I am sure that Kunos understands that to keep the title relevant, talked about and attractive to a larger consumer base for a longer period of time that how the online racing aspect appeals to more drivers is an important aspect to obtain that goal.

One of the things that iRacing is always getting recognition as being the best for is their driver rating/matching/ranking system which includes tiered licensing for drivers to advance to higher classes.

Gran Turismo has always gotten a lot right when it comes to their library of available cars, their car graphics modeling, and their car modification shop and the paint/decal shop.

For myself the way GT classify some cars together for racing, take existing real-life classes and insert their real life nonexistent car creations into the mix and the balance at times between the cars is subpar.
Also the rubber band AI and driver matching system which seems to broad in what is many times included in a single event are areas GT needs improvement.

ACC has done well getting a racing sim that is one of the better available titles and the class balance is pretty good.
I personally like the physics in ACC and the tire grip model is near the top in my opinion as well.

In single player the AI for ACC is one of the better currently available iterations where a player can have competition from the AI throughout the field if set up correctly but it can always be improved upon.

Just from listening to what Kunos is saying and showing I think they are building EVO in the spirit of the original AC but may well be looking at what other titles have done both well and bad and incorporating hopefully what they see as the strong points while avoiding the lesser traits.

I would love to see a single title that incorporates the best features from the currently top games available all in one title and I am sure that is what Kunos is striving to do.
Of course whether they pull it off remains to be seen but I like what I am hearing as to what they are attempting to accomplish so far.

Not Really

Why roll your eyes. Both AC games allow players to jump in cars freely. There are some players that prefer that way to access cars. Sure, some players like the GT and Forza way of buying and or unlocking cars after tasks. It doesn’t bother me either way, but for Assetto Corsa that seems like the most brutal thing about a feature that comes to mind, but again, I don’t know.

This article gives me even more hope that EVO will actually combine the things as a community we have been asking/begging for it seems forever under one title.

I also really like the answer as far as they are trying to design the game to be able to adapt to technology and hardware advances over the coming years.

I think one thing that will become more popular is a smaller group of friends will get together and create races and/or leagues that will combine a more limited number of human drivers using AI to fill the ranks and still create sizeable fields.
This way you can have the online experience with like-minded friends/drivers that share the same what is acceptable clean racing ideas while still having a full grid and avoiding the sometimes toxic drivers that enjoy creating wreck fest that you encounter when racing regular public lobbies online.

As far as licensing and racing for any type of online racing I fully agree and support being limited by license class and a safety rating to allow admittance into more advanced classes of racing defined by both driver/car requirements.

Offline I would prefer an open option with no limitations and in the event of a career or achievement mode then earning those advancements through gameplay would give the sense of accomplishment and advancement many gamers desire.

This article again at least gives the impression that Kunos is striving to take the next step in sim racing/game development to hopefully bring the entire package of online competition/ single player/offline play into a single package better than it has been done before with the ability to get even better as AI and hardware technology moves forward.

I think you will EVENTUALLY see community modding but it will be a number of years for the most part as there will be DLC packages made available that will broaden the scope and probably the cars/racing classes along with adding additional circuits as they go.

Kunos has done well when focusing on certain classes and appropriate circuits for those classes in some of their DLC packages for ACC.
I for one am fine with DLC packages if the packages offer good content and value for its price as they then keep my initial investment in the game alive and fresh being played rather than sitting unused on my game library shelf.

Also a well thought out and implemented DLC package if you like the content buy it, if not skip it as any changes which affect game mechanics or physics should be given to ALL owners of the game in a free update and not included only in a bought package.

The more I hear the more I am looking forward to the title being launched.

I was referring to the possibility of having an open world with traffic and free roaming in a simulator, that's something that no one has done so far (not counting mods).

As an offline racer and a player who plays full seasons, I want a decent blue flag / out lap AI. Blue flagged cars / qualifying outlap cars should not race the other cars.

That's the most blatant AI problem in AC1.

I also want a championship where you can adjust each and every race in detail. And even change cars /data folder for each individual race. Setups don't always suffice as the modded cars have all kinds of track related problems. You should also be able to adjust each and every cars' pitstop times per race too. Now the AI cars sometimes pit illogically. You should be able to control that precisely, like defining "max pitstops per race" for each individual car.

i got plenty of hype for ac evo, looks very intresting if it actully has free roam driving included in the base game, in vr with traffic that can really transform that experince,

Proably unpopular opinion,
But i would like to see options to upgrade or customize cars in game dosent need to be any crazy in depth, and single player simular career to gt experince never seen that happen in any pc sim racer to date,

But i am not expecting it, just got my pc so i am ready when it drops on steam,
Still happy it focus more on road cars witch is something very few track racing games does nowdays.

Ac has been the only pc sim that i really been intrested in, the others just does nothing for me.

Lets see what we find out in the coming months about ac evo.

Since you just got your PC, I am not sure if you are aware that we can have VR with traffic and plenty of option to upgrade and customize cars in AC presently, so it might be an option as you are waiting for AC Evo.
Sadly my new pc did not turn out the way i planned, it just dosent work, proably a faulty graphics card, not what you should expect from brand new pc, but those kind of stuff can happen specially under long transports, i regret that i didint pick it up at the store my self.

As good as pc can be consoles is less likely to run into those issues and work straight out of the box.

