Assetto corsa coming to PS4 and Xbox one

If you're seriously looking to put together a desktop system you could save some money if you don't mind assembling it yourself, plus then you can pick all of the exact components you want. If build a PC is not your thing, I'm sure some of us could help you find a good value, good bang for your buck PC.

If you're even halfway enjoying Assetto Corsa and if you can spare the cash, I would 100% go the PC route. AC is practically an entirely different game on PC. The built in apps PC users get to use plus all the free mods we have access to (Cars, Tracks, Apps, Skins, Sounds, Weather - you name it). And not just Assetto Corsa - I've been hearing wonderful things about Automobilista. All sorts of different titles you can choose from.

If you can, I say do it. GT6 was my introduction into this whacky world and it'll always be special to me, but I am just a lot, lot happier on a PC game now. I don't play any other games, so I have no use for consoles anymore. Assetto Corsa can be fairly CPU hungry. Get the best you can afford, same with a video card. Those are the two most important computer components for AC, I believe.


I typically drive the Countach on the old Pirelli P7 Cinturato tires. Those aren't exactly sticky, if ya know what I mean...

Ram too if anyone want to run those 3rd party in-game app. I would say go for 16gb of ram. It isn't expensive anymore nowadays

I played automobilista also, its sensation is somehow very different from AC. The feeling remind me of Best Motoring International when running @ suzuka with Lancer evo R cup car.


Yup~ Same with me. Gt6 introduce the door to sim world to me. I had bunch of happy hour with my friend in GT6. But i had moved on .

I wouldn't recommend people getting the baddest and greatest thing. It all came down to what your budget is. If single monitor 1080p. I would suggest getting a current gen i5 + gtx 1060 , 16gb of ram. and an SSD. That would pretty much last you many years if the purpose is to sim-race only and had no regards to triple monitor and VR.

Cheers buddy, will have a look at that over a cup of tea. I'll be honest i really like the look of Race Room thats the draw for me, that and the fact i haven't drank in nearly 4 years not smoked for 10 and with 2 kids and my party days behind me, this will be a hobby and feel i can owe myself this treat. Just found it hard to get any good answers on PC forums, seems quite a closed clique until your in it i s'pose... but even then someone will have a bigger Graphics card than you... such is life!

Just get whatever suited your budget and game on. Its the experience that matters not how big the GPU is. or how many rams i had.

You and me both. I never used the clutch at all until AC and was convinced I would never be able to H&T either, especially after watching the video in the spoiler 3 years ago. I was determined though and after a few sessions started to get the hang of it and now it's second nature. Just like anything else, if you repeat it enough and build some muscle memory, you don't have to think about it at all while doing it. I prefer to drive that way now it's so much more immersive than just using the paddles for me. Probably why I favour the older cars so much.

I used clutch in GT6 when i bought a g27 after selling my dfgt. The clutch is horrible in GT6 but i learnt my Heeltoe skill there because i had no where else to turn to at that time ( also because at that moment all my friends are in GT6) I was determined to get the hang of it but gt6 is getting me no where. After Pcars & Assetto Corsa came up i tried Heeltoe with it and had learnt much from there because the clutch model is so much better. Yeah, i agreed muscle memory is everything. You need to let your feet to " remember " how to react. In the beginning i just simply push all 3 pedal down at the same time which is stupid LOL.

CSL? I have my eye on that bundle too (for the future). Thinking of already getting the new pedals with the load cell brake but i wasn't sure if i could mount them on the wheelstand pro. Shouldn't be a problem i suppose.

PCARS is an even greater transformation, since it was utterly unplayable for me on the pad last I tried. Last night, kids in bed I stuck PCars on just to have a bit of fun I was going to play PCars and AC back to back again with same cars.... 2 hours later I was still playing PCars... oh well, AC can wait.
I find it very hard to remove the PCars disk as there is so much to do and I never really hot lapped much on PCars only when tuning FFB, so last night was setting timed races no AI for like 20 mins and played it like AC as a hot lapper and its ace.
Just about to play AC now as wife is out.

It's evil in both AC and PCars, it's totally digital because of the lag. Either no power at all or totally mental, and the mental is normally just when you don't need it.

I too have killed a few virtual drivers with it.

Best place to practice heel and toe is real car You are good on real car, it will be easier to adapt and be good on games. I already used to heel & toe on real car after a few learning lesson by my old man, when I tried it first time in game ( Sega F355 Challenge with H shifter ), I was already familiar and felt second nature even on 1st downshift while braking. Newer games with better wheel/pedal should make things much easier

Nah - too easy with the downforce. Its a fun car, but not as much fun for me as the mechanical only grip of the Rookie.

Add in Seb Loeb Rally and that sums up most of my evenings (after the family have gone to bed).

I just don't get the 'x game is the best and everything else is poo' approach, I have too much fun with all of them for that nonsense, and I'm hoping that GTS makes the grade to join the list as well.

For just hotlapping i agree, but it made some fenomenal race in the Online serie i hosted... Allows for drivers to be crazy close even if skill are not the same

In which case once they get private lobbies sorted in AC then the Formula Abarth (Tatus) will be just as good, as that thing is also great fun in a very similar way.

I agree with that statement. I enjoy AC a lot but also Driveclub. Most important I think is having fun with it and simply play what you like.

I'm damn waiting for Kunos to bring that private lobbies out so i may go and buy the game.

For solo racing i have PCars's GT3 AI at 80-85 that is insanely good, clean, polite. Nothing compared to the open wheels AI that is a killer lol

Must be quite dull for these people being a fan of one game to the point of refusing to accept others can be fun.

I have AC, rF2, Dirt Rally, Automobilista, R3E, GTR/GTR2, Race07, Power & Glory 3, PCars, Euro Trucking Simulator, and Murican Trucking Simulator.

I like that you can adjust the boost on the fly - X on the PS4 - really helps to build it up lap by lap until the car tries to kill you! Used this to get the hang of the Sauber and the Yellowbird. Can't adjust it on the F40 though.
