour, hitting refresh, to beat all of you to it. Just you wait.

I'm psyched right now. I can't wait for the big reveal. I'll do my best to get all the new info posted in this thread as it's happening.

And how nothing was personal in ACR. There was no tyrant that stripped you of your rank and forced you to fetch it like a dog, there was no person that killed your family, and nobody destroyed your home and killed (yet another) a member of your family.

Remember what assassins actually are?

Ezio was pursuing his own agenda regarding Masyaf that took him into someone else's struggle. His enemy wasn't his enemy (though he certainly managed to make it happen), but someone else's. His investigations on their behalf - as an assassin - aligned with his own interests - as an Assassin.

Now, what was like a knife in the heart to you?

The sixth Masyaf Key.

You're really stuck on that prediction of yours. Worried that you might be wrong for once? Conner's part Mohawk, part British. Where would the Iroquois part come from?

You might want to read up on the first Iroquois League... It was a group of native American nations in New England and Canada which included the Five Nations of Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca and... gwan, you can guess it :D

The Tuscarora joined to make the Iroquois League a six Nation association and during the Revolutionary War the Tuscarora and Oneida fought for Congress and the Onondaga, Cayuga and Seneca fought for the British. The Mohawk fought on both sides.

I'd normally think you're being sarcastic, but knowing your personality I don't think you are. This game is going to be huge, they even said that they're trying to put a next-generation game on a current-generation console. That says something.

The reveal is supposed to happen at around 8:30 AM PST, (translates to 11:30 AM here) though an exact time hasn't been set. Over 7 months until the game comes out, though. Wow. I honestly don't think I'll be able to wait that long.

One of the reasons I'm so hyped up about this is because I live in an extremely history-rich area. I've been to Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, Ferry Farm, (look it up) and not to mention a slew of Civil War battlefields, so seeing a game with so much American History in it makes me go through the roof with excitement. I have a very good understanding of what it was like to live back then, so even thinking about being able to explore a few different colonies is awesome.

Oh, now I see your encouragement in the game. I particularly like American History, but it isn't my ego so you could understand why I'm not extremely hyped about the game. On the other hand, if the entire storyline plays a rightful tune, perhaps it'll revolutionize historic accuracy in video games.

It's the UK version. Close enough.

All of the trailer is made up of the new game engine. It's not just CG like Revelation's trailer was.

Hopefully there's a squire killing contest game mode in multiplayer. Or maybe a capture the bell mode (and the game let's you ring it loudly while running if you feel like doing it lol)

AC3 looks BA....

Now on to teh serious stuffs.

First off, if anybody wants to know anything, just ask and I'll try to dig it up/answer it to the best of my knowledge. (because I have read so many different articles over the past few days it's not even funny)

Now, on to dissecting the trailer. I've seen a bit where two Scottish people talk about it, and they were complete morons. (no offense to Scottish people in general) They were like, "LOL you see that dude holding the drum and running into battle? That's dumb LOL. There are a lot of under-equipped people in this game."

OK. At the beginning we see an eagle flying over Mohawk valley with an animus glitch on it's tail feathers as it turns left. We are seeing through Desmond's eyes.

00:16: We see British soldier bodies and wolves eating them. This suggests that bodies will last longer than in other games, and it could possibly have an effect on your notoriety.

00:23: We see Conner dual-wielding a knife and his hatchet against Redcoats. Maybe we'll be able to use a combo of any two weapons?

00:39: This part raises a few flags. They're not red flags, but they're flags. I was watching the IGN breakdown this morning and somebody saw something odd-ish. Notice how he rips the hatchet in his right hand away (as if he just finished working on something) and his left hand lags behind, as if it was holding something. Conner's part Native American. You see where I''m going with this? Yes, it looks like he's scalping somebody. Now, I don't have an enormous problem with this, but I'd feel odd hitting Square repeatedly to do the job. Or, he could just be skinning an animal, which I have no problem with whatsoever.

00:44: Here's the jumping from tree to tree bit. At the beginning he does a 90-degree Ezio style lamp (branch) turn. Afterword he just does a little acrobatic bit. What I'm wondering is how will they make the trees say "Hey, you can climb me and jump from me onto that tree over there!" but still make the environment look natural?

1:00: We are looking over a field of Redcoats and Revolutionaries killing each other with George himself giving a speech in the background. OK. I'm more interested in what's in the background. There's a colony there, our first proper glimpse of one! It looks decent sized! My biggest question is, will there be a flow of woods that get thinner and thinner as you approach the city? Will there be a cabin here and there on the outskirts, and as you get closer more buildings appear? Or will there be a walled-off bit and you can only get to one map from another by going through a loading screen?

Yes, I just raised a lot of questions. But there's so many things that they have left unanswered. Hopefully they'll release another trailer, nonchalantly answering more questions. We can only hope.

Anybody else hear about the new "toy?" It's supposed to be an arrow with a rope attached to it.

The 2nd and last shots are awesome.

One step below the Freedom Edition is the Join or Die Edition. Join or Die will include the Ghost of War mission, Sharpshooter multiplayer package and George Washington's notebook, plus different packaging and an Assassin's medallion. The Join or Die Edition will cost £64.99 on consoles and £34.99 on PC.

Finally, a Special Edition will also be available. Ubisoft didn't mention a price, but the Special Edition will contain an exclusive single-player mission called "A Dangerous Secret." This mission will allow players to "fight against a secret that could jeopardize the funding of the revolution" and offer the opportunity to unlock an exclusive Flintlock Musket.

All three editions have currently only been announced in Europe. Collector's Editions of previous Assassin's Creed games have come to the U.S., and Assassin's Creed III seems like an especially likely candidate given that the game is set in America and prominently features American flags on its packaging. Still, it's worth noting that some Ubisoft special editions have remained European exclusives.

We've reached out to Ubisoft and will update with any news about an international release for these versions. For the latest on Assassin's Creed III, check out our gameplay impressions.

Too bad those are only being released in Europe, I need to play that pirate mission. :grumpy:

I'll probably end up getting a special edition of some kind, I have high hopes for this game.

I've heard of a select group of people that got to see 10 minutes of gameplay. They said that one of the biggest highlights was Kenway running away from some Redcoats in Boston, leaping through a 2nd-story window, running through the house and jumping out the other side.

More here and here.

^ They're sure lucky that they've seen the gameplay of AC3. 👍

Anyway we should just wait for the big news at E3 this year.

Yes, yes they are. I'm so jealous. It seems that Ubisoft is trying to calm people's fears and confirm some of the speculation by releasing more info, such as VIP gameplay previews. By "fears" I mean the rumor that was going around that there wouldn't be a hidden blade. This is what they released to help people chill out:

That's over 2 months away... I'll survive.

This is totally off-topic, but is anybody still playing Revelations MP? If so I'd love to team up with you.

To be honest, I never actually played any of the Assassin's Creed games. I was addicted into playing the Uncharted games. :P

Anyway this title will definitely be my very first Assassin's Creed game. :)

Sorry bud, can't play with ya.

No problem, I understand. You've picked a good time to jump into the series.

And I'm excited again. Why? This. At PAX East (April 6-8) they're going to be showing a gameplay demonstration to the public.

**** YEAH!!!

^ first image: female redcoat unit/custom character?
Bonus character for MP.

I'm more interested in the second one. It appears that we'll be able to customize more than just the colors of Conner's clothes, we may be able to change different parts of his outfit altogether. He looks like a typical Colonist with a hat on instead of the very outdated hood.