Very true, sorry to read you are having issues.
It might not be as hard to fix as you might feel at the moment and a working PC opens a lot more opportunities to great simulation than the more comfortable, but more limited console.
Although the PC technology is advanced, fixing them is much easier than most people think.

I dont think it will be a big problem to fix it.
But i still have to drive to the store witch i did yesterday, and wait for it to be resolved,

Its under warrenty so it will be fixed for free,
The biggest issue was proably because i choise to get it transported to home, and the ones that transport the pc messed up a bit,
If i pick it up at the store my self, it might never run into the issues i did.

I most certainly will not be bothering with ACE if there is any form of grinding necessary to unlock cars or tracks.

If they go that route, they could still have all content available in an custom mode,
And the progression involved would be just the career mode, i myself dont see that kind of progression as a bad thing, gives the game more purpuse to keep playing in my opinion,

There is a reason why gt4 is so highly regarded for it career mode,

Proably the best career mode of all time in any racing game, and if done right as it was in gt4 it never feelt like a grind.

Did you take it out and put it back in? Is it showing in device manager?
[/QUOTE]

I didin’t, but they tried at the store and they are not sure about the issue yet,
Its most likely a faulty graphics card,
So then i need to wait for it to be replaced,
Could take a week or longer.
Its not fun when you spend that kind of money, the pc set my back about€3000

You care enough to reply to it, and given this is a discussion forum with many different views, I can also promise you, you're wrong.

Many people see the grind that titles such as AC avoid as a very strong positive.
Exactly.

Personally, I'm hoping for some kind of career mode but as a supplement to being able to create free races/championships.
When I say some kind of career, I also mean one that is much more in-depth than the original AC is.

I wouldn't be surprised if, despite having a career mode with maybe some economy, in EVO the circuits are unlocked from the first moment you enter and that the cars can be rented for free like you can do in Forza.

Edit: Another option would be to have a menu of "my cars" outside of the career mode to be able to customize any vehicle in the game to our liking for free for quick solo and online modes (a bit similar to something that the NFS games already had from the PS2 era)

@seco46 thanks for sharing and translating. My hipe is in stratosphere, Marco is not Ian Bell...
Well he isn’t Ian , but don’t say all the truth either, he is good as advertising his product, for the rest better listen to the devs.
It will be interesting to see how AC Evo comes out without Aris (physics & handling dev) and Stefano Casillo ( one of the founders & main devs )

For many people avoiding the grind in titles such as AC is seen as a very strong positive.
If I cared, I would have asked why, but it is not the case. On the other hand I don't know why you guys get so angry, this is always the same, saying "if this game has this or that thing I won't even touch it" and then they are the first ones to go to work badly asleep from running that last race, and then another and another... Chill, there is still a lot of official information to know and speculate so much and in a negative way I don't think it will lead anywhere.
Thank you.
And thanks to @Sparky AC for revealing himself. It's always nice to add people like that to the 'ignore' list.
LMAO... Whatever makes yo happy. (Remember what Bob and his rainbow said)

I dont think some more involved progression and career mode would be bad in ac evo,

Ac1 was great for what it did good,
But as a game it missed the mark a bit in my opinion, and thats why i really stopped played it after a while,

The pontential for ac evo is huge,
I dont understand why some people, jump on some people because they want some kind of progression, you always get that go and play nfs then, but they clearly dont understand at all what we want, just because you like some progression and more options for tuning and stuff, dosen’t mean we want arcady physics,
Its litterly not the same thing very far from it,

In reallife its not uncommon to make upgrades to your sportcar. Changing exhaust is one or the best and most fun upgrades you can do in reallife, and so far no full sim on pc have ever simulate or done any of that.

If I cared, I would have asked why, but it is not the case.
Not how that verb works I'm afraid.
On the other hand I don't know why you guys get so angry,
I'm perfectly calm.

That's a rather large amount of speculation on your part, and one that almost certainly will not pass the test of reality. Take GT7, the egregious grind it still contains means I have never done that with it at all.
Chill, there is still a lot of official information to know and speculate so much and in a negative way I don't think it will lead anywhere.
I think you're addressing this to the wrong person.

You also seem to have utterly missed the entire point of my post, which was the observation that you don't get to be 'gatekeeper' of who cares about what in regard to a title.

I dont think some more involved progression and career mode would be bad in ac evo,
Agreed, all most are asking for is both options, for example PC and PC2 managed that balance well.
Ac1 was great for what it did good,
But as a game it missed the mark a bit in my opinion, and thats why i really stopped played it after a while,
What platform were you playing it on? As I could see that on console, but mod support (which included plenty of options for pre-made championships) added so much that it was almost impossible to sample it all.
The pontential for ac evo is huge,
Indeed it is, but developers have been dropping the ball repeatedly over the last few years, so some will naturally be cautious.
I dont understand why some people, jump on some people because they want some kind of progression,
I think the opposite is true, those wary of progression have only stated they wouldn't purchase if it locked stuff away, and they haven't told others they shouldn't get it.
you always get that go and play nfs then, but they clearly dont understand at all what we want, just because you like some progression and more options for tuning and stuff, dosen’t mean we want arcady physics,

Who's said that progression = arcady physics?
In reallife its not uncommon to make upgrades to your sportcar.
Until recently it was illegal to do so in Italy for road use, and given that Kunos is an Italian studio that may well explain its historical absence.
