No personally selectable race grids in the Console version according to Lord Kunos.

You can have same car or same class.

Reason given was complexity of matching AI in very different cars on the same grid. They don't have time to test all combinations possible.

Im aware AC is the more 'realistic' driving experience judging by comments....im just trying to get some opinions on the big advantages and improvements it will have over Pcars for me?

That's it, pretty much, but you'd be surprised how far that can go. I liked the things about PCars you mentioned and wish they were in AC, but I didn't care for how the driving/FFB felt so it's currently not even installed on my system, yet I play AC almost every day and even started a club for it. Granted, if it weren't for all the mod content for AC I'm not sure that would be the case, and that's where console players will miss out unfortunately. But who knows, they could have added some nice goodies to prepare for the console crowd (fingers crossed).

Nice set up mate, how's that new CSL to use?

It's good, but if I'm honest it's a bit cheap feeling and doesn't measure up to the rest of the Fanatec gear quality. In comparison, I also have the formula rim and that thing is literally like it came straight out of a formula car. The CSL rim feels more like a grown up DFGT rim, it works fine but it doesn't make you exclaim "wow, this is a serious bit of kit!". The button layout leaves a bit to be desired too.

I think that's pretty much how it is in the PC version too, so don't feel like you're missing out on anything.

Cheers, I thought it looked a bit cheap compared to their other rims, but they are selling it pretty cheap compared to the rest. I wonder how good the CSL base will be when that finally comes out. I'm using the trusty old CSR with CSP V1s. I'd love to upgrade to the CSW, but the Mrs would murder me if I dropped that much on a sim wheel lol. I'll be keeping a keen eye out for the CSL base quality and pricing when it comes out, but some day in the not so distant future I'll have a good PC set up and I'll no doubt be wanting to upgrade to the CSW.

I got it with the Black Friday bundle so it was really cheap for me, so I don't really have any complaints. It doesn't feel like it's going to break on me or anything, it's just really really light and made mostly of plastic so it definitely feels like a toy wheel as opposed to their other rims which are all but indistinguishable from the real thing. I can't see myself spending $400 on just a rim though so most of the other options are off the table, but I have been secretly eyeing the BMW GT rim which is about half that price, but that won't be happening any time soon because what I have works just fine and feels great as far as FFB goes.

That was an awesome deal, I was so broke at that time it was depressing to see that deal on their website haha. Well a big upside of it being all plastic is it'd be very light, and coupled to that powerful base it would give you some very fine ffb indeed. I'm jealous mate, enjoy! 👍

I was kinda forced into it, my T300 had gone belly-up again and even though they took it back for repairs the warranty was about to run out so if it fouled up again I'd be hosed. Figured I might as well take advantage of the Fanatec deal and be done with it. So far so good, and yes it does have some very fine FFB due to the lightness of the rim but I think if it had just a bit more weight it would make it feel a little more authentic and still have great FFB. The little LCD and shift light built into the top of the rim is quite nice. 👍

Will the console version be able to use custom skins like the PC version?
Nope. No mods either. It's technically possible Kunos might make skins available as DLC but I've not heard anything about it.

Meh, I'm not too bothered by the lack of mods. It got incredibly tiring back in the F1 2k2 mod days having to constantly keep track of who had what for racing online.

100 cars is plenty. Especially as this has a lineup that's more in line with my tastes than PCARS ever was.

Wrong, you could drive the Abarth against a field of F1 cars if you want to.
The PC version will be the one which offers the full package, but compared to other console racing games, AC will still be a pure gem.

I just hope the console versions aren't the nightmare PCARS has been.

Like it or not, a huge chunk of the userbase won't be on a wheel, so some semblance of controller optimization will be needed. I've been holding off on getting a wheel for the current gen until I can get one that covers all the bases, and PCAR's controller setup is a joke. I'm not expecting a controller to be at par with a wheel for the finest of adjustments, but anything is better than what SMS gave us.

Oh, and if each update is a couple gigs each, I probably will just not bother.

Oh, ok. I've never really messed with that part of the game a whole lot so I didn't know what was possible, for some reason I thought you couldn't do too much mixing of classes (I was probably thinking of another sim). 👍

I'm perfectly fine with no mods and no third party tracks.
But skins for original content since it's possible on PC should be possible on console as well.
Afterall it's just a couple of .dds files upload.

Since Kunos are italians I tell them something I say in this case: "Hai fatto 30, fai 31!"
Literally "You made 30, just do 31!" meaning: come on, you need just a little more effort to reach perfection. ;)

Can someone who already has AC on PC construct a complete car and track list?
I don't have AC but I've been following the game and keeping track of the cars & tracks added.

That's a list to get excited about,

Plus I believe I read the 488 GTE is coming,

I quite like the sound of AC from a physics perspective, and it might just get me to buy a PS4/new wheel.

But I'm a bit worried about the car list... whilst the number of cars doesn't bother me too much, it is a bit 'race car and hyper car' heavy... very few 'sensibly' powered road cars.

Is this primarily a race car game?

Some of those tracks have multiple layouts too, so it's slightly better than the list looks. IMO the track list is going to be the big weak part of the console version (that and the lack of mods), presuming they include the post-release tracks the list is still pretty small. But at least the ones that are there are all good ones, and the 3 versions of the Nords should keep most people happy for a while. 👍

As far as PC sims go it by far has the most street cars in it and I certainly wouldn't say it primarily a race car game. One of my favorite things to do in AC is take one of the street cars for a cruise on one of the hill-climb or mountain tracks, good stuff. There aren't a crap load of non-hyper street cars, but there are some good options in there.

The combo of the 1M/M3/M4, Alfa 4c, GT86 and all those Exige/Evora variants gives quite a bit of non-Supercar options in the 200-400bhp range. There are a couple of fast FWD cars but that could be improved. AC doesn't do non-performance street cars.

If you are after street cars in bulk to try out, upgrade parts and try out some more then you should stick to GT/Forza. AC definitely doesn't offer that.

Excellent car list but kinda disappointed by the lack of tracks. It's not surprising to me though because i been looking at some gameplay of Assetto Corsa ever since it was announced that it's coming to consoles. Right now out of all racing games on next gen so far this is the second best car list i seen just beating out Pcars. (Forza 6 has the best car list in my opinion)
