Assetto Corsa is going to do great on PS4, there is room for a quality SIM/racing game on console. After more than 1600 hours into AC I still enjoy it the most.

Once you fine tuned your driving position and your set up, the immersion is very addictive, little by little, coming from less SIM games, GT6 in my case, new players will uncover layers after layers of unknown pleasures.

Funny how the AI is often cited as bad, it is not! AI in AC drives way better than 95% of Multi player, way better than GT5/6 AI, I prefer it to PCars AI. AI is adjustable, not like multi player, so you end up racing other cars instead of the usual MP glorified hot lapping between the one who are faster and the one who cannot finish a lap.
I have no doubt that a large majority of console newcomer will find AI in AC to be just fine. they might be to slow for some Aliens, but for the majority, the people who play the game but might not spend so much time writing in forums, they are more than entertaining.

Assetto Corsa will be a must have on console, the same as it is on PC, some will like it a lot, some will like it for specific aspect, but all will appreciate the sheer joy of driving a well simulated car on a well reproduced track.

Great impressions, this looks like a more polished PCARS.

In some ways, yes. In some ways, no. Bugs aside, I like the structure of the career mode in PCars, it actually gave you a reason to want to use it and progress your way through to different series. AC's career is just a random selection of cars on tracks with no logical reasoning to them and no real method of progression other than you have to complete one to move on to the other. And there's no rewards on offer for completing them beyond unlocking the next event of random cars/tracks. As far as the driving experience AC is in a different (better) league than PCars and that's its forte. The PC version is mostly free of bugs (besides one major one affecting most of the cars in the game) and what's there is certainly serviceable.

Where can i find a car- and tracklist?

Well, you can find some here, but for some reason they haven't updated their site with any of the content they've put out since the official release.

those are some of the cars, there is actually much more, but I like this video.

:odd:  Whoops!

Does anyone know if you can stall the car? Or if you can manually drive down the pit lane? Or how much control over the lights do you have? It will be interesting to find out at I feel project cars give the player so much control over the car!

Edit: can you make custom liveries as well?

You're presuming of course that they haven't changed the career structure at all for the console release. I'd be very surprised if that is the case.

In the cockpit view of AC, is removing the hands and steering wheel available?
it's quite easy with the right setup to put your own wheel in line with the removed wheel from the car. There are many videos online showing this. it's quite immersion and a feature of most sims. 👍

I'm certainly hoping they do because I don't think the current structure is going to go over very well with console users. And of course that would benefit us PC users. I'm hoping there are lots of little improvements like this made for the console crowd that will benefit all of us (especially the tire heat issue). I think we can all predict the interweb uproar if it's released to consoles in its current state, but from the preview videos it looks like they're moving in the right direction.

That's probably one of my most favorite things about the PC sims, being able to dial in the view to be just like in a real car, including being able to see my gauges through my wheel.

I tried it before, but I use a modestly sized TV, and I play on console so I can't use triple screens, so my FOV ends up being so close that I barely see anything.

Great news :) Hope it's decent playing it on a pad, Gran Turismo has this nailed in my opinion, Project is good but not great.

Looking at moving towards the end of the year so will have room for a wheel but until then hoping it's decent on a dual shock, i'm always excited when sims come to consoles as i don't have a gaming PC but always slightly concerned that such physics can't be enjoyed when using a pad.

Either way it's nice to see Project Cars, Dirt Rally and now Assetto Corsa coming to consoles, the racing genre is coming back in style on the current gen consoles :D

I will be picking this game up, even though I am a dreaded "car collector", I also like driving and this will be just one more in an expanded arsenal of driving games. Anxious to drive FXX, I wish it would come to Forza6, not holding my breath though.

Hardly. Once AC hits consoles people will quickly realize how many things GT got right. In AC you can't customize your driver, you can't really customize your car other than picking from a list of skins (and some of the cars only have a handful to pick from), you can't pick your racing number, you can't modify/add parts to your car, the career mode is woeful, the online mode is barebones, the photo mode is.....not user-friendly, there's no weather or night racing, no false starts, no reverse grids. Don't get me wrong, AC is a good game and the things it does well it does well enough to make most of that stuff not matter too much, but it also really shines a light on the things GT got right. When I abandoned GT for PC games I thought I'd never look back, but if I'm honest I miss GT more and more all the time (not that I'll ever play it again). As far as how the studio head treats the fan base, well let's just say Lord Kunos isn't exactly a PR guru.

I agree with this statement. Despite the many frustrating things about GT and PD's lack of communication, there are still a lot of positives about GT. No game will ever be perfect. It's just people always expect the next GT to be the second coming of Jesus or something (no doubt rose tinted glasses from the GT1-4 era). Excluding standard cars, GT's level of polish and consistency is way beyond these new startup sims like AC & PCARS. They are not going to make the physics pure hardcore, because that is never their target with GT (same with Forza series).

It's a shame there's no perfect game, but as has been mentioned numerous times in this thread: if you have the resources just get all of 'em :)

Not being argumentative but I'd like to point out that although GT is known as a car collecting game, less than 20% of players actually own more than 100 cars and less than 30% get to 50 cars. The car collecting approach only appeals to a small number of fans.

I expected something like that  By car collection I mean the game itself presents a large number of cars that they player can choose. It's the spread of choice that's important to some people, even though they may not end up driving or owning even 10% of them.

mmh, it's a good publisher
Payday 2, How to Survive, Brothers A Tale of Two Sons, Defense Grid 2, Sniper Elite V2, Sniper Elite III, Terraria and Zombie Army Trilogy are good game
Payday 2 is debatable *cough* goat simulator DLC *cough*

Im just trying to think of the things AC has over Pcars and what will warrant a purchase in April?

Imo the only thing missing from Pcars now is full customisable championships. The dynamic weather, lighting etc. really appeals to me and ive had some of the best, most intense racing ive had ever on console in the clio cup races.

Im aware AC is the more 'realistic' driving experience judging by comments....im just trying to get some opinions on the big advantages and improvements it will have over Pcars for me?

Nice set up mate, how's that new CSL to use?

In a dull and dreary slightly depressing January....i keep getting pangs of excitement at the prospect of AC in April.... I am very excited and very glad I made the investment in TX wheel with PCars.
Its been very tempting to get a full PC set up (was going to get the raceroom full set up https://www.raceroomstore.com/shop_en/list_page?cat=19) but i'm going to hold back on that a bit longer.

How are you finding the TX wheel? Just got an Xbox One and LOVE IT and will consider a wheel and the TX looks like the best bet on the One.

For me I read the horror stories and have no doubt that some customers have had issues but I just went for it as got 2 year warranty. Used amazon and got it for £260 and since got the GTX add on wheel and will get tpa pedals before AC comes out.
As far as my review of the TX goes well its awesome and feels great and couldn't be happier really. I'd say ideally you need a race seat / rig set up with it, but so far no issues i run the fan pretty much all the time using PCars as you can manually run the fan. If you have an xbox 1 then yes i'd recommend it.
To be fair though i had the TX spider before the full fat one and that was really great also at was 60 quid! No FFB but a good start into it all.

Sweet! Cheers mate. on CEX they're 170 second hand so with exchanging my xbox 360, dfgt and other bits I reckon I could have one for about 80. Not bad at all judging by it's performance!
