Great driving on a tough track, @HammyMansell -- Somehow I'm not surprised. 👍 Now, how come my driving doesn't look like that? I have the same exact car! Same paint too... WTF?!  How do you like that car overall? How do you compare it to the 911 GT3 RS driving wise?

Haha thanks mate, first thing to do is turn the TC off, that makes it so much more fun, in any car! When i hotlap/race, i never use the driving aids, as it just slows you down.

To me the 911 R is the best Porka in the game bar non, partly due to the fact it has a gear stick, so i can use my TH8A, and also just the way it feels, goes, and slides around those corners. To me it's the best car in the game up to now! The GT3 RS isn't as much fun to me, it feels more "restricted", maybe for having some kind of computerised system built into it for racing.

;)

I shut off TC often...but not always. It helps to make sure that my headlights are not aiming back at the area from where I just came. :sly:  I should be practicing more without TC enabled. Not because I necessarily want to drive with TC always off, but in case I am involved in a no TC race, I don't want to be a fish out of water. I just did 6 or 7 laps around Mugello with the 911 R. 3 or 4 with TC on and 3 with it off. If it very easy to get that rear-end to turn around. If the car in real life is anything even remotely close I don't know if I'd want to be driving one of these on a track...unless I had the track to myself. :D

A lot of people seem to share the same opinion about the GT3 RS. That thing is a good amount more planted in AC with default setup compared to the 911 R. Probably a good thing for someone like me, but I can understand why you might find that boring and lifeless.

Imagine how often you'd need to go and get a new set of rear tyres!!! :P #BurningPorkaRubber!

Can you blow a tire from just driving too long? I ran 3 laps of the 'ring on tires with zero remaining in the wear-o-meter and they wouldn't pop. Toward the end I was working so hard to beat on them I didn't realize my second tank of gas was empty, ran out.

I don't know the answer for sure, but I'm guessing the answer to your question is "No." I've not attempted what you did, running the tire(s) all the way down to 0. How was the grip/tire behavior at 10% down to 0%? The only time I've ever blown tires is when I've had a huge spin that ended with my tires perpendicular to my direction of travel and/or I just kept my foot on the brake pedal. The tire temp apps turn VERY red...and even if I sit there and wait for the tire to get back down to green or slightly above green still, driving the car is almost impossible because of the blown tire. Like, I've got to hold my wheel 45° in one direction just to go straight...the car is pulling so much. So, then it's usually ESCAPE KEY > Back to Pits.

Yea my buddy blew a tire the other night spinning out (repeatedly) so I figured it wouldn't take long after hitting zero. The behavior of the tires as they approach zero probably depends a lot on the condition. I was driving P1 on hypercar trofeo, and they stayed green until about 50%, and were yellow until a little under 10%. Only then did they become unpredictable, so they did great. Before that I was just slowing down little by little. I was driving conservatively so that helped.

An odd thing happened, and after all four went to zero (fronts had about 5% more than rears) the car became pretty predictable again. I thought maybe I found a glitch because I was able to get on it a bit more, but then the tiniest bit of lift oversteer sent me into the Armco.

That is strange...Maybe I should make a post about it on the official forums in the physics section...just to see what they say. When I read your first message about getting the tires down to 0%, knowing how Stefano does things, I'm sure 0% doesn't really mean 0%. He probably put some kind of buffer in there so crazy people like you could still get to the pits on 0% tires. No...In all seriousness, it's good that people do inventive tests like these. Believe it or not, when something like this gets brought to a Dev's attention, it often results in them finding other issues due to conditions they didn't consider the first time around. 👍

@ALB123 i've given the 911 GT3 RS a go today, no aids, what do you think?

The rear tyres were white hot after half a lap! :D

Fun car, but i'd go for the 911 R anyday! :)

Beautiful. The GT3 RS is my favourite car in the game but I can't drift it - nor anything in Assetto Corsa really - without spinning (I'm having slightly more luck with drifting in Project Cars, though only slightly).

WHAT. THE. 🤬???

How come my 911 GT3 RS doesn't look like that when I'm driving it?! :grumpy: Man...I totally thought you were gonna eat it on that first big drift you did. Your back tires were probably touching bent over blades of grass. And even that next big drift (I think it was the next), you did go off the track with your back wheel(s) and still held control until you got the tire(s) off the grass and back on the pavement. Do you initiate drifts with a handbrake? Or are all of them basically just the Scandinavian flick?

You have no idea how excited I get when I do a huge drift like you were doing....except whenever I do one I wasn't trying to at all. So, it's drifting by mistake.

EDIT: @Miths - I'm the same. I can't drift for nothing in AC. I admit that I don't really try to drift. But on the rare occasion that I actually try....I usually end up spinning like a top.

Thanks guys, and yes ALB, induce the slides with a a bit of the Scandinavian stuff!! ;) Dab the brake at high speed turns, while turning into the corner, or brake and turn into the heavier braking areas, for the effect! No handbrake required. 👍

I agree with all this so much it hurts. :)

The vast majority of my Assetto Corsa time is spent driving street legal cars. Whether I'm on a race track or on a public road, the odds are I'll be in something other than a race car. However, Assetto Corsa does bill itself as a Racing Sim with Laser Scanned tracks. They made attempts with 2 different "public road" types of tracks. Most people bellyache about Black Cat County and there is even a sizeable group of people who don't like Highlands. You can't please everybody all the time and that's understandable.

My personal feeling is for Kunos to focus on getting more laser scanned racing circuits into the sim and let the modders bring us these fun public road style tracks. The narrator in that YouTube video was right. The quality usually isn't up to Kunos standards...especially the physical road mesh. A few tracks, like Tajo (in the video), California, Transfagarasan (it's slowly getting there. One of my favorite roads, but the actual quality isn't outstanding.)

Perhaps I am wrong, but I don't see Kunos laser scanning public roads. If they would/could I know I'd be happy. :D I think the majority of AC players would freak, however.. Keeping street roads mod only would suck for console players, of course, but it is what it is. There are already thousands of mods that they can't use. :(

As stated before in another Thread if they want to bring Mods to Consoles they can, its only a matter of where Sony and MS draw the line on Consoles.

And of course certain Tracks might be too demanding on Consoles, but that would be something the Community could report on.

And i would be fine with mod Liveries for starters as for example the 488 GT3 lacks proper liveries.

I disagree, i and many others want driving roads as we dont always want to race, and modders are of no help to us console folk. Most people who dont like BCC or highlands that i have come across are the same people who are against fantasy tracks, i.e close minded sim snobs. They suggest fantasy tracks aren't realistic, no immersion, which is purely down to their closed minds. Nearly every race track if not every race track was a fantasy track at some point.

@gladbecker82 mods on console surely wouldn't be easy as Kunos would have to check every texture to see if it isn't stolen. Though i really wish they would look into it so us console peasants could get a closer experience to the PC master race.

And it's ironic that Live for Speed is often considered one of the best sims of the past, yet I believe it uses mostly (if not entirely) fictional content.

My first thought with mod tracks and cars on consoles would be that it could create a licensing nightmare. Not sure how that would work or if it would be an issue, just the first thing that pops into my head.

Yea that always puzzles me. Just watched the video above and it highlights my sentiments exactly, would like a nice long point2point driving road.

Man, this is really some silence again concerning console versions... come'on at least a tweet on something meaningful and needed for the console community!

The problem I have with BCC (will not mention Highlands for now) is that it's simply too wide and/or with too much fast corners - as Marcel Pfister also mentions in his video, these tracks were made to be able have races on it.

Personally, and in the case of BCC, I also feel they exaggerate on the camber/elevation changes, which reminds me of tracks from GT5's Track Generator. :yuck:

Hell, they could have at least given us Trento Bondone - no matter how bad it looks.

Wow you have such good control of the 911 R. Great rotation/drifting around. Do you heel and toe?? What pedal and wheel do you have?

Thrustmaster T150 with the pedals that come with it, and the TH8A shifter for good company. I just throw the car around a bit and hae fun lol! ;) Thanks mate!

That Tajo road looked pretty good actually.

This nails it right here. I have no problem with fantasy tracks as long as they have character. Course generator tracks are a perfect example of no character.. blech. My favorite fantasy track, and up there with favorite all-around track (and not just for sentimental reasons) is Deepforest. It feels like a real place, has lots of nuance and detail. Especially between the two tunnels, there is a lot of detail in the road surface.

BCC has its moments but overall feels course-generator-like. Highlands sure looks like that, haven't played it yet. I feel that any fictional track, whether a 1.5 mile circuit or a 13 mile point to point cruise could utilize existing laser scan data from other tracks to help give character. Blend together multiple similar surfaces from other tracks. From this perspective, measuring real world public roads could be very valuable. It could give you good sample data for laying down fictional tarmac, and guide the creation of curves and elevation change to be less course-generator-like.

I believe that hardware does not have clutch. Therefore, you must be using the "sequential shifting" mode? I thought you were heel toeing the whole time with clutch and H-pattern shifting.
